A guide to the NanoVNA

Rate this book
Being a low-cost but high-precision measurement instrument, the NanoVNA created a lot of interest in the engineering and ham radio community. It has the potential to replace several, bulky and expensive tools and to open the field of vector network analysis to many new users. The NanoVNA is readily available for online ordering but ships with no manual. In five chapters and with 50 figures, this book helps the potential buyer of a NanoVNA to decide and shows the first time user how to handle it. Moreover, the book shows how to extend functionality by running the NanoVNA on external software and communicate with the device. The chapter about some real use cases might be of special interest to the practitioner.

The nanoVNA is a rather complex device at first look, but resources like this book, and a variety of YouTube videos can help you to make sense of it, and begin successfully using it. Within a matter of days, it is my go-to antenna analyzer, replacing a dedicated device for that purpose. I look forward to learning more about the NanoVNA's capabilities. Highly recommend this book to help you start using yours!

Prepping for Acquisition

A ‘fair start’ for my novice status and well worth the $2.99 price and read-time.

It is dated and numerous links do not work including the opening ‘update’ process. Comprehension confounded in some incidences due to writing style and English grammar. Perhaps this was translated.

User group reference useful and joined to facilitate getting (further) up to speed with current information.

The NanoVNA comes with NO manual... This book is the answer, and it is a good one.

In 84 pages, I went from no clue to reasonably comfortable with the basic functionality.

If you have, or are considering buying, a NanoVNA get this book! You might want to get the book before your purchase to understand the versions.

A Guide to the NanoVNA is an excellent book that will familiarize the reader with the NanoVNA and the basics to start using it. The device doesn't come with a manual, so this book is essential in helping the user of NanoNVA get started. I enjoyed the style of writing and the way information was presented. Various figures gave pictures of what the text was explaining.

I don't recommend this.

The title should be an extremely basic guide with a brief history that means little.
The function part of this book is low key, and basically incomplete. The examples used are low use and lower priority for what a nanoVNA can do

I strongly do not endorse this. It is a waste.

Learn how to use the NanoVNA

This is a book for ham radio operators on how to use the NanoVNA that is available online and at ham radio stores. Cannot wait til mine arrives in a few weeks as this short book tells me how to get started and how to use it.

Good introduction to NanoVNA

This title is a decent primer for learning NanoVNA. I do wish it covered a bit more on calibration standards and timing offsets to adjust the measurement plane.

Aside from that its a good place to start.

Very good for new users

A very basic but well done manual and theory material about VNA uses. I recommend it for new users to get a basic understanding of the operation and theory of how it works

Excellent book. Is there a way that a print version can be produced?

Awesome book. I found it to be very useful to learn about a new love of equipment for my hobby of ham radio.

Extraordinary

Incredible manual, other than a book. It gives very comprehensive information about the device, step by step guides. Almost a need for a new NanoVNA user.

It's a decent start, but...

...there is just so much more about VNAs which this intro doesn't cover. I'd really like to see a bit more than the very basics in a paid-for book.
