Charlotte Astley gains her inheritance
Charlotte is a witch who has been brought up in the normal world but when her uncle Phil is murdered she has to commit to taking over the Magical Midway the family's magical circus to ensure the safety of all the paranormals who work there.
She's got help in the form of a cat, Samson, and her uncle Phil's ghost which, with the help of a djinn she returns to a solid form. It appears that someone was out to get Phil, but who managed to sneak poison past his ringmaster defences? And what is going on with the Witches Council?
Once they have discovered the secret aim of the Witches Council they are going to have to make friends with the only other remaining circus, Makepeace Circus. Roland Makepeace is an angry man who wants to take the Magical Midway from Charlotte. His son, Gunther, is nothing like him though and Charlotte finds herself falling for the Makepeace heir even while knowing that nothing can come of it because when Gunther inherits he will, like her, not be able to leave the Midway for more than a few hours a day. When the witches council threaten to take two members of the Magical Midway and kill them because they are human Charlotte has to think outside the box to find a solution which isn't helped by one of them going missing. Can they find Mark in time and can she persuade Roland to join her to create the perfect solution for them both.
A magical rest break for the circus folks to see the werebears jamboree gets Charlotte in a whole lot of trouble when their chief is killed as the circus arrives. There's currents of distrust running through the bears, a dodgy elf who seems to be trying to trap Charlotte, is Anya's friend Faleena a true friend or foe? With a huntress witch Devana waiting to pounce Charlotte is terrified she's going to be dragged in front of the Witches Council and lose everything but not everything is quite as it seems. A prophecy us playing out and Charlotte and Gunther are key players. Can they work together to free the paranormals from the dominance of the Witches?

Quick read
Excellent read! Could have benefitted from a final proofread but overall enjoyable. Characters make you want to root for them, plot makes you want to not put the books down til the last page is read!

Love me a good circus
This circus has it all. Lions, horses, carnival rides, shape shifters, deceit. Its quite an inheritance, especially when you inherited by murder.
I am hooked on the series. I have to pay attention, unlike some others.

Wonderful Series
I Love the characters and the mysteries are complex enough to keep my interest. Interesting new characters keep showing up, and we get to meet more and more of the paranormal carnies. There is an over arching plot line that moves forward with each book. Thankfully I have not felt like there were any big cliffhangers, which I hate. I am enjoying the series very much.
