This is a good BASIC overview of how to start living a minimalist lifestyle. The author takes you through each room of your house and explains how to de clutter and even how to set up or lightly decorate each room. She also gives tips on how to live an intentional life and maintain the minimalist way of life. Things like avoiding beautiful downtown shopping boutiques that will tempt you to buy and unfollowing stores on Instagram that will also tempt you.
One of the best pieces of advice that I found in this book was to wait at least 24 hours before making purchases. Sit down in the meantime and ask yourself if you really need that item, if there is something else in your house that could serve that purpose and why you suddenly want that item (was it due to an add you saw?).
Using this advice and being more intentional has helped me create calm and peace in my own home, made it so much easier to organize and clean my home (which leads to me being less stressed) and most importantly has helped me be more content and saved me money!
If you want to live a more intentional life and start creating a minimalist life but don’t know where to start, this book is a great place to begin. If you, like me, are already living this way but are always looking for more tips or ideas, this book probably will only tell you what you already know.
