A Good Introduction to Business Ethics (With Caveats)
I read this textbook in preparation for teaching a lesson on business ethics at my seminary. This book is a good introduction to different aspects of business ethics and makes the argument that good business ethics ultimately leads to better profits for those businesses that practice good ethics.
This textbook is written for an American audience and contains examples from the business world that are almost exclusively American, as well as discussions about specific American laws that impinge upon ethical decision-making. If the authors wish to make this book more relevant to an international audience, I recommend they include examples from international businesses and discussions about how the legal systems of other nations may affect ethical decision-making in an international setting.
One other critique I have of this textbook is that the authors demonstrate a clear progressive bias, especially when it comes to social issues. In many parts of the world, people are far more conservative; imposing Western ethical norms on non-Western cultures may even be considered an unethical practice in itself.
