Ansel has a thing for older men.

Specifically his friend’s father Daniel, a penguin shifter who is surprisingly innocent for a forty-seven-year-old man. Ansel probably shouldn’t flirt with Daniel. Or go on a date with him. Or send him photos that Daniel claims are “irresponsible.” But Daniel’s so cute when he blushes, and it’s just a bit of fun. Ansel’s learned that men only want one thing from him, and then they’re gone.

But Daniel doesn’t leave.

In fact, Daniel wants nothing more than to love and take care of Ansel. But Daniel is an omega, just like Ansel, and in polar bear shifter culture a “blood-bond” can only exist between two people who have a child that is genetically related to both of them. If he asks Ansel to be his mate, will he be able to make Ansel happy? Or will he be just one more guy who asks Ansel to settle for less than what he truly wants?

An Egg for Ansel is a second-chance age gap romance with plenty of lace, cuddling, and MPreg of the penguin egg variety. It’s the second book in the Alaskan Pebble Gifters series, and will only make sense if you’ve read the first book.

“I’m an Emperor Penguin shifter. We believe in a place called the Eternal Ice. It’s supposed to be so beautiful, a mortal can’t lay their eyes on it without going blind,” I say as I breech him, and his body hugs me so tight, I don’t know if I’ll last long.
His hand squeezes my arm, his breath catching.
“You’re as lovely as the Eternal Ice, Ansel. You’re going to make me blind.”

i didn’t think that an mpreg mm romance between a 47-year-old penguin shifter single dad who likes to cook and a 23-year-old femme polar bear shifter who’s a fashion designer and likes lingerie would partly help me out of my reading slump but here we are.

ever since recovering from covid i’ve been struggling with my recent reads, so these light-hearted/fluff/no angst/ott love stories have been melting my heart and making me giggle at 3 am.

🐧 24 year age difference (i love eating this up idc what anyone says)
🐻‍❄️ second-chance at finding love
🐧 mpreg (although it was my first time reading about these two species)
🐻‍❄️ single dad/fashion designer student
🐧 a little bit of daddy kink
🐻‍❄️ omega/omega, but even with the different power dynamics, they aren’t treated entirely different or like they’re less
🐧 everyone is gay and we love to see it

This book is certainly ... interesting. I'm still processing what I read. There's just a lot to unpack: penguin shifters, polar bear shifters, Alphas & omegas, blood bonds, pebbles, magic, knotting, mermen, m-preg (egg hatching to be specific), Daddy kink, lace panties, and plenty of smutty goodness.

Ansel and Daniel's relationship, on the other hand, barely scratched the surface. It was lust at first sight that turned to love in the blink of an eye.

I had so many questions about this world: Are there other kinds of shifters (besides bears and penguins)? Where are the humans? Do the humans know about the shifters? Aren't polar bears predators who might kill the penguins? 🤔

Maybe I'm overanalyzing this, but on top of being hot, this book is also confusing and tries to incorporate too many ideas into a single story.

Ansel's lingerie nest was hilarious tho. 😂

3.75 ⭐️

I’m really happy to see people that are so determine to do something happy in their life and reading about Ansel made me feel content. He was saving money and plan to get a sperm donor someday to take care of babies. He wants babies 🥹☹️ Although I hate babies, but that’s so adorable of him 💗💗

“Once I have twenty, and my alpha mother finally promotes me to full designer, I can start shopping for sperm donors. I won’t be alone forever. Someday, I’ll be able to hold a child in my arms, just like Lewis.”

Bellows can write anything and I read it, I think I only love insta love when it’s written by her agagagaga. This was same as the others (though I didn’t fancy it that much), easy, cute, kinky daddy/boy dynamic, a little porny as starters, and as usual can’t be put down :)

I didn’t really get the whole pregnancy and sperm donor omega/omega part so I didn’t care as much as I should have. I guess that’s the boring part for me. But I’m happy for their pregnancy yay! I so, so LOVE Ansel’s confidence in himself the most in this book. The way he embraces his beauty and personality is really something. So admirable, I love him!

Their relationship is build up from insecurities which lead to some issues involving lack of communication 😬😬 I was a little frustrated because please, just talk it out. you both want the same thing. At the same time, I kinda get it honestly, because it wouldn’t be easy with Daniel’s ex-mate and Ansel’s past sex life. I just wish they actually talked wayyyy before they did and I simply don’t need the whole “our secret got out now I’m questioning this relationship” situation. The guilty moments just didn’t feel so guilty anymore. And why the fuck name the baby Armani? LMAO 💀💀💀💀

I can’t deny I teared up like two times over some cute and romantic moments and the daddy/boy dynamic with the fisting is pretty hot 🫣 eheh

favourite details:

☺︎ “Shhhh I’ve got you.” ☹️☹️☹️
☺︎ Daniel’s notes for Ansel AAAAAAHHG🥹
☺︎ “White is beautiful on you.” AHHH I WAS CRYING
☺︎ “Uh, Dad. You can obviously see their sex now. But we’ve decided to raise them in the penguin shifter tradition. Todd’s moms think it’s brilliant. Very forward-thinking and all of that. So we’re going to stick with they/them pronouns, okay?” AGAGAGAGAGAGAG NOT ME CRYING SO HARD AT THIS PART😭😭😭😭 I WANNA BE PENGUIN😭😭

This author has a way of writing where I’m always totally in from the very first line.
It started quite frivolous at Lewis and Todd’s home. Ansel, only good for a quickie and never be kept for the long term, hitting on Lewis’ father Daniel. Ansel is sparkling young and beautiful. When we get a first look at his thoughts, omg my heart crashed.

Daniel is left by his alpha and never expects to find love again. When he connects with Ansel it has to be kept secret because he wants to inform Lewis first.
Daniel and Ansel are something special. Ansel yearns to be a father and loves to have a Daddy. Daniel can’t give him what he deserves.
Then the magic steps in !!

I love all the rituals, the attributes needed for certain actions and when the magic comes in I was so thrilled. I love all the beautiful creatures shaped here.
It was all quite original. All the different families become one.
An awesome, sparkling captivatingly written story, the scenery was more than excellent.
I adore these different shifters immensely!

Penguins, Polar Bears & a Merman Oh My!
Let me start out by congratulating Ms. Bellows on her exquisite world-building, which she continues in this second book of the series. She has added layers and layers more of complexity and flavor to the setting and culture. Ansel was one of my favorite people from the first book, so I could not wait to devour this one the moment it was released. He and Daniel so beautifully complemented each other, each able to help the other when needed. There was so much incredible emotion and genuineness to their relationship that I found myself brought to tears so many times, I am glad I never chanced reading it while riding the bus. Now that would have been embarrassing! This low-angst, heavy on the love love story was fun, sexy, filled with humor and a joy to read!

Reread/Relisten: February 2023

This was still cute the second time around.

I am surprised that Lewis was okay with his friend being with his dad, there was no drama with that which was shocking haha

3 stars: July 2022

Compared to book one I didn’t love it as much, but it was still cute.

This had some Daddy/boy dynamics but not too much. Happened later in the book. I don’t mind that dynamic but Just a heads up for those who don’t like that.

Overall a good book, but forgettable… 😬😂

Polar Bear and Penguin shifters, plus a merman ! Mpreg shifter romance.
Ansel, 23, Omega Polar Bear shifter, finds an attractive older guy at Lewis and Todd's house. The older man is Daniel, 47, Lewis' Dad, an Omega Penguin shifter.
Ansel, with great fashion sense and talent in designing,

has two Mom's who are bitter fashion industry rivals in the Polar Bear community. So, Ansel has never had a sincere man to date, or even care about him, choosing to be loyal with his parents for business reasons. He just wants children and unconditional love, is that too much to ask?

When he sees Daniel, he flirts right away, because the older, silver haired, gorgeous man is just his type. But, sweet Daniel hasn't had sex in 18 years,

and needs some help getting back into dating. Plus Daniel thinks he's too old for young, vibrant, Ansel. Ansel would love to have a bit of "Daddy/boy" sexy times, and a chance to wear his lacy underthings, too.

We get to watch the activities, the sad feelings, the stories of their past, and more.
My heart broke for Ansel, so alone and insecure, while Daniel was just as lonely and is someone who missed out on a lot in life. There is a deepness here that bonds our feelings with our guys, and we get laughs and tears as we watch them form their bond.

Along the way we learn the rituals, ceremonies and history of both Penguin and Polar Bear issues. That thread of love gets stronger, and soon we have a twist of excitement in the air, that leads to nesting and eggs.

This is cute, interesting, sexy and we have the promise of more to come.
ENJOY !

This story was incredibly sweet. Ansel, an attractive and outgoing 23 year old polar bear shifter falls in love with his friend's father-in-law (and soon to be grandfather 🥰) 47 year old penguin shifter Daniel.

Both men are omegas and have thus far been unlucky in love. While Ansel sleeps with many men who refuse to see him as anything more than a hookup Daniel, because of penguin shifter customs, has been celibate for the last 18 years. When they find each other their romance is beautiful and the sexy times are spicy. Like, who needs a knot when you've got a fist? Right? 🤭

Watching them navigate the very different cultures that each grew up in was fascinating and I loved learning more about the world they lived in. Their HEA made me so happy and I wish I were given more time skips into their future so I can see how much their family grows. I never thought I'd get so attached to these characters. 😊💙 4 stars

I, um… ❤️💔 haven’t been writing reviews lately because I’m still/back in that emotionally overwhelmed space where I don’t have the spoons for anything other than escape *sigh, sob* and I feel bad attaching that black emotional energy to my reviews and to y’all’s GR space.

That said, I want to give this series a quick shout out. In the midst of my emotional angst and existential despair, A Pebble for Lewis and An Egg for Ansel have been a wonderful oasis of sweetness and calm for my turbulent, emotionally overwhelmed mind. I’ve said many times I tend to shy away from omegaverse and mpreg and there’s a kink in An Egg for Ansel that I also tend to try to avoid but as I’ve said about Roe Horvat’s omegaverse, Bellows’ omegaverse is so sweet and romantic that it ends up working for me anyway. And whew! There’s one knotting element that *cringe, cry, laugh, eye bug* YIKES! Still, love these stories even with the stuff that makes me 🙈

The cherry on top is that in addition to providing a lovely escape and calming refuge, they made me laugh.

4 sweet and solid stars.

Love and hugs y’all! Take care of each other 💛❤️💛

4.5 stars Heartfelt. Hilarious. Hot.

With An Egg for Ansel, Amy Bellows continues enriching , expanding and layering the world built and mythology she created around her Penguins and Polar bears shifters.

This funny, kinky, hopeful, quirky, fresh , sexually explicit and hot AF written story is one of the most touching, emotionally satisfying, out loud laughing books , I read in a long while. I truly enjoyed reading it.

I loved both heroes, Daniel and Ansel. They're completely opposite , in personality, background , age, culture , even species...one is a 47 years old , shy and inexperienced grocery store owner, cargo wearing shorts , Penguin shifter and other is a glittery , 23 years old, outgoing, life of the party, Fashion designer, Haute Couture wearing, Polar bear shifter. And those differences between them make their relationship, love, chemistry and passion , magical .

This is a series to read if you want fluff and sweet, not something to overly think about.

I was a little shocked by the dynamic between Daniel and Ansel because I didn't see that coming but I did enjoy it.

All in all, a cute, fluffy read with some surprisingly good sexy times.

Adorable

Ansel & Daniel are perfect together. Each have reasons to be skeptical of relationships or top of the age & species difference but they jump all in.

I’m looking forward to more in the series.

Sweet!!

I expected something cheesy but it so wasn’t. I’d just read the first book which blew me away so I don’t know why I expected it to be empty fluff. I should have known better... tsk tsk...

I wasn’t sure if I would like Ansel, he being a slutty polar bear shifter and all. And Daniel seemed far too fragile for Ansel’s “attention” so it definitely surprised me when it wasn’t just about jumping in bed and scratching itches. It was tender and sweet and definitely had more meat on its bones than I expected.

We also see layers of a very diverse society that isn’t very tolerant of each other. But then we find out it’s because they don’t understand one another. It’s little bits like that that make this story so much richer than it would typically be.

I really can’t wait for the next one!!

See you later I am moving in with my Polarbear!!!
description

I absolutely fell in love with this series after I have read the fist book I was so exited to see that there were going to be more....

Daniel is Ansel's best friend sort of x lover's mate's father. Daniel was anti Polarbear when his son mated with a polarbear but, love fix all. Daniel is just so happy to see his son so happy and he has changed his mind about the polarbears. Daniel did not have an easy mating with his x mate and in general not a big fan of any alpha's

Ansel is the flirt of the party the guy you wanted to sleep with but not take home. He love fashion and dressing up and all he ever wanted was a Daddy to take care of him.

I loved these two together it just gave me all sorts of fuzzy loving feelings. But they have to overcome a few hurdles .... (I am not going to spoil them)

So if 2 omega's really -really - really wants a baby together what will they need?
Magic!!!

I loved the first book in this series and couldn’t remember why I didn’t read this one. Oh, I should never read a book without carefully reading the reviews. I was loving this story until Angel started talking about a Daddy. I just don’t enjoy Daddy/ boy stories. I loved Dom/sub stories but, when you start calling your lover Daddy I can’t help it, I cringe. 😬 Although it doesn’t turn me on it doesn’t bother me if men like to wear women’s underwear so that didn’t bother me.

It’s a well written story so if you like Daddy/Boy stories. I highly recommend it. For me it’s just 3 stars.

Two lonely sweethearts, one perfect love story.

This is a bittersweet age-gap romance between a young polar bear shifter who's been ostracized by all of the male shifters because of his parent's political views, and an older Penguin shifter who's been alone for eighteen years, after his first husband left him.

An omega/omega romance.
I really love the vibrant universe Amy Bellows has created, the traditions and shifter specific customs.

Welp, that escalated quickly.

I felt like these two jumped immediately into being lovers, and then even more immediately into having babies… it all happened very fast and there was very little tension built up so the climaxes were rather unsatisfying.

I’m down for some cute baby-making mechanics but these two having children immediately right now after just meeting was a little much. And then there was a lot of weird magic that felt like it came out of nowhere (turns out it came from the other books in this author’s universe, but I didn’t really know that going in… I had to look some stuff up on Goodreads to get the context for mermen suddenly appearing…)

I just didn’t have time to fall in love with these characters. Okay, that’s not 100% true… I totally loved Ansel actually. I just didn’t have time to be convinced that these two were in love and needed to make a family like, YESTERDAY. Before they’ve even decided to be in a committed relationship… Not my cup of tea. I’d say I tolerate baby-making if it’s in the context of growing a relationship. Not as the sole point of the love story.

And they basically never shifted. WHAT’s the POINT of shifters if they don't shift????

I need more omega/omega pairings tho, cuz that’s the gender-fucked lesbian energy I want from all of my gay books.

This was such a cute story! I couldn't resist reading about happened with Ansel and Daniel after the ending of A Pebble for Lewis. I'm so glad I did because this was just as adorable as the first book. I must admit I wasn't expecting the daddy/boy stuff so that was a bit of a surprise. I didn't read any other reviews before I started it so that was on me a little bit. If I had, I would have known. It's not a dealbreaker but not something I really enjoy. I still would have read this to find out about Ansel and Daniel's HEA, but it would have been more enjoyable without it in my opinion. It felt a bit out of place almost? Anyway, I still recommend giving this a read if you enjoyed the first book!

I'm not a particular fan of age gaps, especially when the older character is old enough to be parent of the younger one, but I like Daniel and Ansel enough to make the book readable for me. I'm sure someone who doesn't mind age gaps would like it a lot better than I do

*sigh* could this be more perfect?

Oh Amy, you my dear have out done yourself with this one.

First off, there was something just so healing about this book. Even though much of what happens isn't something that I can immediately relate to I, can definitely and besides empathize. I can see how many people could relate to Daniel's character in this book. How they can see his struggles and his journey and get something out of it. At least that's how I felt about Ansel. I always relate to the sassy or outgoing or however you want to define what makes the non-traditional characters a lot more than the shy sweet ones. Not that I don't love them (because Lewis was absolutely adorable) but there's just something about Ansel. I couldn't help but smile. I get him. And seeing him find himself and realize that he is worthy of the world and he is able to define himself was therapeutic in a way. Yes I know this is supposed to just be a cheesy shifter book but let me have this okay!

Oh! And the smut. Let's talk about the smut because in a book that is just under 200 pages, is there a lot! Haha. I'm not complaining of course because Lord was it great. Between the daddy Kink and lingerie, I was more than here for this omega on omega action. So if your any thing like me, you will enjoy.

Then there's all these little things that take this from a fun, quick read, to something special. Like the fact that Daniel is constantly making sure that Ansel has fresh food to eat. Or how Ansel has to get the oil pan from under his car so it won't freeze over because they live in Anchorage. Or even the fact that there is a real and actual culture for each shifter. We got a bit in Lewis and Todd's book, but I feel like we got even more here. Those things give this book a heart and a soul. It's really special.

Great characters, awesome smut, a nesting scene that was exta af, and epilogue I didn't hate makes this an easy five stars. I love it. And if you like shifter books or omegaverse books, you will love it too. I'm even going to go out on a limb and say if you've never read an omegaverse book, I think you might enjoy this one. Granted if you don't like mpreg, move on but if you're open I really think you'll enjoy it. 5 stars. Heck, 10 stars because we've come full circle. I can't say how we've come full circle because it's a massive spoiler but if you read any of Amy's other books you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Daniel is awesome

Ok, so I'm reading this series again because of Just the Nests as it reminded me of the glorious nests in these books.

So in all honesty, this is one of my favorite stories of the series. Ansel and Daniel are great, their connection was instant, and their babies cute. Omega/Omega pairings are a rare treat.

But it was the fact that Daniel was an omega who was abandoned and was strong enough to go after his heart that gets me.

And the Daddying. Y'all know I love my DaddyDoms.
