A patron's question about a stool with a bullet hole in it brings Ethan Marston back to one of his most gruesome cases. When the Miami Port Authority opens a shipping container full of bodies, Marsten and Holm will find on the trail of a human trafficking operation unlike any they have ever seen before.
Matt Lincoln has lived his entire life on the coast and he wouldn't have it any other way. A lifelong fan of Travis McGee, Magnum PI, and just about anyone who knows their way around a boat and a good cigar, Matt now lives where the sand meets the surf with his beautiful wife, a son who reminds him way too much of himself at that age, and an Irish Setter who he can never seem to tire out. Life is good.
I read the first book in the series, Rolling Thunder, and liked it so much I started reading the rest of the series. Book 2 did not disappoint. Lots of action and likeable characters.
"Pride of Barbados", second in the Coastal Fury series, sees author Matt Lincoln settle in a bit - I found the first book somewhat lacking and, in fact, noted that I hoped the series would calm down just a little. This time round there is a very clear plot, and a sense of urgency in finding who is abusing - sometimes killing - young women on an industrial scale in a sex-trafficking ring. Ethan Marston does not, of course, stand idly by and is soon on the trail in Barbados where, as luck would have it, he finds a clue to the missing pirate ship he seeks. And, unlike most clues, this leads him straight to the underwater item he is looking for. I wish more treasures maps were this good! Throw in kidnapping, bar fights, shootouts and a hand to hand battle with a giant and you've got the gist of the story. I did learn something from the book - silver coins do not fare well in salt water! Matt Lincoln notes that he has always had a fondness for Travis McGee - so I am heading off to re-read "The Deep Blue Goodbye" by John D. MacDonald, to see how they measure up.
Wide ranging acton as human trafficking turns to murder and evil Yrs to win out
Here are few things worse than enslavng people, breaking their will, an using violence and drugs to force obedience. Outrage and swift retribution come early as this tale of exploitation and greed is turned around through rapid twists and changes. An excellent addition to the series and well worth the time.
Love the format of talking with bar mates entering into the stories. Fast paced, intrigue and interesting locations. Would like more romantic encounters as love my romance novels. Would also enjoy more boating, diving underwater situations. Good writer and fast paced stories.
I liked this book a lot, and so far, the series. The action makes it hard to put down and I like the overall areas the color took place in. Looking forward to more books in the series.
Well written exhibiting talented character development with purpose and intent to capture the reader's interest and time. Enjoyable plot that will continue to entertain. Looking forward to more from Mr. Lincoln.
Good story. Loved the characters,as well as the tempo of the story line. Kept me engaged enough to not want to put it down. I hope Emily doesn't disappear from future novels as she certainly is a good addition.
Wasn’t all that impressed with book 1 but persevered to boo2 and as the action improved I got into the book and now I’m ready for book 3. Feel like your group of military and want more of the story, waiting to find out about Robby.
This one is just as good as the first in the series. Great story and well done characters. The only thing I’m not looking forward to is when we finally find out what happened to Robbie.
Great storytelling. Picked this book up on impulse and got hooked. Very engaging charcters and well thought out plot. Love the historical references and I look forward to the next one.
A reminder about the seriousness of human trafficking
This story is a definite reminder about the horrors of human trafficking and how it can happen to anyone. This is an easy story to read as well as entertaining.
Loved the stories in Book 1 and 2. Like Marathon and Robbie, good team. Easy read but good stories. Love the way he starts at the present and tells the stories as in the past. Anxious to read all of them.!
Enjoyed it just as much as the first one! The writing is so good! Enjoyed the dark side of the story, the action side of it with a touch of romance. I may just have to read them all.
