Fandom: Supernatural Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester, Dean Winchester & Sam Winchester -------------------------------------------------- The briefing was simple: ‘Stand guard over the Michael Sword until the battle is ready to commence. Await further instructions.’
Castiel doesn’t mind working security duty; he was briefed shortly after the initial salvation of the Sword from the pit, and again before taking up his position. He knows what to do. However, it’s easy to forget that the green room isn’t real. Time moves differently there, the space ever-changing to make a prison of mountains, cathedrals, salt flats, orchards, and whatever Castiel was led to believe about Heaven’s greatest weapon—Dean Winchester is something entirely unexpected. what the fuck what the actual shit? first of all, someone give this person a book deal so fanfic to novel stories can get popular for things like so says the sword and not fifty shades and after. Secondly WHAT THE FUCK HOW DARE THEY
Another fic. Is this cheating? Well, if it's on GoodReads, and when in Rome... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
First and foremost, komodobits may genuinely be Shakespeare reincarnated. Their writing is some of, if not the best style of writing I have ever seen on any fanfiction platform, and I wholeheartedly believe that they should be a published author. Not for this story, of course, but for others that might just be able to suction in readers the same way this story did to me. Will we ever know about this? No, probably not. But I hope that somewhere, they are sharing original stories to the world and not just a fandom, and getting the love they deserve back for it.
For the story itself, even though I read the tag, I did not actually expect it to be what is essentially . Please do not interpret this as an insult—I loved the surprise. The characters were so incredibly on-point with their canon characterization in the actual series. I feel as if they might've been physically injected into the author's mind while writing this, so that every single trait of each character was stocked within each crevice of their mind. I particularly enjoyed the way Heaven was still portrayed as corrupted, as it often is in Supernatural, though this time not quite censored.
I really liked the concept of
My only wish is that there were bonus chapters, or perhaps even a bonus story, about , as well as how . Of course, that's just a me thing. Incredible work all around!
Overall, excellent storytelling, incredible attention to detail, and wonderful characterization.
I have to reread it soon since I sadly don't remember enough to praise this as it deserves to be. What I can say now though is that it was brilliant and magical and with such a powerful blow to it. Canon divergence done in such an impeccable way to demonstrate a hefty relationship. This book brought a bright and mysterious feeling to my otherwise dull holidays spent as per usual with my grandparents.
4.5 stars. An intriguing fanfic set in an alternate future. Dean is trapped in the beautiful room after suffering 150 years in hell. Castiel is charged with guarding the Michael Sword.
