Against the odds, the Rowan and Holly hit it off, and they come up with a plan. Holly needs to get away from her pack, and Rowan needs a mate. Why not kill two birds with one stone and have Holly go back with Rowan, posing as his mate?

It’ll work for a while at least. Or that’s what they think. Their plan begins to unravel when it turns out they’re a lot more than friends. In fact, they’ve been meant for one another all along, despite the fact that this is unheard of between a wolf and a bear!

Will the star-crossed lovers overcome the odds against them?

Alpha’s Nanny (Bears Of The Wild #4)

He's a strong, powerful alpha...
She's a nanny he can't resist...
The only problem is she's a human!

A lot of Ash's pack are unhappy about the union. He doesn't know whom to trust. When Ash receives messages that threaten Easton and his daughter, he will stop at nothing to protect the two people that mean more to him than anything!

Lola Gabriel’s Bears of the Wild series is made up of Alpha’s Enemy, Brother’s Best Friend, Bear’s Fake Bride, and Alpha’s Nanny, with all being super quick reads. Although they were easy to read, I failed to fall in love with them.

Each book offered a different trope, but all the books were alike in the fact they were very surface level. We never went as deep with the stories as I had hoped, and I finished each one hoping for more.

If you’re looking for something quick without much depth, these books work.

Enjoy each and everyone of these books. It took some time to read all of them but it was well worth it. Each book deals with the alpha finding his mate in the most unlikely place. The stories are entertaining and draw you in. They are a great read and I would highly recommend them.
Alpha’s Enemy - Keira and Axel meet and realize they are mates. The problem is they are from different clans that have been feuding for several hundred years. Keira is seriously injured and Axel and her brother Chance go back in time to get a cure for her injuries. What they did not know was, they were sent back to discover what the feud was actually about as no one seemed to know. There is a HEA but a lot happens first.
Brother’s Best Friend - The story revolves around Chance and Harlow and the realization that they are mates. Unfortunately Harlow is to be bound to Travis as his pack no longer believes in fated mates. There is danger and violence and Travis does not fight fair but in the end things work out for Harlow and Chance. This is a continuation of the first story.
Bear’s Fake Bride - Rowan, alpha of the bear pack is bonded with Holly who is a wolf shifter. Because of great misunderstandings, a battle occurs between the two packs but a truce is finally found and they join ranks.
Alpha’s Nanny - Ash finds his true mate to be a human, Easton. Mating to a human is rare but it has happened in the past. She is accepted by most but two cause her to almost die. After a debate with himself, Ash turns her in a chance at saving her life.

Good but not her best!

I have read Lola Gabriel's works before and found her Book's about shifters to be extremely entertaining. Her characters have flaws but also demonstrate great strength in their ability to recognize and fix themselves. Lola Gabriel also creates steamy love scenes but balances those with intense fantasy adventures. Her books are filled with magic, fantasy and love. Yet, they all have a similar theme, love of your mate and family is what gives heroes strength!

So I was surprised that I found, Wild Bears, a box set, not up to par with Lola Gabriel's previous read works of art. The four books in this set are except for book 1 and 2 , stand alone novels, not from same pack or set of characters. The premise for each book, covers a bunch of story arcs that have stood the test of time. Yet, somehow, they seemed to be not as deep and well-developed as her other books. They lacked polish. The writing was almost like a new, immature writer.
As an example I noted many editing errors. Normally, I gloss over typos and grammatical errors. I have a brain that fills in the blanks and allows me to get the gist of the story, no matter how many errors are there. But this time I couldn't. For example, in The Alpha's Enemy, (book 1) I re-read complete chapters several times as there seemed to be sentences missing! Not a few words here and there but complete sentences, like Lola forgot what she was writing and skipped a whole thought, moving on to another when she came back to herself. She mixed up character names and forgot in sex scenes if the characters were dressed or undressed when they fell on the bed. Rookie errors, I am not use to seeing in a Lola Gabriel paranormal romance. I found it very distracting!

That being said, I enjoyed two books in the set the most. His Fake Bride and the Alpha's Nanny. These two novels were chock-ful of adventure, true love, and ooo-la-la --- steamy sexy love scenes! Truly Lola Gabriel at her best! The male hero was very flawed, almost to point, of living in his mama's basement, type of character. But meeting his fated mate helps him to discover his deepest desires and become his better self. The drama in these two stories had me rivited, unable to put the book down, way past bedtime! Being so glued to a book, I read it in one session, is to me the ultimate sign of a good book and an excellent author.

So, this box set, Wild Bears, was not completely my favorite, 2 of the 4 books, made it worth my time!

Rounded down because.... -sigh- Where do I even start?
It seems there’s more alphas than I’ve ever seen in a town. That, coupled with loads of insta love stories and not enough world building left me wanting. Bad.
Sure, the sex scenes are great, but I could relate to any of the characters. Not to the point I thought about them after I read them... more often than not I had to pause and when I got back I had to reread a certain chapter to figure out what was what.
What’s also annoying is, if this is a bears shifters, it doesn’t feel like the author did much research on bears. A lot of the terms are equal to most Wolf paranormals out there. Alpha? Pack? None of those exist in the bear world.
If you’re looking for a bunch of similar romances with overused tropes, not much plot and too many inconsistencies, then this would work for you. Otherwise, try something else.

Bears of the wild

4 stories. I didn't like the authors style of writing. First two were okay. I enjoyed reading them. Third was totally unbelievable. Definitely a different take on shifters and alpha. The alphas were like momma' boys. Really not the alpha type. The fourth story was a bit better than the third. Author used phrases u familiar which took away from the enjoyment of reading. I gave it 3 stars bc I really hate giving bad reviews and this really wasn't bad but I guess not my cuppa tea

Love the flow from book to book. A little confusing because in one book said the alpha of the Anchorage pack was Chance, then the same Anchorage pack had Rowan as alpha.

Easy almost seamless flow between books. Two book had different Alphas for the same area pack. A little confusing, besides that I loved reading the books.

Bears of the Wild: shifters

Yes, definitely enjoyed these stories. Expected a connection between the books but they were all separate stories about Alphas finding their mates. That and the mates weren't an easy choice, there was a struggle, sometimes a battle for acceptance. But overall, an enjoyab!e book and a good read. Thank you Lola Gabriel

First time I've encountered shifters living for a really long time, as in centuries. Usually, it's vampires who lived that long.

Anyways, I liked the stories, it's well written. Four alphas finding love, their mates, finding peace between the packs and happiness.

Easy light read

If you want something to keep your mind occupied these are the books for you. The stories are kind of short and don’t give you much detail but they are good. Would love more details in the stories.

Good series

Overall all I enjoyed all 4 of the books. However unlike other series, there was very little character overlap between the books. Book 1 and 2 had the most/strongest connection of characters. Each story was different but they tended to get more violent in each book.

Great story

Just loved the 4 book box set about shifters. There is a lot of intense feelings, laughter, romance, strife, action and just everyday living. Characters for the most part are charming. Couldn't put the book down until the last word of the last book was read.

Easy reading full of fun characters

Wanted a quick read but multiple stories by same author, so I choose this series. I was not disappointed. Each story was unique with surprise endings. Highly recommend.

Stories were ok, but practically the same

Some grammatical errors, wrong names, some scenes didn't make sense. The stories were ok, but each one was practically the same, just some situations slightly different.

Good Shifter Collection

Ms. Gabriel is now on my list of favored writers. I've enjoyed this collection of paranormal stories immensely. The stories were varied in storyline, action, suspense, and romance. I get bored really easily if a writer doesn't have imaginative thinking which keeps me intrigued enough to keep reading. They've got to hook me, hook, line, and sinker. Enjoy!

Heard of the Wild

The last two story's were the best and sweet and life affirming. This version of bear shifters seems to lean towards bears being a bit less flighty than wild counter parts.

If you love bad-boy bear shifters, then this is the collection for you! The set includes: Alpha’s Enemy, Brother’s Best Friend, Bear’s Fake Bride, and Alpha’s Nanny. All of these are excellent choices, and you can read all of them at your leisure! Below are reviews for two of the books to give you an idea of what to expect. You will love these books!

*** Reviewing ALPHA'S ENEMY ***
Axel is an alpha bear shifter whose girlfriend dumped him after a 20-year relationship! Wanting to mourn their lost relationship, he goes to a bar to drown his sorrows. Axel meets an unknown woman named Keira who walks into the bar and joins him in his drinking. Eventually, the two of them recognize that they are fated mates, a very special connection that all mates treasure. Their encounter raises a difficult situation, however, because Keira’s pack is an enemy of Axel’s pack – and even worse, she is the alpha’s sister!

When Keira gets badly injured during a challenge fight between Axel and her brother, Chance, the two alphas need to work together to save her. Their feud has been long-standing, but neither knew the history of what happened to start it. So there is a lot of bad history to overcome. To get help for Keira, Axel will need to seek the aid of the Ambrosia Coven witches and their healing power.

Time travelling comes into play as the witch Agnes tells Axel and Chance that she needs them to go back four hundred years to discover the secret to Keira’s well-being! She gave them protection – which she said they will know when to use – and told them they would know what they were looking for when they found it! Will they accomplish their mission? Will peace be restored between the two packs? Will they save Keira?

*** Reviewing BEAR'S FAKE BRIDE ***
Rowan, an alpha bear, is feeling the pressure from his mom who feels it is time for him to find his mate and produce grandchildren. He decides to take the weekend off in Seattle to relax a little. Once there, he heads over to a small bar and meets Holly, a wolf shifter. Holly has problems also since she was brought to Seattle by her father who wants to arrange her marriage with another clan for political advantage. The meeting with her intended does not go well at all!

As Rowan and Holly talk things over, they decide they might be able to help each other by pretending they are mated. Instead, it causes them even more trouble since no one wants to accept an inter-species mating of bear and wolf. However, what started out being faked is beginning to turn real as the two of them develop deep feelings – they really are true mates! Can they make others understand their odd relationship? Will the others be able to accept their mating?

I love shifter stories! These characters in both stories had a difficult time of things, issues to overcome, pressures and expectations of family to deal with. But fate, as it always does, brings them together to fulfill their destiny. Grab your copy and enjoy these wonderful stories!

This is a great series of books. In the first book, "Alpha's Enemy," the Fairbanks and Juneau packs have been feuding for several hundred years and even though know one knows why, the feud continues. Keira is Chance, the Alpha of Juneau pack's sister and Alex is the Fairbanks Alpha. When Keira and Alex meet they realize they are mates. Will there be peace or will there be a battle to the death. Is there any way to achieve peace? I loved Agnes, the witch in this one.

Brother's Best Friend
Harlow and Chance were friends in Juneau when she was young. He has always been her brother's best friend. She has come home after many years away to announce she will be bonded to Travis from a pack in Canada. When Harlow and Chance see each other, they immediately imprint as mates. Are they destined to be apart forever with her in a loveless relationship and Chance heartbroken? Of course not! This is a HEA paranormal romance but the road to get to the HEA will be a rocky one. I really enjoyed the characters and could feel their pain. I could also feel how close Harlow's brother, Hunter, and Chase were and how torn Harlow and Chase were about not being able to be together. Some heartbreak will be revealed that adds to understanding in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the story even though I had to put it down and walk away for a few minutes when things got intense. It was definitely worth the time to read it.

Bear's Fake Bride
Take a female wolf being forced into a marriage by her family, add in an alpha bear whose mom is pressuring him into getting married and you have two people ready to make a deal to get their families off their backs. Little did they know the trouble they would cause and that the connection between them would be real. Inter-species relationships are not accepted and Holly's family wants her back so they can strengthen their alliance between wolf packs. Talk about a mess! It is a rough ride before they will get the acceptance they so richly deserve. I did find it interesting how the wolves handled mating versus the bears. Unfortunately the book had me hooked and I was up until 3 a.m. reading it. So be forewarned, don't start this book later in the evening if you want to go to sleep.

Alpha's Nanny
Bear clan alpha + human mate = danger. When Ash and Easton meet, they are drawn together. Ash tries to fight it knowing it will cause problems with some members of his clan. As he tries to fight his connection with Easton, he tends to draw her in then push her away. Talk about confusing a poor girl! I loved Easton. She was such a sweetheart and how she interacted with Penelope was wonderful. Pen is a precious little girl and is a real bright spot in the story. There is some steam to be found between these fated mates along with a few twists. Once again the witches found in this series make an appearance and are an integral part of the story. All in all, it was a good quick read.

Alpha’s Enemy
When Axel tries to drink away his ex-girlfriend leaving him, he never expected his mate to walk through the door. And after spending the afternoon with her, and then one amazing night, he never wants to let her go. But Keira is hiding a secret- one they may tear them apart. She’s the sister of a rival pack and he won’t be happy about this mating.

But when Keira gets in the middle of their feud, Axel and Chance get sent back in time and see their packs were once allies and the animosity was from their fathers over a woman.

Axel and Keira get their happy ending and the packs have a new alliance.

Brother’s Best Friend
This book focuses on Chance and his best friend Hunter’s little sister Harlow. Harlow is visiting her home for the first time in over a century and she brought her boyfriend with. Just to announce they are getting married. But, it turns out they’re not mates as Chance is Harlow’s mate.

But things are done differently where Harlow’s from and she’s doing this for her mom. But at what cost. When Harlow’s soon to be ex shows his true colors, Harlow and her mom flee back to Juneau with Chance and Hunter.

Harlow and Chance get their happy ending. Something that has yet to be explained is how Mayes works. Is it just love at first sight or is there more to it that isn’t explained.

Bears’s Fake Bride
What was supposed to be a weekend away from his mother worrying he’ll never settle down, Rowan found his mate in an unlikely spot. Holly is just trying to escape her arranged marriage and when she meets Rowan in Seattle, she feels an instant connection. But she’s a wolf while he’s a bear. And species have never mixed as far as they know.

But when Rowan comes up with a plan to be fake mates just for a little while, all things change and they find out how well they do mix.

But drama is never far behind and Holly’s pack comes looking for her. Holly and Rowan get their HEA.

Alpha’s Nanny
When Ash’s nanny up and quits on him with no notice, the barista at the coffee shop has an idea and recommends her new friend, Easton. Who turns out is perfect. And human.

But that doesn’t stop Ash from getting to know her and it gets pointed out by a witch that Ash has imprinted on her. And this has happened in the past as well, so she knows a way to turn Easton if they do choose.

Easton takes the news of Ash being a shifter quite well. But a surprise from Ash’s past doesn’t want them to be together, severely hurting Easton in the process.

Easton and Ash get their happy ending.

All four of these books can be read as stand-alone. But I loved that each of the shifters had their own obstacles to overcome and they found their forever.

Each story was different

Sometimes you read a collection and they seem all the same but this collection was all different. With the exception of one, the characters were likable. The plots were good and the stories were fairly interesting. These were quick mating stories so it wasn't dragged out. Ok read.

Alpha's Enemy: Well, that was awkward, you're not dad! What Axel thought was a random, liaison turned out to be a deliberate, strategic exploratory outreach that went dramatic very quickly. Connor challenged Axel to what was basically a duel to the death for pride & territory. Unfortunately, Keira, Axel's mate & Connor's sister got hurt. There was still love, except between Axel and Connor. Keira's injuries changed the conversation. The bumpy road just got very pot holey. Will Connor and Axel ever be able to talk civilly? Will Keira recover? Can Axel and Keira find their path to happy? This was a good story with twists, turns and surprises. Nicely done.

Brother's Best Friend: Next time siblings complain about teasing, check out this family! Hunter and Chase teased Marlow so badly, it is 200 years since she visited home. Chase hadn't seen her since she was 14 and he couldn't imagine her as a grown woman. Then, he saw her and daaaaaannnnng! He recognized her as his mate! Harlow came to visit with, Travis. They were planning a bonding ceremony. Now, how does that work? Chase, fated mate. Travis, bonded partner? Hmmm. Exciting story. A few turns, hops/jumps and sqiggles. Interesting surprises. Good job.

Bear's Fake Bride: Roman, Alpha bear may think he's grown, but his Momma thinks it's time he found a mate and gave her grandbabies. He takes a break then meets Holly, a wolf shifter. Holly's dad is trying to arrange a marriage for political advantages. They talk and decide to pretend to be mated to put everyone off. But inter-species relationships is frowned upon. How do they navigate a fake mating? What happens if they develop feelings and realize they may be mates? How can that work? What about Holly's arranged mating? What problems will this bring?

Alpha's Nanny: Ash, bear Alpha of Sitka pack is a single dad to Penelope. Easton, best friend to Hannah, a transplant to Sitka and best friend to Hanna becomes the new nanny because Ash's regular nanny bailed. They try to keep the relationship professional until they can't. His pack is unhappy with the inter species relationship. They are really going to be angry when told Easton is Ash's mate. Someone directs threats to Easton and Penelope and Ash must make some difficult decisions after consulting his friend in the coven. Can Ash prioritize in such a way that's fair to all? Is Easton prepared for hostilities? Can Ash find a solution?

This is a must read series. The stories will have you hooked right from the beginning to the very last word. You will not be disappointed.
Alpha Enemy:
A well written story that will keep you turning the pages till the end to see what happens next. Alpha male Axel has been dumped by his long term girlfriend and drowns his sorrows at the bar where he meets Keira. They realize that they are fated mates, but there is a little problem. One, she is the brother of another pack who happens to be the alpha. Oh yeah the other pack is the the pack that they are feuding with. So no problem right. You will not put this one down till the end. A must read

Brother's Best Friend:
A great entertaining read. It will keep you reading till the end. The story was well written and flowed well, with likable characters, and great chemistry. His best friend’s little sister isn’t so little anymore. And this alpha will do everything possible to claim her as his own. You will enjoy this book.

Alpha' Nanny:
A well written shapeshifter read. Ash is a single father with a two year old, who needs a nanny. Easton has moved from LA to start over in Alaska and is looking for a job as a nanny. Her friend sets her up with Ash and the sparks fly right from the beginning. There is only one problem Easton is human and As is a alpha bear shifter, and the two don't mix. Things start to happen to Easton and Ash will stop at nothing to proctect her and he realizes that she is his mate. What will the pack think about this? Will they get their happily ever after? A great read. The story was well, written, likeable characters, and great chemistry.

Lola Gabriel does not dissapoint with her "Brothers of the Wild" series. Ms. Gabriel always delivers well-written stories with wonderful characters that grab your attention quickly. There is a great combination of action, drama, and romance, even some witchcraft. Ms. Gabriel smoothly blends romance together with "racism/specieism".  Keeping pack blood pure is extremely important to some packs, others believe in true mate bonds.

Alpha's Enemy: The Juneau and Fairbanks clans have been enemies back to their grandfathers time.  Now two of the grandchildren meet and find they are mates. A trip back in time may be the only way to save these two.

Brother's Best Friend: Harlow, her brother Hunter and Chance were best friends in Juneau when she was young.  Now after many years, Harlow has returned to Juneau to announce her upcoming bonding .  When Chance bumps into Harlow at the welcome home dinner, he realizes she's his mate.  He's hearing she's to be bonded to someone else, how could this happen?  Are they really mates?

Bear's Fake Bride: Could be the best story in this box set.  Rowan just needed some time from his mom's nagging about marriage and grandchildren, so he takes a mini-vacation to Seattle. Holly has just one night of fun left before she's required to meet her arranged husband-to-be. When Rowan and Holly meet each other, they find they enjoy each other's company. They just didn't know their instant friendship would start a war between their packs.

The Nanny's Alpha is a sweet romance with strong characters that you can't help but fall in love with.  Then there are the scene stealers: Pen the 2-yr old and Pickles the cat.
