I’ve got a problem. A big muscly problem, with icy blue eyes, long dark hair, and tight leather pants.
Keryth is the Night Realm king. My father’s greatest enemy. And my fated mate.
It isn’t easy being a fae princess of the Day Realm. Our kingdom has suffered hardships, but if my father won’t approve of the mating bond with Keryth, they’ll be putting another body in a casket—mine. If we’re kept apart, we’ll both die.
Too bad my father doesn’t care about that. His solution is to lock me away forever.
When Keryth comes to rescue me, I know we can take on anything as long as we’re together. But old rivalries die hard, and the past sins of our families come back to haunt us, affecting our future and the ones we love the most.
This novella is an introduction to a world of fated mates, mayhem, and magic. Although Zella and Keryth get their happily ever after, this story ends on a cliffhanger for another character. Continue Kirian's story in The Fae King's Curse!

Between Dawn and Dusk: A Prequel is book one in the Between Dawn and Dusk series by Jamie Schlosser. This is Jamie’s first time writing in the paranormal romance world and WOW! What an introduction she has made. I loved this. As much PNR as I have read, I believe this might be my first fae romance book.
Zella is a fae princess of the Day Realm. Her kingdom does not get along with the neighboring Night Realm. Not everyone in either of the Realms is ever lucky enough to find their fated mates. But once they do, they will slowly go mad if they are not able to be together. Zella has met her mate. But fate decided to complicate matters when her chosen mate was the King of the Night Realm.
Keryth is the Night Realm king. He has been waiting for four years for Zella to be old enough to become his mate. But when he asked her father for permission to enter into the mating bond with his daughter, he was refused. He could feel himself slipping further each day that he wasn’t allowed to be with his beloved. So there was only one way to remedy this situation. He would rescue her.
“I’ve lived for a hundred and ninety-seven years, but I wasn’t truly alive until I met her.”
Not only must Keryth and Zella fight against their families to be together, they must face many other obstacles as well. But their love for each other, their bond, makes them stronger.
“I wanted you before I even knew you. I could never be with another. All of me is yours.”
I loved this so much. I love this world Jamie has created and I can’t wait for more. The next book, The Fae King’s Curse, will be Zella and Keryth’s son, Kirian’s story. It will be here in just a little while and I can’t wait to read it.
J. Schlosser had the perfect ingredients to entice me to this fantastic - both literally and figuratively - world. A world with kingdoms, royalties, realms, curses, magic and fated mates. With a wonderful scenery in the background, love, passion, strong bonds, absolute betrayal, obstacles and intrigues had primary roles in this amazing introduction of the series.
Zella, the princess of the Day Realm, was fated mate to Keryth, the King of the Night Realm. They came from rival realms, but since they were fated mates nothing could prevent them from being together. They were perfect for each other, both strong, protective and devoted. Their connection and chemistry was unbelievable!
Wondrously written, fast paced, dual pov, beautiful fae world’s descriptions, filled with romance, steamy scenes, twists, suspense, action and angst. Zella and Keryth reached their hea, however their family’s story is continued in the next book.
Since this being a prequel and having a short length, evidently there were a couple of topics that needed further elaboration, yet it was fantastic❗️
Once you enter in this fae world, you have almost no possibility to escape...
3.5 Stars This is a prequel to the series and though a novella it’s actually quite a decent length it also sets up things up brilliantly for the upcoming series. It certainly entices and draws you in and I’m very much on board now to read more set in this fascinating world.
This is a fantasy romance set in the fae realm and it involves fated mates princes Zella of the day realm and king of the night realm Keryth their kingdoms are enemies because of past strife and relations are tenuous.
Zella and Keryth have known for a while of there fated-bond having met to negotiate trade deals between there realms they felt it instantly but they have waited to solidify their union due to Zella’s young age. Now she’s all grown up and ready but her father is adamantly opposed to the match believing the night realm is the cause of the plague affecting his land which also killed his mate. The plague he believes is retaliation for Keryth’s parent's assassination which he also denies having a hand in. Being fated nothing is going to keep these two apart and they will do what’s necessary to be together even if it could potentially cause a war between there two kingdoms.
So this was dual POV and well written and sets the stage really well for book one in the series as I said earlier this is actually a prequel and the next one actually focuses on the son of Keryth and Zella.
There’s plenty of action here and though this is not angsty as our two already have an established connection and are in love there’s still lots going on I definitely wasn’t bored. I am looking forward to continuing this series further and if this was meant to hook me into the series as a whole it most certainly accomplished its goal. I can’t wait to learn more and that finale was ever so intriguing. If you like warm fantasy romance set in the fae realm this one would definitely be a fit for you.
This story has left me very intrigued to read more for the series. I absolutely love that the author gave us this look into the Dawn and Dusk universe so we know when The Fae King's Curse arrives, we will be able to immerse ourselves in the universe for an epic ride.
This story definitely gives you a love story between Zella and King Leatherpants - I mean Keryth. We get all the juicy Fae world gossip and some serious sexy times!
Wow, what a great beginning to the series! Between Dawn and Dusk pulled me into this fae world and I was immediately captivated. Fires and storms and evil witches and curses, and a sexy fae king...so fantastical and magical.
The connection between fated mates, Keryth & Zella, was passionate and powerful and their love for each other gave my heart some serious warm-fuzzy flutters.
The world-building in this novella is amazing. Descriptions so vivid and clear, I felt like I was there.
We get introductions to characters - some lovable, some punchable. We get the backstory of those characters, descriptions and history of each realm, and we find out why things are the way they are. The storytelling of this author is superb - I could SEE and FEEL everything.
And that ending? What a tease. A good tease though. I need more!!!! This story packed a punch and left me eager for more. So good!
Keryth was well a damn badass King! Busting his soul mate out with a bang. Soul mates regardless of their species are Magical! They have this beautiful aura about them. It’s selfless and caring and loving and so very beautiful but in the Fae world everything is anything but and while Zella and Keryth wanted everything to be different someone always comes and ruins it!
Brothers are a pain in the ass!
Witches and their damn curses!
And a mate that’s marked by the sky at night!
Damn Jaime killed it with this story and I seriously cannot wait for the next part!
Disclaimer I received an arc copy for an honest and voluntary review!
I've wanted to read this book from the moment I saw the cover. It's so beautiful, isn't it? Love the colours. I've been reading more of fantasy romance lately. Really love this genre. I was happy to discover that the book inside the cover is just as appealing. The writing is light and easy to read, and the story is imaginative and compelling. I loved the author's take on fated mates. The world she created drew me in, I didn't want to leave it when the story ended. Between Dawn and Dusk is a prequel, a love story of a king and a princess from rival kingdoms. It introduces their son, the prince and the main character of the next book, which promises to be even more exciting. Can't wait! This was the first book I read by Jamie Schlosser, and it won't be the last.
Huge Jamie Schlosser fan aka Super Fan. This was her first fantasy book and it was fantastic. She created a wonderful world, that I got sucked right into. And now I am “patiently” waiting for the next book. Ok, so I think we all know I am not patiently waiting, but wait I will. I am so excited to read the next book, and yes my excitement is that real.
Zella is the fae princess of the Day Realm and Keryth is the king of the Night Realm. Mates, fated mates to be exact, and her father is trying to keep them apart, but they aren’t having that. He comes to get his mate, and together these two are powerful, they are bonded and basically one, so together they can withstand anything and everything, and they do.
This was a safe read with 2 powerful fated mate virgins...I know, right...aawwwe, so dang sweet. “Don’t you know how much you mean to me? How long I’ve waited for you? I wanted you before I even knew you. I could never be with another. All of me is yours.”. And the sexy heat between them. Fantastic storyline, the couples story and the ongoing Realms storyline. Some shocking twist, and a powerful epilogue...leaving you begging for more. Yes begging, don’t judge me. Fantastic read....next book please...nowish works for me😉.
This is a very cute novella prequel to the next book The Fae King's Curse. Based on this novella, I really hope this turns into a series with a few books because there was quite the interesting set of good, bad and gray characters I would love to see explored.
Immediately the book starts off with action so don't think that just because its a novella its fluffy and anti-climactic. Throughout the journey our leads take to get from the Day Kingdom to the Night Kingdom, the biggest history components are fleshed out. A few questions are left unanswered, but there's another book for that.
Both leads were sweet. Probably too sweet in a world with arrogant, vile and selfish supporting characters. I already felt the full range of emotions from giddy to irrationally angry and this is just the beginning. I can't wait to read the next book.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this novella. While Jamie Schlosser isn’t a new author by any means, this is her first voyage into fantasy. I expected some hiccups along the way, including but not limited to a a lack of of descriptive devices. I was pleasantly surprised to find that she managed not only to create new characters with depth and complexities, but also a descriptive visual landscape that helped to truly show us the world she has created. I was able to dive into this book, and feel the realms fully surround me. While I do recognize that some might not love the quickness of the relationship between Zella and Keryth (our two main characters) I hope they derive (as I did upon completing the story) that their purpose was to set up the universe and prepare us for future books. I cannot wait for the first book! Congratulations to the author on a job well done. Venturing outside your comfort zone was definitely a success!
I know it’s a novella but although I shouldn’t expect a very complicated and deep story, it still emerged as something superficial and cheesy. The motivation of characters is simplistic and guides to OTT reactions. The siblings rivalry? Let’s divide our kingdom in two - problem solved in five seconds. The people of my new husband don’t like me? I’ll show them how to dance, it will make things better. My twin brother has a new mate, he kept secrets from? He’s union is not stable, he should let me rule for some time because it’s my turn. Screw the fact that we have hereditary monarchy system and it’s not how it works. Annoying that.

New author to me. Sweet story. Insta but it works in this fated mates genre, fantasy. Interesting world building. Absolutely gorgeous cover. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. Both Hero and heroine are virgins. I will be trying out the rest of the series. Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series. Small other woman drama. No interest from the Hero in anyone else. HEA.
Prequel to the beginning of the series and a decent-length novella.
It was a recommendation from the Jp forum and I heard plenty about this series to the extent I thought I would join the throngs and read it.
I am a cynic when it comes to fantasy/fae and fated mates because I really want something different from this kind of story and not the usual stereotypical storyline that I have read previously.
It tells the story of fated mates Zella and Keryth - basically night and day. Both of their kingdoms have been enemies due to previous issues and actions taken with Zella's father and mother.
Plenty of action but again I felt I have read this storyline so many times and got nothing different from this one.
I'll try book 1 to see if I get more involved in the story.
I’m a huge fan of this author, but 2021 was rough, and so was my reading slump. With the new book releasing this month, it was finally time to dive into this awesome series. This story was intense and interesting, and I quickly became engrossed in the storyline. There were some things that happened that were completely shocking— both the event itself and the reaction to the news. Overall, I really enjoyed it and am thrilled to dive into the next book!
I have loved, and I mean LOVED Jamie Schlosser’s contemporary books for years and I’m also obsessed with anything Fae, so when I saw the blurb for this prequel there may have been squeals of joy and happy dancing. Ok, there was no may have, it totally happened. I could not wait to get my grabby little hands on this and OH EM GEEEEEEEEEEE when I did get it I was blown away. So freaking blown away. Holy. Crapola. I was ready for awesome. I was not ready for all the epicness that hit me with Between Dawn and Dusk! My god. This prequel is a such a jam packed joy ride of magic, adventure and romance. A literal bomb could have gone off beside me and I wouldn’t have even twitched. This has me going from simply excited for the next book to some new, undiscovered level of joy and anticipation that has no title. I’d think of a name for the discovery of this new human emotion I discovered thanks to Jamie Schlosser except all I really care about at the moment is getting my hands on Kirian’s book. We’ll just have to call it being schlossered.
This was my first Fae book and I was not sure if this was a genre I would like. Let me tell you I am hooked!! This world that Jamie has created is amazing. So many details to make you imagine you are there with them. I was hooked from the start and did not want to put my kindle down!!
Zella and Keryth ❤ I can't say enough about the connection these two fated mates have. When her father tries to keep them apart...Keryth is definitely swoon worthy!!
OMG, Talk about the BEST introduction to a brand new world! Between Dawn and Dusk is the most perfect little read to get us hooked for all the sequels!
What a extreme joy it was to get to witness Zella and Zeryth’s unmovable love and their fight for it. Their love story, truly is worked as the perfect introduction to all this Fae universe. They are definitely #relationshipgoals and I’m totally addicted to this world. The perfect fantasy appetizer to leave us salivating for even more… <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Jamie Schlosser is probably one of my all-time favorite authors. I have read every single release she has put out and when she said she was starting something new, I was excited. And then I found out it was paranormal. I'm going to be honest, I had never read paranormal prior to this. And honestly, if if was anyone other than Jamie, I probably would still not have read the genre. But because I love everything Jamie has ever written, I wanted to give this a chance... and I am SO GLAD I DID!
Between Dawn and Dusk is the prequel to the highly awaited book one of her new series - The Fae King's Curse. And I am here for it. I went in with no idea what I was getting into, and by the end of the first page, I couldn't escape even if I wanted to. I didn't even know that I would love paranormal, but I absolutely loved everything about this book. Jamie brought these characters to life and drew me into the story to the point that I wasn't ready for it to be over... I wasn't ready to have to wait for The Fae King's Curse. I wasn't ready y'all.
Keryth and Zella are amazing. I love them so much and I absolutely love the story that Jamie unfolds for them. Their love is forbidden, but nothing will stop fated mates from being together. I won't give anything away because this is a new release, but I will say that Jamie knocked it out of the park in a way that had me begging for more when it was all said and done.
From the forbidden love to the happily ever after, you will be drawn into a world of fated mates, power struggles, hidden truths, and more. This book will leave you breathless, bringing you to your knees as Zeryth and Zella find their happily ever after. And when you think there's nothing left to find... a curse comes upon the family and you're left on the ground... bleeding out because you weren't ready for it to end yet.
Five stars for this beautifully written paranormal romance that will knock the breath out of your lungs while filling up your heart with the delicacy of romance. I, for one, can't wait for The Fae King's Curse!
‘Her hands are still smouldering with embers. My accidental storm still rages outside.
But nothing matters right now. Except us.
Except the new tether from my soul to hers.’
Jamie Schlosser is one of my favourite and most underappreciated authors. Her writing is always at an incredibly high standard, romantic, engaging and fleshed out with terrifically charming characters, yet she always makes it seem effortless, like it all comes naturally to her, to be able to imagine and execute these seamlessly penned stories. So, I was really very excited when I heard that she was going to turn her hand to writing fantasy romance. Would she be able to apply that same level of imagination and characterisation within that kind of setting? Rather than subtle and fluid romance would she be able to write an exciting adventure, expand on her protagonists to include magic, heightened drama and action? Well, the short answer is a resounding yes.
Between Dawn and Dusk is the prequel for her upcoming fantasy romance The Fae King’s Curse. This short but thoroughly enjoyable story builds upon the anticipation and background of just who the Fae King will be and where the curse stems from. Even though it isn’t entirely long in length, writer Jamie Schlosser still manages to pack a powerful and attention-grabbing punch, making an incredible statement within her limited time frame. Right from the very first page, readers are pulled into the intrigue, romance, magic and rivalry. Power plays, feuds, star-crossed fated mates, battles and far away lands- Jamie has included it all and written it with spectacular attention to detail.
It was certainly captivating and full of twists and revelations with an added element of spice, my only fault in the whole story was the fact that I didn’t get to witness Zella and Keryth start that beautiful slide into fated love, as the story actually begins with them having already met and formed an unbreakable connection. I know that Between Dawn and Dusk is setting us up for the real story, the profound romantic relationship of the Fae King and his journey, but I still really wanted the full immersive experience with Zella and Keryth.
After having read this, I’m absolutely, positively, super excited for the follow up book. I have a feeling that it’s going to be an epic adventure, full of Jamie’s trademark romance, quirky characters and beautiful dialogue.
I wasn't prepared at all for the awesomeness Jamie Schlosser bestowed on me with her prequel to her newest series featuring fae! Between Dawn and Dusk is an EXHILARATING and SEXY PNR that awed and delighted and surprised me.
The fae worlds are colorful and enchanting and the fae with all their different abilities and personalities left me speechless and on the edge of my seat! Keryth and Zella were sensational characters. Both were endearing and unique and I loved their bond! The heat level was set to SCORCHING HOT and their personalities balanced each other out beautifully. They were completely and heart-meltingly sigh worthy! This fae series has me CAPTIVATED and I can't freaking wait for The Fae King's Curse!
Between Dawn And Dusk gets a MIND BLOWING FIVE EXHILARATING STARS!
I've been a Jamie Schlosser fan for awhile now, but the blurb to Between Dawn and Dusk really had me excited! In between reading romances, I indulge in UF and romantic fantasy so this was right up my alley. Well, let me tell you, this fae fantasy did NOT disappoint!! Jamie built a world that draws you in immediately and makes you want to stay awhile to indulge in all the fantasy. The action was nonstop in this novella starter and had all the elements that make me binge a series. So, hurry up and write a bunch in this world, will ya, Jamie? lol In all seriousness, this book came at a time when I really needed distraction and a break from the real world and I got that in spades. Read, fall in love with this world, and get ready for The Fae King's Curse!! Thank you so much for the ARC copy. <3
Amazing start to this new series!! The world building was engaging and I was quickly invested in the two main characters! I am very excited to continue this story with Book 1!!
