October 20, 2024This magazine covered everything from Greek culture, to politics, to architecture, to art. I learned learned so many factoids, like, for example, that the first Olympics only had one event, and that the Romans were the ones to end the event.
From Reading this magazine, you can get a very clear (not dumbed-down, but clear) understanding of the Greek thinkers. I'm talking about well known guys like Aristotle and Socrates but also lesser known philosopher like Anaxiander. At about $15 dollars a copy, and 145 pages an issue, with colorful pictures on each and every page, it is well worth the buy.

I've always enjoyed reading about Greek history and mythology, and I usually enjoy AAH's guide bookazines, but they managed to make this one feel quite boring. It does have lots of wonderful illustrations, and it does cover a wide variety of Ancient Greek subjects, but the text could actually put you to sleep. A real shame.
