✨Freed & Imprisoned✨

USA Today Bestselling Author.
She loves all books, but her favorite genre to read, as well as write, is romance. Bella loves creating heartbreaking stories that will deeply touch her readers, but in the end, a good HEA is usually the turnout.

Whenever Bella is not typing away on her computer with a nice hot cup of coffee, she loves spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite places to go are the movies, the beach, or just on a good plain old road trip. Some of her must haves are coffee, chocolate, pizza, music, & movies.

Short book and it stops at 73%

Dani has always wanted someone to love her and a family. When she meets Brad it's a whirlwind romance. They date and get married fast.

Everything is fine until Dani wants children. Brad changes and starts beating her and even beat his two boys. Finally after many years Dani runs away with the kids.

That is short-lived as Brad finds them, he then let's her know that he stalked her and made her believe all his life because she was easily controlled and he could go do his thing.

description

Heartbreaking, compelling, thoughtful, Bella Emy writes a story that takes you away and makes you feel everything her heroine goes through. A story so well written, it will stay with you long after. A hard subject to approach but Bella Emy does it with subtility and respect.

To me, this book tells us a compressed story. Too compressed for my taste. Domestic violence is a dreadful reality in too many cases, and usually the period where the guys are charming and attentive is not so long like in this book. The abusive guy starts showing violence progressively, mostly starting with verbal and psychological abuse, to turn it into physical violence. Here the guy all of a sudden hits her and then it escalates. Then time goes by and the woman kills the guy. I admit that violence sometimes can be countered with more violence, but killing the abusive is not always the only solution.
All in all, this book is not bad but can be so much more.

I am not sure how I feel about this book. I understand it was a short but for me it felt a little disjointed. You could feel the anguish Danielle felt while trying to flee with her children, the fear and the uncertainty. My heart was sad because you know there are women and children out there who deal with that in reality.

Its a good book but I think it leaves out the most importante part thats supossed to be the abuse .. it focuses to much chapters on the romantic part and all the mental and physical abuse is just talked about in memories.. its a really light book that doesnt reflect the reality of abuse and you cant really connect with Dani because its all like "he hit me" then the book goes 10 Years later and just says "hes been doing this and that through this years" I actual expected a deeper book

for a book about a topic like this, it was too short, i understand it's supposed to be a novella, but while reading you miss so much important stuff, they were so in love for years then all the sudden he hits her, then it escalates, it seems like i missed something, signs, clues, the in between stuff, then the ending is like..okay? what now, the kids are happy seeing stuff like that? she have any consequences? what?

This wasn’t a bad book. It was written well, but I just felt it was too compressed for the story the author was trying to tell. I wanted to read the progression of the abuse more instead of it happening out of nowhere. Also, the ending left me with questions I wanted answers to.

Painful to read which I don’t mind, personally. That narrative was meh. Not well written in my opinion. Just meh.

Bella Emy writes lots of different genres and I love how she is always willing to tackle anything and honestly, I never know what I’m going to expect from her, but it is always a delight. Bella has such a unique way of telling her stories and just from the words she comes up with, it’s clear that she has a love for writing. With this book, she’s decided to tackle a subject that most people go through on a daily basis, but not everyone has the courage to say enough is enough. Domestic abuse is something that isn’t easy to spot unless you’ve either been a victim yourself or you’ve seen someone close to you go through it. Everything can be deceiving unless you truly decide to see through the façade. I honestly think that Bella did such an amazing job and whilst this book is a short read, it does get the points across quite well. I think Danielle is such a strong character and the passion she has for life is incredible, I think that Bella did her character justice and hopefully this does help people who have experienced or are experiencing the same.
I honestly can’t fault Bella’s writing, she always has something different to say and her stories are just captivating. I would highly recommend that you give her work a read.

Danielle has never had the best luck when it comes to dating, and as for her last boyfriend, well finding him with his pants down and huddled between his best friends legs, isn’t exactly the picture she was imagining when she came home to him on his knees….
Now she’s at her best friends (Jane) wedding and she couldn’t be happier for her, the only thing is that she wishes she could have the same ending as her. She’s not naïve enough to just jump on the first guy she meets and sleeps with them, but when a handsome stranger (Brad) offers her to dance, she’s finding herself so lost in his trance that she can’t help but agree.
What starts off as a happy fairy tale ending, soon becomes Danielle’s worst nightmare. She has no idea what she did to upset or anger Brad, but her life isn’t all that it seems, but will she ever realise that enough is enough?

Enough

How much is 'enough?' How much is too much? A push? A shove? Perhaps a slap or punch? Maybe a broken bone? The truth is most likely the answer will vary from individual to individual.
I've so often beard "why doesn't she (or he) just leave. Unfortunately, leaving isn't as easy as it seems. I admire lead be character Dani for her courage. I've never been in an abusive relationship of this magnitude. I was however, shoved several times, neglected, "hidden" and even had a pillow placed over my face. Mostly, he hurt my feelings and sense of self worth.

I recommend this short story for girls (or boys as the case could be) ages 14 and older. It offers insight and red flags to watch for. If you are out there and you are in a similar situation, please know you aren't alone. There is hope and help. There are people who can help you. My wish is for all relationships to be safe, loving, healthy relationships.

This book contains a story that is romantic, suspenseful, heartbreaking and frustrating. Danielle met and married the perfect man for her, Brad. They have two boys together as well. Brad begins to change and not for the better, he starts drinking excessively and becomes abusive. Dani and the boys leave and journey of finding safety and making a new life for themselves begins. This story is full of tough topics that unfortunately are a reality out there in this world. This author writes with passion and sensitivity but you will feel what being that character is like as the story unfolds. Fantastic story, that made my heart race, made me grind my teeth in frustration and of course, broke my heart to have even read about another person in a statistical situation.

This is an emotional short book about a woman living a nightmare at the hands of an abusive husband. It really does highlight the difficulties that women in these situations find themselves with when they have not only themselves to protect and think about but their children also. This is a solid book to read on this subject.

Cheers for Dani

Enough is enough. For such a short read, it is very frightening. How many women is this happening to right now? My God my heart goes out to them. I was very VERY happy with the ending. Thank you, Bella for bringing this subject t to life. It breaks my heart for real women who are too scared to stand up for themselves. Although, it could also be the other way around where the man is abused. Ei TV her way, please take the time to read this.

I am going to give it a one star because I can't put less; Gender violence at the family level is such a complex issue to be treated how it was done, and not only that, there was no coherence between its development. Perhaps approaching the subject from a more respectful place would have made the story better, but in itself, it is not something I would recommend or read again.

This story feels like a personal experience. It's relate-able, heartfelt, and honest. Short and to the point. Not too detailed and yet able to get across how someone in a terrible situation might think and act. I enjoyed it.

This was very short not sexy at all. It made me mad to a point. She knew and still stayed. At what point is it ever safe to stay. I am happy that she did leave when it was actually the right time. Good for her.

The author has raised a tough and very current topic. Unfortunately the story is going too fast and he lacked documentation to see the development of the abuse in detail. The best is the end.
