Blackegg is an author best known for the Chinese-language danmei novel You've Got Mail: The Perils of Pigeon Post. The novel is also known as You've Got Mail: A Cautionary Tale and Fei Ge Jiao You Xu Jin Shen.
“My heart only belongs to you. If you want it, take it. If you don’t, I’ll just smash it. In this life, I will never give it to anyone else.”
I finally wrapped up You've Got Mail: The Perils of Pigeon Post - Fei Ge Jiao You Xu Jin Shen, Vol. 3 after weeks of trying to find the time. Life’s been hectic, but I made myself sit down and finish it. It’s definitely a wild ride—full of drama, emotion, and more spice than I expected going in.
Just a heads-up: this book is loaded with intimate scenes. Honestly, it was a bit much for me. Some of it made me pretty uncomfortable, but I know everyone’s threshold for that kind of content is different. So if you’re planning to read this, be warned—it doesn’t hold back. That said, there is some character depth worth sticking around for. Wu Xingzi starts off feeling like this overly sweet, emotionally distant guy, but by the end, you realize there’s more to him. The author does a good job flipping your perception.
Still, I had mixed feelings overall. There are moments where things are supposed to be serious, but Wu Xingzi is so distracted by, well, pengornis, that it’s hard to know if you’re supposed to laugh or cringe. And without getting into details, there are some scenes that just don’t add up anatomically, which pulled me out of the story. On the bright side, the extra at the end was a nice touch. Seeing Man Yue, Su Yang, and Guan Shanjin's early days was a highlight—especially watching Man Yue work his sly magic. That dynamic was fun to read. So yeah, not a bad volume, but definitely not for everyone.
very strange how in the first book the sex scenes were some of the best (granted the bar is not terribly high) among the mainstream danmei, but by this one they're the worst part of the book. There was a sense of realism before but now ... it's off-putting and repetitive. The melodrama is intriguing enough for me to continue and I want to see their HEA but. Points off for my disappointment
Volume 3 sees Wu Xingzi leave Guan Shanjin so that the latter can be happy with Mr. Lu, and head to the nation’s capital. He’s helped on his journey by Hei-er, who’s acting as Wu Xingzi’s bodyguard on Guan Shanjin’s orders—not that Wu Xingzi knows about it—and Mr. Rancui, the proprietor of the local peng society. He’s eager for Wu Xingzi to forget Guan Shanjin and so he introduces him to Ping Yifan, a successful merchant. The man is almost perfect down to his pengornis and scent that is very much like Guan Shanjin’s. It doesn’t take long for Wu Xingzi to decide that he’s going to spend the rest of his life with Ping Yifan.
But Wu Xingzi can’t entirely escape seeing Guan Shanjin in the capital, often in the company of Mr. Lu. Guan Shanjin is very busy with unravelling the origins of the treasonous plot that he took care of at the Horse Face city. It turns out the perpetrator is no other than Wu Xingzi’s long lost love, Yan Wenxin, now an important minister. And it appears Yan Wenxin knows of Wu Xingzi’s connection with Guan Shanjin, because he seeks Wu Xingzi out, ostensibly to reminisce, but obviously to influence him.
Wu Xingzi, usually very placid and forgiving person, isn’t that easy to persuade though. He’s very loyal to Guan Shanjin and knows him very well. So well, that he’s seen through Guan Shanjin’s ruse: he’s in fact Ping Yifan in disguise. The two clear the air between them. They just can’t be together until the plot against the emperor has been solved. It’s not going well for Guan Shanjin though, and the emperor has him arrested. But Wu Xingzi won’t sit idle and do nothing to help. The book ends before we learn how his plan will work.
This was somewhat different from the earlier two books. The plot is stronger and dominates the narrative, with the romance at the back. It does have some very good moments though, even if it relies on the excellence of some very odd masks. The sex scenes are fewer and less over the top. Guan Shanjin comes out better here as well. He shows in deeds, if not in words, that he cares about Wu Xingzi very much, as himself and as Ping Yifan. And Wu Xingzi shows that he’s not quite so helpless as he appears. We also learn that his father used to be an important person in the capital.
There were some side plots that were hinted at and then discarded, like what is happening with Mr. Lu, what is going on between Rancui and Hei-er, and who is the mysterious person behind the peng society. There’s also a long extra story about Man Yue, Guan Shanjin’s longsuffering vice general, and Su Yang who owns a restaurant in Wu Xingzi’s hometown, which will be interesting to follow as well. Nevertheless, this was maybe the best book so far.
Really like the pacing in this it feels like nothing gets stale. The smut in this is still wild though (in a good way). I'm developing a theory this was originally an omegaverse story based on some things that happen during the sec scenes lol

I love when desperate tops pine for their bottoms so pathetically they don’t know how to exist without them. Hahaha, reading about how Guan vomits blood when he learns that Wu has left while Wu is off enjoying his time away, was incredibly satisfying.
Their separation was necessary, not just for Guan to realize his true feelings, but also because it ultimately helped further his plans. Man Yue did nothing wrong, he simply ensured Wu arrived in the capital early and made sure he was cared for and protected.
We finally get to see Guan receive the kind of love and emotional presence that Mr. Lu never gave him. Someone who worries for him and holds him in their heart with real tenderness. His mother was right: doting on someone to the point of spoiling them can trap them in a gilded cage and make them lose the very qualities that drew you to them in the first place. But I don’t think we have to worry about that with Wu. He has a strong sense of independence and has agency to let Guan spoil him without losing himself.
I love that Wu stood his ground and left. He knew he deserved more than to be treated as a substitute. His father's lesson stayed with him that love shouldn't be split. You either love someone wholeheartedly or not at all. Believing that Guan’s heart still belonged to Mr. Lu, Wu decided he didn’t want Guan's heart.
When they finally had an honest conversation and Wu shared his story, I was relieved it was all laid out. But I don’t condone how he went about it. Yes, communication! But not like this.
I will say I got tired of reading about how skinny Wu is despite his enormous appetite. It was over used in this volume. I wish the author had given him more to do—he could’ve gone back to gardening earlier or found another interest when he wasn’t with Guan.
Still, I’m really excited to read the next volume. I want to see Guan keep his promises and truly settle down with Wu as his life partner.
In which our two horny protagonists are the only ones who can’t figure out they are in love and everyone else think they are stupid but say nothing because it is too much fun seeing them being stupid.
So basically gorgeous ravenous top thinks it is somehow a good idea to pretend he is someone else to see if adorable plain looking (but somehow hot as fucking fuck) bottom will fall in love with him. It works a bit too well mostly because he produces an identical dick pick. BUT THIS TIME IN COLOUR. And as we know our bottom cannot resist a fine dick.
Never ever has there been a more delightful case of a man jealous of himself.
And then ……. SURPRISE SEXY SEX! …. Which takes an entire chapter…. But it was only a dream. Boo.
As our intrepid bottom struggles finding a place to hide his soiled undergarments, some plot involving politics happens. Identities exposed and a love confession happens.
And then…..NOT SURPRISE SEXY SEX!…. Which takes a whole chapter.
Bottom somehow ends up telling the Top’s mother he really likes her son’s dick and somehow she thinks it’s cute.
And then…. MORE UNSURPRISING SEXY SEX!…. Which takes a whole chapter.
And the whole thing end in court politics and some more plot. Which is great but let’s face it, we are here for the sexy sex.
In conclusion. I love these two disaster gays and their respective dicks. It is indeed pornography with a lot of heart…. and a lot more dicks.
The story continues. Wu Xingzi and Guan Shanjin are separated most of this story. There are all sorts of great moments seeing how jealous Guan Shanjin gets.
this might be a bit spoilery:
Wu Xingzi goes back to the Peng society for an afternoon tea and he meets another companion. He can't believe how quickly the friendship grows.
I find it so amusing how this little man in the middle of nowhere has found himself in the capital at the center of everything basically. His old first love is now a huge pillar in the capital and he is about to take over everything.
Guan Shanjin is trying to catch him, but he ends up in prison. We end on the cliff hanger.
Wu Xingzi has really grown, yet he's still able to just put his head down and wait patiently. he's a breath of fresh air to all the schemers in the capital.
There is a declaration of love in this one and it's sweet. There are lots of shenanigans and I love those shenanigans going on. This story is setting up the ending and it came down from the last book. I can't wait to finish it.
I still adore Mr. Wu and have finally warmed up to Guan. In this novel Guan shows more of his sweet side. It becomes clear that he loves Wu and no longer views him as a shadow of Mr. Lu. In fact he seems to love him even more than than Mr. Lu. The scene where he was bleeding and going mad because of Mr. Wu's absence really cemented my realization that he cares for him. It also showed me that this novel apparently has some cultivation novel elements. Not to mention, I've started to even defend him. The way Yan is trying to frame him for colluding with Nan. Which pissed me off. Why would he collude with the people who he went to war against when he was 13. Not to mention the some of the people in the capital turning there backs on Guan. When the reason they get to live so comfortably is because of his sacrifices in the war. Not to mention the end where the Emperor sends him to jail to catch their common enemy pissed me off. That being said Guan still has his flaws. Such as his jealousy and his need to be overprotective. Though the jealousy is a flaw it is still funny in its absurdity. He is jealous of himself, his alter ego, his mother, and even food. Meanwhile his overprotectiveness is sweet but also can be detrimental. Communication is key in a relationship and knowledge is power. Now onto Mr. Wu, as always I adore him. I loved how he inadvertently made Guan suffer for his mistreatment in the previous books. I love his resilience and will to leave. Him leaving someone he views as in love with someone else. I love his friendships with those around him. I feel bad for Hei-er having to go back and forth. Plus is the novel hinting at a side couple in Rancui and Hei-er because I'm all for it. Although Mr. Wu's heart is slow to move on he falls in love with Ping. Though that turns out to be Guan. I think that explains how fast he fell in love. Deep down he could tell by the smell that it was Guan. It's clear Mr. Wu is smart, he just needed a clear conformation with the truth serum. It was nice to see them communicate with no lies. It was also sweet to hear about Wu's mother and father's love. It's sweet that Wu wants that kind of single focus love. I'm glad Guan is willing to give him that kind of love. The scene with Guan's mother was cute and hilarious. His mom asking why he likes her son and calling Guan stupid in matters of love (Which is true). Not to mention her asking Wu to call her Mother. She is so glad Guan upgraded his lover as she should be. Wu answering that he likes his body and face was hilarious. Then Guan getting jealous when Wu said he loved him as Ping too, so it's not just about his face. Wu just can't win against Guan's jealousy. Now regarding the side story about Man Yue and Su Yung. I loved it and hated it at the same time. I love myself a side couple. But the problem I always have is that i don't even know the side couple even exists. So I don't care about them. But then I grow attached to them. Then they never get written about again and it feels so unfulfilling. Not to mention Su young encapsulates one of my least favorite tropes of being a tsundere. Treating the person you love horribly and then being surprised when they don't like being around you. That being said I do still love them as a couple. Mainly because I love Man Yue. He kind of reminds me of Mr Wu. They even describe him the same as a quail like man running away from the man he loves.

4 stars in this one I actually thought the main couples relationship was cute and there were some funny moments. However the spin off with Man Yue disturbed me to read. What could have been semi funny or interesting was disturbing due to the age gap between him and Su Yang. Like having feelings for a 5 year old is wild work. I don’t really care that he is mature for his age it was just grossing me out to read. Some definite points were lost due to this extra.
I enjoyed how the plots are thickening and how they are getting closer to a resolution of feelings. Also the backgrounds of both men are shown here, so that was also pretty enjoyable too.
And we are back after Wu Xingzi left with the Pengornis business owner, (forgot his name; I'm writing this review months after I completed this), Guan Shanjin's henchman, and Osthmanthus and Mint. Wu Xingzi meets a new man... Very nice and very friendly who's sole mission is to try fatten up the cute and too skinny old quail... This stanger is a little too friendly. I get pissed honestly, but I had a bunch, and I was right!! It's GUAN SHANJIN UNDERCOVER! 🤣 Now, everyone maybe wondering, "why is he dressing up as a stranger instead of going up to WXZ and telling him it's him!?" Well, there is actually a whole under layer of plot that is being built in this story, specifically this volume, and we get to see glimpses of it. GSJ is planning to get revenge for WXJ after finding out the man that betrayed WXZ 20 years ago. The plot unfolds, but also GSJ is being cautious because he doesn't want to scare his precious old quail away... WXZ is just having the time of his life enjoying food like no tomorrow... But he does miss GSJ and sees him in this new found stranger.
4.7/5!
