I really enjoy these 5-issue story arcs. Works very well for the Black Widow. Rather than have a fill-in issue every once in a while, or a subpar effort, these arcs let the creators develop storylines set up just for the Widow. I much prefer her to be a spy rather than a superhero fighting Thanos or someone like that. Looking forward to the next arc.

My Thoughts On: The Web of Black Widow #5

1. Anya, you are such a predictable bad guy! Using Natasha as a bad guy to make a new Red Room feel relevant? Still trying to restart the Red Room? Get some new tricks, girl!

2. Cue weird and nonsensical explanation of why Natasha lost her memory! Did I understand it? Nope. But that's okay. It's comic logic.

3. Oh, Anya, honey, did you think it would be that easy? Natasha is the Black Widow for a reason.

4. The Natasha/Tony friendship in this series might be my favorite part. I love when Natasha trusts and confides in Tony.

5. AND BUCKY IS HERE TOO! I love how all they need to say about this is having a scene with Nat and Bucky at a cafe and the line, "You got played, kid."

6. And Yelena! It's a great family reunion! Also, this reminds me that we still haven't gotten to see Black Widow and I want to see Florence Pugh play Yelena so badly.

7. "You know my training. Who I used to be. And I knew you thought I'd play the same little spy game. So I did the one thing I knew you'd never expect. I decided to trust my friends." BEST LINE! FRIENDSHIP FOREVER!

8. You can always count on a Black Widow series for an insanely good two page fight scene.

9. "I was managing it, Cap." "Of course you were. But sometimes an old man likes to feel useful." This is the Natasha/Cap content we deserve!

10. Why not end this series on the line I just quoted? Who knows! I guess this memory corruption stuff is important?

"WEB OF BLACK WIDOW #5, out this Wednesday from Marvel comics, concludes Black Widow’s latest tale. It’s a story of revenge and scheming in all the best ways. It is very much a story befitting the infamous Natasha Romanoff.

Web of Black Widow has been the tale of Natasha Romanoff, and how an enemy of her past was desperately seeking revenge. This was an enemy who knew the Black Widow well and knew exactly who to target to make the heroine look guilty.

This fifth issue concludes this miniseries, and it is a dramatic and compelling story right up to the end. This series is ideal for long-standing fans of Black Widow, but don’t let that statement intimidate any newer fans from giving it a go."

So this was great. But two comments - I would have never made it this far in the series if I hadn't already bought all the issues before starting to read. Also, I bet a significant portion of people will not like this ending but I loved it. It saved the whole series for me. It makes me want to go back to reread the whole thing.

I never got used to the interior art though. I think it is the heavy inks, it is just not a style I enjoy.
