What happens when the girl of your dreams turns out to be the very one to destroy them?
With the sting from not being drafted still fresh, Dalton Boyd gets sent to the strictest coach with the most rules in summer league ball.
Was it mentioned the coach also serves as his host family? No? Well, everyone knows the player staying at the coach’s house has the most brutal regime.
But here’s the thing.
Dalton wouldn’t be in this situation had he not followed his heart and ended up ghosted. As much as he’d like to change the past, he can’t.
So, he sets a goal to stay out of trouble long enough to get through this summer and impress the coach and scouts.
It’s an obtainable goal. Or so Dalton thought until walking into his coach’s home and seeing the reason for rule number one—don’t touch the coach’s daughter—is none other than Cassie Greenburg, his rule follower ghost.
Summer just got a whole lot challenging.
Book four in the Cessna U Wildcat series, Caught Looking, is a forbidden, second chance, stand-alone sports romance. If you like sexy, hot baseball players from the wrong side of the track, click to add Dalton Boyd to your TBR!
Kimberly Readnour lives in the Midwest with her husband and a very snuggly cat.
Having a true passion for romance and HEAs, she took the leap from the young adult genre to romance and never looked back.
Unexpected Love, book two of the Unforeseen Destiny Series, is a #1 Amazon Kindle bestseller in the Medical Romance. Her series, the Bad Boys Redemption, has spent many weeks on Amazon's sports fiction bestseller list.
Kimberly worked as a Registered Nurse for fifteen years before hanging up her stethoscope. When she isn't running her own business, you can find her tucked away writing.
Summer baseball should be a time to hone your skills and have fun - however - Dalton's summer ball is filled with a coach who has an iron fist and the woman who owns his heart but he cannot touch. Cassie and Dalton fell in love during a brief relationship years ago and he has been trying to find her ever since she ran away, but when she just happens to be the daughter of his coach, and did I mention he is also the preacher at the local church, Dalton fears the connection that they had will be lost. But breaking rules and finding his own way in life is Dalton's claim to fame. Will this destroy his heart as well as his future? Or will true love reign? In my opinion there is nothing better than combining baseball and romance but throw in high emotions and a beautifully written love story and it stands out ahead of the rest. Kimberly Readnour once again proves that she can write another masterpiece in the Cessna U series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The book follows Dalton with a little of a broken heart and the dream of being drafted. and then the girl that he fell in love appears in front of him she’s coach’s daughter.
I haven't read the other books in the series and after this I think I'm convinced to read. I thought nothing would be better than sports romance but mixing that with second chance romance? oh yes!!! I loved Cassie and Dalton so much. but everybody knows i love my mmc with a bad attitude almost an idiot yeah so dalton checked all the boxes. The fact that they are so different and complete each other. ohmygod.
I think this just might be my favorite book in this series! Dalton is a kid from the wrong side of the track and Cassie is raised in an ultra conservative household. They couldn’t be more different on the outside but it’s what is on the inside that counts. Dalton is a fantastic H…I absolutely loved him. I got mad at Cassie a few times for not standing up for herself but she finally put her foot down and put everyone in their place. This book will leave you with a happy tear and a smile.
Oh my swooning heart! This story is a perfect addition to the Wildcats series. I was so looking forward to bad boy Dalton and boy did we get him.
If ever two characters could perfectly fit their names it would be Dalton and Cassie! Him with all his white T-shirt, ripped jeans swagger and her with her beautiful heart and petite frame.
I was totally captivated by their whole romance, from the young heartbreak of their prequel to the angst and missed opportunities of their early college life…both characters go through so much and no one was a bigger cheerleader for them than me! Thank you for the wonderful epilogues Ms Readnour….I loved everything about these baseball hotties!
When you live for baseball because it is your one way ticket out of a town full of judgmental people and abusive father you think nothing will ever stand in your way, until you meet the one. Dalton Boyd met his one one summer before college and when things didn’t end the way he wanted he has spent years pining over the one that got away. Now as a last ditch effort to change his attitude and game he is sent to the strictest coach that will help him rehabilitate his career, the catch? This coach isn’t only a coach, but he is an extremely strict preacher that happens to be the father of the one who got away. Dalton has a lot riding on his summer with Coach Greenburg, but how can he ever stay away from his girl? I got so frustrated with the coach, he was so focused on judging others instead of actually helping them, he treated Cassie like she was beneath him, and the way he looked down on dalton made me want to punch a preacher. Yes i said what I said because I know people like this and to me it is far more disgusting to act holier than others while doing what they preach you shouldn’t be doing. Anyways I also got frustrated with Cassie’s docile ways and the way she tolerated those around her to dictate her every move or gaslight her. She slowly started to come out of her shell and a lot had to do with her love for Dalton, but with so much riding on the line could they risk the future for their love? I loved Dalton because even with the past and horrible things he endured he was a hard worker, kind, and yea he had a chip on his shoulder but who could blame him. When he fell he fell hard and there was no way he was letting that go and Cassie knew they had something special she just had to learn to stand up for herself first. The was such a great, emotional read that draws you in and leaves you happy.
Of course Dalton falls for the coaches daughter haha! Although that was a surprise for even Dalton. I’ve been looking forward to his books since we met him in this series. He didn’t disappoint. Who doesn’t love a sexy bad boy with a bad attitude. Even though I don’t think his attitude was that bad.
I wanted to scream at the men in Cassie’s life. I could not imagine growing up the way she did & being taught the things her father believed. So I loved how she grew throughout this book. To be honest her & Dalton were made for one another. I really really enjoyed their story! Plus I loved that ending!
I couldn’t possibly think this series could get any better - but here we are. I have loved reading every book of Cessna U but I think Dalton as a character will stay with me for quite some time. On the surface he appears to be your typical bad boy. And he is that. But he also has a heart of gold that he only shows to the people who matter most to him. The way he was around Cassie was beautiful to read. Cassie for a good part of this book frustrated me. Her upbringing plays the most part in that, but she just doesn’t seem to want to upset anyone. She does redeem herself and I was so happy for her that she did that. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

Pull at your heartstrings that’s what Dalton & Cassie’s story does from the very first page. Dalton is a man that just needs a break, baseball is everything but when the one got away he never expects to ever see her again but sometimes fate has other ideas. Trying to get his life on track he is met with a tough coach to set him straight what he doesn’t expect is the girl he’s been looking for to be there. Cassie has always followed the rules when it came to her life and her family but the thought of the one from years ago shows up at her door she thinks that their is a reason for everything The road ahead for Dalton & Cassie is going to be quite bumpy but sometimes working for what you want and proving to everyone that it’s truly the right thing just might bring them to a HEA they both deserve.
I absolutely love this book! Dalton Boyd is the kid from a “bad” family. After meeting the love of his life in the novella, On Deck, he set out to find the girl he fell for, Cassie. Now, he’s heading into his senior of college at Cessna U and he’s still undrafted by the MLB, and he’s never found Cassie. Now he’s been sent to a summer baseball team for an attitude adjustment. And just like that, his luck changes! Or does it? The preacher/baseball coach whose home he is staying in has lots of rules, but the main one is “don’t even look at my daughter!” Only problem, his daughter is Cassie the girl he’s been unable to forget! A wonderful story of second chances in love and life! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Kimberly Readnour!
Well I have been waiting a LOOOOONG time for this book and man it did not disappoint. Dalton and Cassie prequel was so good and their full story is incredible. Their HEA o is hard taught and their growth both together and separate is really enjoyable to read. And Mrs. Readnour gives us just enough angst and stress to make this story believable.
I really like this read! Dalton and Cassie had great chemistry. Unobtainable, almost forbidden love! This book sizzled, I love watching the relationship shop grow between these two!
"Life hits pause as my brain catches up and confirms the girl is Cassie—my ghost—and Coach’s unattainable, untouchable, and I-will-end-your-career-before-it-starts daughter."
I cannot wait for you to read the exciting conclusion to Dalton and Cassie's story!
Caught Looking is a beautiful and emotional story of second chance love. Dalton had turned his life upside down to try to find Cassie when she ghosted him and then he finds her in the last place he expects. Now they are living together under the eye of Cassie’s stern, pastor father and Dalton’s summer baseball coach. Will they be able to smother the spark that still burns between them?
“He’s the one I want to be with. He’s the only one who never thinks for me. He’s the only one who makes me feel and challenges me to stand up for myself.”
Cassie is a rule follower and afraid to disappoint anyone in her life. She has always lived by her father’s expectations even when they clash with what she wants for her life. She still longs for Dalton, but she believes that she would derail his future. When he reappears, he forces her to start standing up for herself and to begin living her life for herself.
“I want her everything. I want to be her everything.”
Dalton was heartbroken when Cassie disappeared, but that heartbreak has morphed into anger. When he finds himself face to face with her, he’s torn between the love he still feels for her and the need to control his feelings so dreams of playing in the MLB can come true. He slowly begins to realize that he needs to deal with the demons from his past if he wants to make his dream a reality and have a future with the woman he has never stopped loving.
“There has always been something magnetic between us. That’s why I believed so vehemently about fate. When two people have this strong pull toward each other, how can destiny not be real?”
The journey that Cassie and Dalton travel is not easy and filled with so many roadblocks along the way. However, these two together make each other stronger people. They stand up for each other and encourage the other to grow into better versions of themselves. Their story is sweet and heartbreaking and angsty and ultimately, so loving. They were truly meant to be.
I feel a little bittersweet after finishing the story because I hate to say goodbye to the Cessna U baseball guys but I’m so excited to see what’s next.
*I received a free copy of this book for my honest opinion.*
I read Dalton and Cassie’s prequel short story, On Deck, at the beginning of 2020. Meaning, I waited over two years for this book… and it was so worth it.
This book is intense, and it just hit a lot differently that the others. I absolutely loved it! I do want to warn readers that there is a lot of religion in the story, with Cassie being controlled by her father and boyfriend (not Dalton) who think women should serve men. That is NOT the message of the book. But that is how she grew up, and it’s about her realizing this is wrong. It’s a frustrating situation but very realistic.
Cassie’s development in this book is just wonderful. She is naïve but wanting to grow and become independent. There were times I just wanted to yell at her to stand up for herself. She’s also the most relatable female character for me in this series, which likely contributed to these strong feelings. I understood her choices and behavior. I loved seeing her figure out that she needed to fight for herself and what she wanted.
Dalton… I don’t know where to begin with Dalton. He’s the epitome of broody bad boy with a secret heart of gold. And I just adore how he treats Cassie. He’s the first to really tell her she can do whatever she wants, to encourage her to be her own person. We also get to see him finally open up to some teammates, which was great. The entire time, you can’t help but want him to find happiness after such a hard childhood.
Together, they are amazing. The chemistry is undeniable. They truly are their best selves around each other.
I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. I ended up reading it all pretty much in two sittings, which is fast for me right now with how much I have going on. It’s well paced, and the writing flow is great. Everything always feels so natural in Readnour’s books.
I highly recommend this whole series for those who like steamy college/sports romance. The second book, Behind the Count, will always be my favorite, but I think Caught Looking might be next! I can’t wait to see what Readnour does now!
This is the fourth book in the Cessna U Wildcats series, but it can be read as a standalone.
This story follows the tumultuous relationship between Dalton and Cassie. Dalton is your broody bad boy baseball player who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks (so to speak), and Cassie comes from a very traditional and conservative religious household.
Dalton was sent to Coach Greenburg to correct his attitude after issues involving his teammates at Cessna U. But lo and behold his new residence just got a lot more interesting. Coach’s number one rule is to stay away from his daughter, but when Dalton arrives at his new home for the summer, the girl who got away three years ago is standing right before his eyes.
Cassie is submissive to her father’s expectations of how women are supposed to live in the eyes of the Word, she doesn’t stand up for herself and is stuck in a relationship that is leading nowhere. But when Dalton arrives she starts to emerge out of her shell, and voice her opinions on how she wants to live her life, and with whom. Seeing Dalton once again has lit a fire in her and she is determined to stand up for herself and not let others tell her how she is supposed act and behave.
Even though Dalton is to be portrayed as the bad boy he is anything but. Deep down he is an absolute sweetheart and will do whatever he can to win back Cassie’s heart. He even goes so far as to fight others to defend her honor, and gets himself kicked off the baseball team. His fight for is admirable even when the odds are stacked against him.
Dalton and Cassie are amazing together and their chemistry is undeniable. In the end, Dalton and Cassie do get their HEA, and it was a beautiful way to end the series.
After the best summer, Dalton has spent the last three years searching for his "Choir Girl" without any luck until he shows up at his summer league coach's house and sees Cassie sitting in the pool. Dalton is determined to make her his again only he will have to prove he's a good guy to her dad, his coach and the town preacher.
Caught Looking picks up three years after On Deck and is the continuation of Dalton and Cassie's story but also the conclusion of the Cessna U Wildcats series. I did enjoy the banter between Dalton and Cassie and could feel the connection between them still as strong as it was in On Deck.
As much as I enjoyed this book I also struggled with a lot of aspects of the book. The majority of the things I struggled with are all completely personal and that does not mean that they would be a problem for all readers.
Caught Looking contains... sports (baseball), college, second chance, forbidden romance told in the dual first-person point of view.
CW: religious, abuse (alcohol, physical, mental, and emotional), cancer

I thought this in the other books and this story didn't change my mind - Dalton is a gem and people who think he's a true bad boy or messed up can gtfo.
He had Shannon's back in her book and the boy was literally willing to give away everything just to be with Cassie - even his career. And that means a lot when he thought it was his only way away from his father. Sure, he could have been a better team player but I understand why he was afraid to. Honestly, Cassie didn't deserve him. She kept saying she was going to do this or that but when it came down to it, she always wussed out on being firm like with the break up.
However, I'm willing to give her some grace because she'd basically been brainwashed her whole life to be subservient. I'm not a fan of religion and the fact that this wasn't exactly a fictional situation on that front just digs my thoughts even deeper. Since Dalton is my favorite character, it's not surprising that this was also my favorite book in the series though I wish we would have seen more growth from Coach/The Preacher because I don't feel like there was much there on that front. And even though Marty isn't a Cessna student, I hope we get a HEA story for him because he really deserves one.
I really enjoyed this book. I love both second chances romances and anything that has to do with sport, so this book was kind of made for me and it ended up really working for me. I just had such a good time reading this book.
Dylan and Cassie had a brief relationship a couple of years ago and Cassie ended up ghosting Dylan. Dylan is playing in a summer league and his coach ends up being Cassie's dad and he has to stay with them for the summer. Dylan and Cassie try to not be attracted to each other but they cannot do that.
I loved how different Dylan and Cassie were. I love opposites attract and I really enjoyed how it was done in this book. I loved how they were different but also complemented each other lovingly, that just really worked for me.
I really enjoyed this book take me on. Their second chance was so lovely and worth fighting for. I liked how it wasn't always easy but how they were ready to fight to be with each other. These two were just very good together and I really enjoyed them as a couple.
I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest opinion.
I have enjoyed this series so much and this book was no exception!!! This sports romance with a touch of the forbidden definitely had me in my feels more often that not, and the connection between Dalton and Cassie was just so undeniable!
So a few years ago, these two had a brief relationship and fell hard for each other, but the timing and circumstances just weren't right. When Cassie ran, she took Dalton's heart with her, and he has spent the last few years looking for her face in every crowd.. and then he finds her, as his coach's daughter. *cue record scratch*
With so much at risk, will Dalton and Cassie throw caution to the wind and give their love a fighting chance? Or will they always be caught up in what could have been?
I just adored this book, and even though these two are just so different, you just know they are meant to be together. I loved everything about them!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
So Cassie and Dalton were so worth the wait! You meet Dalton in the first 3 books and he is such trouble but omg Dalton may be my favorite of the guys.
He fell hard for Cassie before school and she knew his true self and then she disappeared from his life. He was always looking for the dream girl around campus and online but could never find her. Well fate has a funny way of catching you off guard.
Cassie is his summer league coaches daughter and boy does he have some strict rules for them both!
Cassie is very sheltered by her father and his beliefs. She is over the expectations placed upon her and wants more out of life. Of course her dad doesn’t think the troubled bad boy is good enough for his baby girl.
They make each other better and I loved the ending give me all the HEA!!
😭🥰♥️ I wasn’t a huge fan in the way Christianity and Religion was portrayed in this book, so I hope people realize, while yes, there are some churches just like Kimberly described, but there are also many churches that do it the right way… share God’s Word, share Christ’s love and be Jesus to those in need. I loved that Cassie realized that God didn’t abandon her, but likely brought Dalton back to her. I love Dalton & Cassie’s story. I have to say I was nervous through basically the whole book!!! Afraid that her dad was going to show up…. The relationship that ends up between Dalton & Coach. 😭🥰 And I love that Marty & his fam were there for him as well. I loved this book. Not sure if it’s the conclusion to the series, but if so, we’ll done! This is a series worth reading more than once! ♥️♥️♥️
When Dalton Boyd shows up to Coach Greenburgs house for summer baseball the last thing he expects is to see Cassie Green, the girl he fell in love with who ghosted him more than three years ago.
But Cassie is off limits, not only is she the coach’s daughter, she’s also the town pastors daughter. Yep, Coach Greenburg is a baseball coach and pastor of the local church.
Overcoming prejudices and an over protective preacher dad, Cassie (the good girl) and Dalton (the bad boy) eventually rekindle their relationship. Until another hurdle is thrown at them. Slowly they are able to convince Cassie’s dad they are good for each other and Dalton’s pending baseball draft. And Cassie and Dalton get their HEA
Dalton is the type of hero we all want to read about. He is self-sacrificing, loyal, and loveable. Cassie is much of the same. They have a shared destiny that fate helps along the way. This was a sweet story that had a great flow and kept my interest from beginning to end. This was the first book from this series that I read. You don't have to read them in order, but it might make you want to go back and read the rest of the series! Great story, I love me a sweet HEA.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy from Foreword PR in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this book the most of the whole series. Dalton was always the quiet bad boy in the series and he meets his match in Cassie. I loved Cassie’s story arc from growing up in a very conservative Christian community that prizes obedience before independence especially for young women. Both had some trauma they had to work through. Loved this series and can’t wait for hockey series!
OMG I LOVED THEM! I have been putting off reading Cassie and Dalton’s story because then the series was over. Now I’m mad I waited so long. They were perfect. Dalton is doing everything he can to get out of his broken home when he meets Cassie one summer. Fate finally steps in and reunites these two but the obstacles they face threaten to tear them apart. This was a beautiful story of second chances, following your dreams and your heart, and true love. What a perfect ending!
I read the prequel for Cassie and Dalton’s story, and this book is as a perfect ending for both their story and the rest of the characters in this series.
Usually the change in the main characters is the best part, but watching Cassie’s dad transform was the best part. There was so much growth in all the characters, and it was emotional and satisfying read.
I really enjoyed this weave of second chances, timing and faith. Dalton tugged on my heart the more I got of his story. You can't help but root for him. And I think a lot of people can emphasize with Cassie and her struggles. The book flows well and there are some real tearjerker moments. I truly enjoyed reading this book.
I've been waiting on Dalton since the very beginning and he did not disappoint. His may be broody and a bad boy but damn he loves hard. Cassie was an unexpected surprise but she was perfect for Dalton. This was my favorite in the series.
