I have it all. Fame. Money. Respect. All a man could want from a pair of golden feet on the soccer field. But one moment can make or break you. For me, that moment has arrived.

I have been a fan of CM Lally's since I read the first book she published and it has been so much fun seeing her progress and grow as a writer. I think Legend has jumped up the list to one of my favorites of hers. The characters she has created and the story she has weaved are so wonderful and easy to connect to. I adored getting to know Ian and Neenah and watching them find the strength to overcome their pasts. There are even a few background characters in Legend I hope to see get stories of their own in the future. *hint hint*
I voluntarily received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Fame and good fortune is not the be all and end all of soccer great Ian Legend. Letting go of his past and working through his anger leads him down a path that uses his love of soccer to help children. Meeting his neighbor and single mom, Neenah opens up so much more than finding a friend when her son Dane becomes one of the children in his soccer camp. But can two people who have tons of baggage in their pasts break through the walls they have built? With beautifully written characters and a storyline that gets better with every turn of the page this was a fabulous read.
Ian is a soccer legend, he is the player everyone loves and adores, but a bit of bad publicity following him coming to the rescue of woman being attacked.
Neenah is a single mum of an adorable little boy named Dane, they are both survivors of domestic abuse, but life is not easy!
Neenah and Ian are neighbours, and the attraction between the two is obvious, but she has skeletons in her cupboard and knows she can never have him, it would ruin his career and she can never allow that, also, she has to think of Dane!
What follows is a story of friendship, hardships and a man who won’t give up on her, something she has never had before.
4* Neenah has taken her son Dane & is trying to start her new life after the trauma with her ex. Ian plays football but hes been ordered to do community service. This story really draws you in it shows emotions where needed an touches on sensitivity. I loved the characters Ian for his protective nature & compassion, Neenah for her strength and love for her son Dane. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Ian legend went through so much growing up with a lot of pain and suffering but he was able to channel all the bad into making himself famous and playing soccer.. meets Neenah wells when she moved next to him and the spark between them in strong and undeniable but can a broken man help save a broken woman.. this book was beautifully written and gives hope to women out there who have been through so much to realize they are not alone and to not be afraid to start over
Amazing heartwrenching story, I loved the writing style very much.
Spoiler:
I just wish that everybodys story way concluded - there is no more mentioning of ammending things with Todd and Tia. And once it is said that there was "a gun and three bullets" and then "a fall on the table" - not to give too much away ;)

This book brought me out of a book funk!! The Legend falling for the single mom, with a very hard and twisted past. So much detail and laughs. This book will hit all the feels.
