Shelley Berrettini’s life is ordinary. A solo mother with a grown up daughter, A job in a grocery store, A cat lover, Avid tennis player. She’s pretty sure that this is her lot in life, That this is as good as it gets.
Until the moment that the young high school boy starts work Under her supervision. Suddenly Mrs B is living out her fantasies And realizing that life isn’t so bad. But she knows that this isn’t right. She knows that things can’t work out for her And her younger man… Or can they?
My first job was bagging in a grocery store, wasn't a fan of the frontend manager, but did like the lady supervisor at night, she was younger than Mrs. B., just as friendly as her, never yelled at us and like the older woman/younger man themed stories like Mrs. B's Younger Man.
Found it amusing that Shelley played Tennis, has an arch rival Marlene and discovers that her boy Blake is her arch rivals son.
My absolute favorite trope is older woman/younger man. Shelley is relatable and could be anyone you know or even yourself. She feels stuck. Her job is a joke, love is even more so. Her daughter is out in the world and found herself a man so why can mom?
New hires arrive and Blake stands out. She can't help but be attracted to him, even though she knows she shouldn't. Blake is a skater and catches her when she's at a weak moment where one thing leads to another.
I liked the story and you could see how the attraction would happen, it's not an impossible story. My old complaint is I didn't like the end, it kinda felt rushed. Hence the 4 star rating. I would read another book from this author because the story, characters and development worked. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
This is a story about Shelley Berrettini (Mrs. B), and the younger man in her life - Blake. They work together at Smith's Groceries. She's been there for over 15 years, and has become his supervisor. There's a 20-year age gap between them, and he's really only a high school kid. Surely this can't really go anywhere? Or maybe it can.
This is one of my favourite tropes (or in reverse order). The possibilities are always so delicious to read about ;)
I received a free ARC of this book through StoryOrigin, and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What else can a man want in a woman? Given its length it was a really good book there was conflict and growth. Character development of FMC was superb and MMC was dominant rather than an immature child. Smut was not that good but I'm definitely going to read the whole series.
I really enjoyed this story. I admit I’m a fan for the trope. I liked the thought that went into character development and interpersonal relationships. The story ends with a Happy For Now, rather than a Happily Ever After, but was still good.
My review has nothing to do with the age difference, though It did bother me a little that he is still 18 and she is 39. But what really bothered me was the story lacking well pretty much everything. One cannot blame a bad story saying is bad because is a short story. There are many short stories out there where the author was able to make the story flow greatly. Not in this book. I don’t feel the connection between the characters, everything is so superficial and rushed and the end it’s just WHAT??? I’m just glad I didn’t really paid for it.
