When Jiro, son of Hades, shows up to claim her soul--the soul her mother bartered away--Yesenia has no choice but to accompany him to the underworld. Not one to go down without a fight, Yesenia makes a covenant with the devil himself in an attempt to win her soul back.
However, her bargain has unforeseen consequences. Now Yesenia must fight in the Olympian Trials and win as Hades's champion.
With Demigods for competitors, a reluctant Jiro is her only hope at victory. But when you're Hades' champion, the only thing more deadly than losing the tournament is winning.

I have no words right now. Oh my god what can I say? I've never read such a brilliant story like this. The Olympic Trials was entertaining and nail-biting especially the last one. But start with the beginning. Yesenia's soul was sold by her mother to the devil. Oh man, that is bad. Then a boy called Jiro here to claim her heart but no honey, it will be not that simple. She convinced him to be his and Hades champion. Yes guys HADES the bad guy. Since the begining their journey was unique. Their get to know steps, the fighting lessons and also THE TOP SECRET. (YEAH THAT WAS UNPREDICTABLE) It happened all of sudden. I totally ship with Yesenia & Jiro they're so cutie but Jiro you need to be not so hot-headed. (Hahah PS: Anyway, I still love you) These authors created such an adventureous and engrossing story. All I can say, I HIGLY RECOMMENDED THE TRIALS OF OLYMPUS. YES, totally worth 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 star.
Note: I received a free soft copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The book started a bit slow with its first few chapters, but, it quickened its pace once the two main point of views merged. It was entertaining to read both Yessenia's and Jiro's perspective and have them collide after the end of each chapter. Not only do we get a grip on they're personalities and background stories, it also made understanding how they view each circumstance or situation better.
I personally think that the background most readers have regarding Olympus, will also make it easier to envision the scenarios happening on each chapter. Most of the gods mentioned in the story are also the ones commonly used, there would be little to no difficulty in envisioning them. The bigger plot of the story is even quite predictable as it banked on the never ending Zeus VS Hades feud.
The only reason the book didn't get a full five star from me is because of its predictability- which was most prevalent on the last chapters, and because of some scenarios wherein the characters were too nonchalant about what was happening to them and in bringing items from the underworld to the mortal world. It was also unclear how mortals can call on easily to the gods and bargain with them.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and gripping fast read. I'm already looking forward to the next installment of the series on to know what happens next to Olympus and our main characters. Hopefully, less predictability on the upcoming ones.
I love anything having to do with the Greek gods (Hades in particular to be perfectly honest) so when I saw the description that this was a tournament held by the gods and one of the main characters was the son of Hades, I was sold. Yes, please, to all the above. I found that this was exactly what I wanted it to be, full of strong characters, action, Greek god shenanigans and great world building as well as a steamy romance that is basically doomed from the hesitant start.
I was impressed with how the authors were able to make some pretty dark and serious subject matter into something fast-paced and engaging. The story has topics such as all kinds of abuse (physical, sexual and verbal), disabilities, betrayal, gang issues, death threats, a tournament to the death and selling of souls, yet I never felt overwhelmed by the subjects or depressed. Sure, I was worried for Yesenia and her well being but I was so consumed with the action and hopeful romance that I never had to sit and dwell on the awful. It also helped that Yesenia was a fairly upbeat character, wanting to do her best and try hard, perfectly accepting of the outcome as long as it meant her sister was ok- which I think helped me to stay positive while reading.
I will admit that I never saw the end coming and it basically ripped out my heart and was super shocking. I have no idea what the next book will have in store for me or the characters I completely root for, but I will for sure try to patiently wait to read more. This is a great series to pick up for anyone who likes NA style romance, supernatural issues of the Greek Parthenon variety and twisty plots.
This book is amazing!! I loved Yesenia and Jiro so, so much. Yessi is just trying to take care of her sister until Jiro shows up. She learns her souls been traded to Hades and that she must fight in the trials to win it back. I couldn't put this book down at all and from the very beginning it just has so much action, which I really enjoyed. She has to fight and prove she can win and is just such a strong person who fights for what she believes in with Jiro by her side. After the ending of this story, I am so excited and can't wait for the next book to find out what's going to happen.
Yesenia and Jiro are such an amazing duo that I instantly fell for them! Yesenia is just trying to take care of her sister and save enough money so that they can escape their addict mother. All things were going to plan or close as it could get, until Jiro shows up. Upon the end of her 18th birthday, she learns her soul had been traded to Hades and that she must fight in the trials to win it back. Unknown to her Hades has his own motives and no one expects her to win. Yesenia is pitted against Olympus' top warriors in a battle that might cost her more than her soul.
I couldn't put this book down at all it hooked me from page one and that was it- I checked out from the world and got lost into Yesenia's. She has a fight on her hands and she proves that she is a kick-butt heroine. The characters are all wonderfully described and you do quickly learn who to love and who to hate. The world-building is astounding; you can see where everything is taking place and what is happening scene by scene.
I was so sad to get to the end of this book but it's safe to say that I'll be reading it again and again. I can not wait until book 2! I really recommend this book and encourage all fans of Greek mythology to read this. Even if you are new to the myth scene this is a fantastic way to immerse yourself!!
(there are a few liberties taken-Jiro-but they do not affect or change the main myths)
A fast paced truely orginally look at the gods, goddess and other characters of Olympus. This book is full of twists and turns, laughs, tears and adventure some you'll see coming but most will hit you out of thin air and that ending wow!! I couldn't put this book down! These two make a fabulous writing team I look forward to reading more of their work.
I usually don't read books about greek mythology, but this one seemed as if it would be promising. The cover was interesting, which is what captured my attention first. The synopsis given was also intriguing, and that's the reason I chose to read it. This novel took a different twist than most greek mythology books I have read. The characters were relatable and likable; the character development was wonderful as well! I loved Yesenia and Jiro, both individually and together. The supporting characters were well written as well.
Both authors did an amazing job at world-building, and I could see everything as clearly as if I were actually in the story. The storyline itself was complex, yet easy to follow. Most books I've read that were co-written have several issues - plotholes, contradicting details, etc. However, this book flowed perfectly with no issues that I could tell; at one point I forgot that there were two people writing it. The alternating perspectives were executed almost perfectly. There was no confusion or mistakes.
The book does contain graphic language and a few violent scenes. There's a fade-to-black sex scene as well. It may need to be read with caution, especially if purchased for someone under eighteen.
My only complaint is how little we see of Araceli; she was easily one of my favorite characters, so it would have been nice to have seen her a bit more. Otherwise, I think it was a fantastic book. Once I started it, I couldn't put the book down.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
YES! This is a great book and a powerful start to what is promising to be an amazing series. So glad I found this one. I read everything but fantasy is my favorite and this one really delivers. This book combines the spectacle of The Hunger Games with the all the fun of Riordan Greek mythology—but with tons of action, quick pace, and romance. Seriously has it all. I loved Yesinia and Jiro and seeing their motivations. Jiro is an especially interesting character because all of his goals conflict with each other and we get to see the internal struggle he deals with as he moves through the story. Yesinia is so strong and dedicated to her cause of caring for her sister, but the authors give us a glimpse into the fear beneath her brave front which makes her all the more real.
My favorite thing about this book though is the plot. I love the twists and turns. At least twice I yelled out, “No way!” while reading. I love when a story surprises me. The ending was powerful as well. I don’t want to call it a cliffhanger—we knew up front that either way the trials ended, we are going to be unsatisfied as both options weren’t the perfect ending. But the way this set is up for the next book is even better than I could have hoped for (with one of those “No way!” moments). I can’t wait to devour the second book. I’ve already read different series by Brittni Chenelle (if you love this book, make sure to pick up the Gifted Fae Academy series by Chenelle immediately—and heck, check out the Kingdom Cold series while you’re at it because you won’t be disappointed), and now I’m going to have to read others by Charlee Garden as well to keep myself occupied while I wait for the next one. Write quickly, ladies!!
The characters are palpable with real likes, dislikes, and moral compasses. The conflict and stakes are high and the pacing was fast enough to make it a page turner without moving too quickly. I'm hoping to see more of Jiro and Yessi in hopefully a future installment.
I loved every minute of reading this book. I fell in love with Yessica and Jiro and I am so happy that I found a new favorite book. You find yourself rooting for these characters and you fall in love with their journey. I am so anxious to see where these characters end up. I highly recommend this book!!
All Yesinia wants is to keep her younger sister Araceli safe. Their mother is a alcoholic junkie with abusive boyfriends. On the night of her 19th birthday she is confronted by Jiro, the Prince of the Underworld. He is there to claim her soul that her mother sold to save Araceli as a infant. Now the excitement begins. This book is full of drama and romance. Non stop action and drama. I loved this book and need more! The cliffhanger is a doozy.
Wow, just wow! From start to finish, Yessina and Jiro were such amazing characters! The plot was action packed, well paced, and I was enraptured the whole time, wondering what would happen next! The side characters were amazing as well, and they added in vital information that kept the book going.
An Amazing Adventure! The “Trials of Olympus” is the best story that I’ve read this year! This original heart-wrenching tale takes you from earth to hell, and to Olympus and back again with scenes that are original and vivid. Yesenia, the main character, makes a bargain with Hades in order to protect her blind sister and her quest begins. The action, drama, and intrigue is thrillingly intense and keeps you glued to the pages, unable to put this book down. Yesenia’s journey to win the trials with the help of Jiro, Hades’ son and Thea, a demigoddess is an exciting tale with a smooth romance with Jiro, ends in an emotional cliffhanger that will leave you in tears. Highly Recommended! I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
Holy Mother of Olympus....I love most things Greek mythology and this story has rocked my world! Yesenia is a magnificent character and her development and growth throughout the story is packed with emotions, magic and strength of person! And Jiro, oh my....he definitely was not what I expecting but at the same time he was! It's a incredible story from start to finish!
Holy crap, that was fantastic. I often find myself disappointed by the so-called "strong female heroines" in YA books.... but that was definitely NOT the case here! Finally, a strong female heroine who ISN'T clumsy and awkward and never loses her purpose or strength throughout the book. There's some romance without taking away from the plot and it's just phenomenal. Felt like Hunger Games meets Percy Jackson, so exciting and familiar without being cliche. Read this, you won't be disappointed.
Really enjoyed it up until last bit which had me cursing author and screaming nooooooo.... how dare the author leave it there with no clues as to whether there will be another book and when it will be released... cruel women these authors to leave it on that note. *sobs brokenly*
What must Yess give up in order to pass these tests? But what will she find out about herself that makes it worth it all? I really like this female character and all that she embraces. The storyline is different and entertaining. This is a new author for me and I’ve enjoyed reading her books.
Oooh this is so good. The action starts almost right away! The perfect amount of character development to make you care about Yessi and Jiro, and then straight into the action. Ready for book 2 please!
◻I was given a copy of this book in an exchange for an honest review but all thoughts and opinions are mine ▫ First of all bad book cover Secondly she is ,the protagonist, a little too acceptive in the beginning A guy from hell comes who terrified her and she is like oh yeah let's go , might wanna work on that give it maybe a little time an internal fight maybe Thirdly Hades. Your inspiration about this one much came from a disney show with Hercules. Yeah no I would personally like more info on Gyros childhood Yeah sure there was some parts where its was described like the story with his dragon mother and how it happened ande Persephone Also there is no explanation why the main character was able to communicate with the dragon On the subject of Guros having sex with the protagonist although it may need a little of character development i had the impression that he wouldn't do it with her while she was drunk , that was a little contradictive When there is references to hell and devil , our mind wonders to Christianity although its a story about the Olympians Gods There with the trials was the good part of the book In the end it leave us with an unexpected death without reasoning About the relationship with the mother ... We want more of the past because suddenly at the trials she was raped and before that her soul was exchanged Also hades gave her soul back but it was already a broken one . There was nowhere an indication that her soul can be "glued" back. And when the boy who broke it comes to light she just comes right into him and tells him it is all okey Oh, before the final trial she goes all too accepting again to die without even think it.Yeah i get it the love for the sister but i would like to see more of her thoughts and dont forget that we jump right into it , right into the third trial without having time to process the second one The book can be cut into three parts the first one that goes really quickly without a lot of information and character development The second one with the trials that is better and more enjoyable although we have some plot holes in my opinion always And the third one that it is cut short because it is a series (?) I am not sure , but with some plot holes With a little bit of work it will be a nice one
✍️As it seems it's the first book of the series so there might be questions unanswered in this one but not enough focused indications or mystery ( i don't know how to explain it) that they might be answered.

The Trials of Olympus had everything I love in a book.
An engaging writing style that hooks you from the start Witty, snarky, flirty dialogue A strong heroine who is determined to not let any doubts stop her A story full of adventure and/or intrigue A hero who is rough around the edges, but in the center is all melty goodness The type of ending you love to hate but really you just want the next book post haste.
This book was addicting. I’m so excited for book 2! I can’t wait. Jiro and Yesenia are the perfect dysfunctional couple. I need to know what happens next!! Especially with that cliffhanger ending.
