It started off as another good read. A realtor company wants to buy land that is owned by two farmers. She's managing to keep them at bay from her father but their neighbour has more problems. His sons want the sale to go through desperately and are threatening their father with legal action and a care home. Then there's the newcomer to town that looks really familiar. When he is found dead (hung up as a scarecrow), the neighbour is arrested for murder as he shot at the scarecrow to get rid of the ravaging birds. Then one of his sons is found dead, plans are hidden of what the development of the land will look like and a barn is set alight plus she is attacked. Who, how and why? Truthfully the resolution just didn't add up. If the murderer didn't set the barn on fire, who did? Who also killed the son?
I can't say that it was the best story I've read, but it sure is close!! I couldn't put it down and couldn't close the book until I had read it all! Living in San Antonio, made it even more interesting to me also! Kept looking for places mentioned, can't wait to start reading another!
Another great Texas mystery. Christie is back home to help Pop. But rhetorical developer vultures are still circling the property. I love how the main problem continues and evolves from book to book. The murder is solved, but there’s still a larger problem at play. It’s entertaining and keeps your interest very high. Plus, the covers are cute. On to book 3.
Strange things happening around Curtis. Greedy relatives and realtors are trying to get him to sell his place by any means possible. Unsatisfying ending and typos as well. Wouldn't read it again.
I love pop and Curtis and. Christie. And they sure eat good! But what a stressful life they lead. Not even the chickens are safe. A great cozy mystery series!
