She was the last thing I expected, but just what I needed...

Scott

Stevie Maddox was the last person I would have hired.

Or kissed.

Or slept with.

Somehow, I managed to do all three despite her being all wrong for me.

But she’s funny.

Sweet.

Sexy as hell.

And I can’t stop thinking about her…

I just have to convince her this is more than just an office romance.

Stevie

He was another rich pr*ck doctor, at least that’s what I thought

Keeping Dr. Scott in his box would keep everybody safe.

It would keep things uncomplicated. Simple.

But nothing about the former football player was simple.

He was a gentle giant, a dominating gentleman.

A nice guy.

He wasn’t anything like I thought he would be.

But we’re all wrong for each other, no matter what Scott thinks.

I just have to convince him of it too.

Before one of us gets hurt.

A curvy, sassy and independent woman plus an alpha veterinarian who doesn't have time for romance, add plenty of drama, emotions, steamy chemistry, the meddling town of matchmakers, and you get a fast-paced, sweet and heartfelt must read.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

This is a story from Tulip and another Hometown Hero, Scott who is a Veterinarian in desperate need of an assistant to get him organized. Scott’s grandmother, Eddy hires an assistant, Stevie without his knowledge and the sparks are flying the moment he sees her sitting at his desk! Stevie is not your typical assistant as she has a nose ring and tattoos and Scott wants her gone but she gets Scott to agree to a week to prove he needs her. Tulip has their meddling grannies and once they see how these two are looking at one another do they set their sights on making another love match. This is my favorite hometown hero story and I enjoyed how Stevie never backs down from Scott and they way he tries to challenge Stevie and then Scott learns to see Stevie as a beautiful woman and not her tattoos. Stevie believes her job is going to be short lived so as she slowly falls in love with Tulip she knows she’ll have to walk away a little saddened. When the town shows Stevie that they stand behind her does Scott given in and let’s Stevie keep her job. The back and forth between them is what makes this a beautiful story. I love the Hometown Heroes of Tulip, Texas and "Hero Boss" is definitely my favorite so far. I just couldn't put this book down and didn't want it to end when I got to the last page. The characters are so realistic they jump right off the page and into your heart. The attraction and undeniable chemistry between Stevie Mattis and Dr. Scott Henderson was wonderful and the matchmakers added so much to my reading pleasure. I can't wait to see what happens next in Tulip, Texas. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy.

I really enjoyed Scott and Stevie's story, it had so much going for it and held my interest. It also had me smiling quite a lot, I'm glad I'm not single living in Tulip! The characters were relatable and developed, the connection and chemistry was believable and the story was written in a way that if for some reason you haven't read the previous books, you could dive right into this one with no problem, although if this is your first Hometown Hero story then you really need to go and read the previous ones! I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC. I've debated this with myself, but this is my new favourite of the series....so far 😆

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

We return to our favorite quirky little town of Petal, where love is finding all the heroes, with a little nudge from the meddling oldies. Scott is the local veterinarian and ends up with a new assistant he meddling gran hired for him. The sparks between Scott and Stevie fly, can this unlikely duo overcome the odds to have a wonderful HEA?.

Well written story, wonderful likable characters. A great addition to a fantastic series.

Both cute, tender and hot
Very good romance, well written with good characters who are convinced that they are not made for each other at all. The dialogues and the situations become funny as the two heroes flee each other and attract each other.
Stevie was hired by the grandmother of Scott, the vet, to organize and assist with his work, schedule. But for Scott, the shock is severe in front of this small woman, who has piercings and tattoos, and who does not meet any of the criteria that Scott could look for in a woman. He's used to being chased by women and pushing them away, but she just doesn't care about him, which confuses him as much as it suits him.

These meddling matchmakers are at it again!!! Dr. Scott the town Vet, needs a new assistant and his grandmother hires Stevie without telling him. She is nothing like the women he normally dates so he doesn't see the matchmaking efforts at work. Their story is steamy, fun and you can feel the longing and the heat form the first to the last page. I loved this story and i honestly volunteered to review this arc.

What a great couple to add to the Hometown Hero series. Stevie and Scott are explosive in sexual tension, nice storyline and those match making grannies. Have to say that Stevie could almost hold her own with Eddy, but as you all know Tulips grandma brigade won’t back down to hard headed couples, they know just how to push those buttons. Fantastic addition to this series, would love to actually get a calendar of all these great looking fictional men.

Another funny, hot and humorous tale set in Tulip. This one featuring the local vet, Scott and Stevie who is hired to be his assistant by his grandmother Eddy. Eddy is one of the four meddling matchmakers in Tulip who are intent on finding love for Tulip's eligible men. These men are also Hometown Heros raising money to restore the Tulip statue. Stevie and Scott initially fight their attraction to each other but the meddling ladies have other ideas. Read an ARC for an honest review.

An amazing sweet sexy hot small town romance. This captivating voluntarily read and reviewed ARC had me glued page after page. I love how these two opposites journey through to a HEA with drama, witty banter, laugh out loud times, amusing situations, steamy scenes, romance, love, and working through mis read and miscommunications. A truly enjoyable must read.

Scott♥️Stevie

Eddy features prominently in the matchmaking efforts the women of Tulip have waged on the hometown heroes. This time she’s targeted her grandson.
I love the heart in the two MCs and as usual the craziness that is Tulip.

Another story in the Hometown Heroes series based in the small town of Tulip Texas. Edddie is at it again and this time she has one of her grandsons in her crosshairs. Scot is an ex NFL player and the local vet. He has been fending off women for a long time. Stevie has been lured into turn to take a job as his assistant by Eddie. She is fiercely independent and very short on trust. The story is witty and funny as these two spend time together and inevitably end up in bed. Along with an adopted dog they quickly become a family.

Scott is a vet and when he walks into his office and sees a stranger working on his computer, he knows that his grandmother had something to do with it. Stevie is new in town and needs this job and will now have to convince Scott he needs an assistant. What will happen when sparks begin to fly between them. Fast-paced fun read with plenty of drama and lots of steamy chemistry. I loved the characters; they have lots of depth and the story is entertaining. A good read.

The two main characters are complete opposites and think they won’t be good for each other. After getting to know each other better, they realize that not only can they be a good couple, but they complement each other as well. Piper Sullivan crafts another excellent story in her Hometown Heroes series.

Smoking hot!!!

Well what can I say about this book except wow. Just when I think Piper starts the good parts, it changes paths. I absolutely love Piper’s writing style and I love this book. Stevie and Scotty are a wonderful couple who don’t see the potential in their relationship but are so perfectly suited. As they say opposites attract.

Opposites Attract

I absolutely love the town of Tulip and all its residents. The quirky, the quiet, and the hotties! Scott and Stevie are definitely opposites. There is chemistry and heat but will it all explode? Read this hometown hero story to see just how involved Eddy is this time. I received an advanced copy for my honest and voluntary review.

Scott is part of the small town hero group. He’s a veterinarian trying hard to build his business with no time for romance. Stevie has just moved to Tulip. She is trying to find a forever job and get settled in. But one night of passion has Scott wondering why he can’t get a women that isn’t his type out of his mind.

Retired NFL player, Hometown Heros Charity Calendar model, and the only Veterinarian in the area, Dr. Scott Henderson is used to women fawning over him with thoughts that he is their next cash cow husband. It's for that reason he refuses to hire a new assistant for his office. Women and his career just don't mix.

Stephanie 'Stevie' Mattis from Gary, Indiana. Probationary new hiree as Scott's new assistant, or so she tells him. Apparently Scott's business partner aka Grandma Eddy has taken it upon herself to hire Stevie to clean up the backlog of paperwork, billing, and serve as his field assistant without consulting him first.

What was Grandma thinking? An attractive single female with tattoos and piercings just isn't the image he wants for his practice or personal life. One week. The agreed on probation time Stevie is guaranteed before Scott can fire her.

* * *

A down home enjoyable clean romance story that features an overworked Vet and assertive female. Screams 'opposites attract' to me which it was. I enjoyed the day to day interaction between the two with the added assistance of a few matchmaking Godmother type support characters. What was surprising was the acceptance of Stevie's physical appearance (ink & piercings) in a conservative gun loving Texas community. Acceptance and inclusiveness was a pleasant bonus.

A major debate in my mind was the alpha male romance tag. Personally I felt Stevie was the alpha of the two, especially after her fieldwork assistance. Vague non-spoiler reference: Mr. Carmichael. Scott reminded me more of a Absent Minded Professor persona.

Overall a solid heartwarming romance story though I don't think I was the right target audience for it as my reading tastes gravitate more into the emotionalism and angst that pull a story and cast of characters together. It's for that reason that I haven't given a higher rating. Readers of contemporary romance who enjoy matchmaking and a developing romance between opposites will more likely appreciate the magic of this story more than myself.

The matchmakers of Tulip strike again!!!
Scott is the small towns Hero and the vet and what he doesnt need is the matchmakers meddling in his life. It's fun watching his friends fumble their way through their matches and falling like flies.....but not him, he isnt looking for a woman.
When his grandmother finds him an assistant he knows what the busy body and matchmaker is up too.... but no worries, as Stevie isnt the kind of woman he is interested in....Tattoos, nose piercings, nothing ladylike about the way she looks or talks and lets not even mention that she has him figured out and isnt taking his nonsense... but why does he keep catching himself wondering what it would feel like to kiss her or what she looks like with out her clothes on.....

I loved Stevie and Scott in Piper Sullivan’s Hero Boss: An Alpha Male Office Romance. They’re beautifully real characters who, while they have genuine emotions are also mature enough to actually, you know, deal with them rather than either sit in a funk or make (bad) guesses about what is happening without actually finding out. I’m too much in the bad guesser camp myself, so I greatly envy those in real life (my aunt was one of those lucky ones) or fiction. Drat, I have character envy! Even more as Stevie is definitely ending up with some delicious alpha man candy in Scott. Getting there was totally sweet, and delicious to read. This book is an easy 5 stars and easy to recommend.

The ball dropped

This wasn't my favorite of the Tulip Heroes. Scott and was caring, a rescuer of animals and to show his feelings he stepped out of his comfort zone. Stevie has a story that only the top of the iceberg was touched on. She's sting to pull a gun out, but really insecure when live is on the line. The last 1/4 of the story had all the proofreading glitches and it made the ending choppy. Also, although it ends on a happy note, it was too abrupt so the story wasn't well rounded. A shame because this isn't the overall quality of writing I've come to know from Ms. Sullivan.

I gave up at less than 50%

Two adults, single, clearly both feel some sort of attraction for each other, that isn’t translating well in the writing. They have danced around each other now, wished to kiss, regretted it, kissed, regretted it, almost kissed, regretted it....til I have reached the point of regretting even picking it up in the first place.
The second half may well be a wallopalooza. But the first half effectively killed any interest I may have had in finding out.
For me, this is as far as I go, and gets a hard ‘no’.

I overall like the Hometown hero stories but this one wasn't great for me. I didn't feel like the main characters had much chemistry. Throughout the whole book they kept saying it wouldn't work then they were in love and it's over. Very uneven and choppy plot with no ramp up or climax outside of sex. The heroine had a past never fully explored and the hero seemed flat. There were just too many missing emotional elements and connections for this story to be compelling. I really didn't care about these characters or if they got together, which is probably good because it just ends.

Scott and Stevie start off on the wrong foot when he shows up to work to find her there going through his file's. Unbeknownst to him his grandmother hired Stevie to be his assistant.
He gives her a week's trial but Stevie doesn't know if he will keep her on so she doesn't want to get to comfortable in town.
Scott and Stevie are the proof that people so different from each other can fall in love.
A brilliantly written story with excellent characters and a happy ending guaranteed.

Not my kind of fairytale

My rating isn't based on the writing maybe I shouldn't rate this🤔. I dont see an Alpha I see a prissy countryclub southern boy😑 the woman is twice the man he is and her ovaries like mine are twice the size of his balls j/s. I take my men alpa rough around the hedges possessive protective, caring and adoring to their women. Knowing their woman as soon as they lay eyes on them and claiming them soon after thank you with a side of HEA😙 This is not it

Stevie lands in Tulip, Texas after being hired by Eddy to be Scott’s assistant at his vet clinic. Problem is Eddy never told her grandson she hired Stevie. I love Stevies take no crap and tell it like it is attitude. Her tattoos and piercings are something Scott never thought he would like but against all odds they are drawn to each other. Looks like the meddling old ladies have struck again.

Misleading

Scott does not have tattoos, and he's not very alpha.
This book is okay, but it needs an editor. There's no real climax.
FYI, kids at the NFL combine are trying out for the NFL. They are showing what they can do. They have not been drafted or signed at that point. Consequently, they're not in the NFL. If he left the combine, he walked away from the opportunity to become an NFL player. He was never in the NFL.
