Love....to the bitter end. That's what I have felt for this series. I have had my literary world rocked in the past few months with the rapid succession of the last few books in this amazing series. I can only hope that Breene will decide to do a spin-off series, as I will sorely miss all of my friends from the Darkness. With the first book or 2 I wasn't quite sure how I felt about the amazing warrior that is Jonas. As it went I found myself warming up to him...and dare I say with this last book, even liking him more than Charles. I have always loved the bad and misunderstood male characters in my books. So when I read this book and the story that made Jonas the warrior he is, giving us a peek into what makes him tick...I loved even harder. Jonas, secretly being a family man and wanting his slice of heaven? Who would have thought? I really liked Emmy as well. Breene continues on with her incredible talent in writing witty dialogue and explosive action. As always her progression through time is impeccable. Because the story progresses so well it gives you that satisfaction that some shorter books/novellas lack. Thanks KF for this incredible look into one of the most diabolical characters in this series.

Look at that cover! This was supposed to be the book about Jonas, the wild card, the feral animal that attacked Sasha and the one with the snappy snarling attitude and fierce loyalty despite...

Oh GAWD!!! WHY OH WHY DID THIS AUTHOR RUIN THIS SERIES BY SUCKING WITH THIS BOOK?

I had butterflies starting this book because I read 6 books to get to Jonas. Like I mentioned he was the wild card, the animal... think Xzadist from Lover Awakened build up!

And then...



Thats what this book was... it fell horribly short of all expectations!

Why was Jonas the way he was? He was bullied as a kid.

Now don't get me wrong, I do not bespoke the act of bullying by playing down the negative effects of it. Hell, my kid was bullied in daycare not too long ago and I was an angry Mama Bear about it.

But in the context of this book and especially the readers expectation of Jonas's "issues" and what caused them, I would have thought that he may have been a blood slave or something ( hehe, see what I did there?! No? Pick up a Black Dagger Brotherhood book for God sake!)

And then he "shares" his experience with this slave who is a dominatrix in her spare time to feel empowered! *insert eye-roll*

Now, I will say this though, the sex was hot and delicious as with all these books because as previously mentioned, these people FUCK ALOT!



And then the whole big fight scene in the end and the merging of black and white powers was really awesome, and that just about saved the book from an epic 1 star fail... but I'm sooo disappointed here still.

To all my friends to whom I recommended this book, STOP at book 6.....

We finally get to learn Jonas’ backstory. I totally love this guy… Well, maybe not at first. I mean he totally tried to kill Sasha and then left her to fend for herself against the scary monsters.

We also get to meet a very powerful mage. Even Cato has trouble keeping up with the guy.

The Council also learns an important lesson - variety leads to success.

The war kept my attention (h) Emmy was boring & being in (H) Jonas' head got tediously repetitive. This book felt like filler.
This series has so much potential I wish it was an UF. The world is incredibly unique & the plots could've had so much more depth if we didn't waste so much time with the couple/"romance". Honestly the sex scenes & chemistry don't feel genuine. (IMO). I grieve for what could have been.. lol

If you're looking for erotica with plot (diff characters overall series arc) I recommend Beyond Shame as the series progresses the overall arc really starts involving you mentally.

Short, single day read, just like the other books in this series.

Although this story is primarily focused on Jonas, the reader still gets to enjoy "the whole ensemble cast" from all of the previous books.

Good story. I got the feeling that this book might be the conclusion to the series. Excellent wrapping up if that's the case as the epilogue takes place 3 years after the big battle.

Balanced

Jonas has always been scary but after being around kids I knew he had a soft side. It was nice to see his background. He is definitely needing some love and he finds a perfect balance in Emmy. Her life was even worse than his but although she is just as broken, she isn't giving up. I love the darkness shown in this story that works with the light. The ideas of yin and yang are prominent. However there are still some funny moments to lighten things up.

‘Jonas’ is book seven in K.F Breene’s Darkness series. This story continues on from ‘Shadow Watcher’. Highly Recommend previous books are read prior to this.

Jonas has been taken by this mysterious enemy, with no clues or answers as to who they are, where they are or what they want. Sasha is on a war path, no one takes one of her loved ones, he may be an moody, irritable ahole but he is family. God help who has him as Sasha and Stefan with The Clan, The Pack, Witches and associates are coming for their friend. Jonas has his own “demons” to fight, having no one to really understand his need to be dominated in the bedroom to help with these “demons”. So when he is kidnapped his torturer may be his salvation.

Ok firstly seeing another side to the tough unshakable Jonas was a shock. The only time we have been able to see glimpses of the softer side to him was when he was around Aurora, when Sasha almost died to save everyone and then with Savion and Sabrina, but never around a female. Who would have thought that being kidnapped would turn out to be the best thing to happen to him. Although things move super fast for him and his lady interest (not going to mention name, it’ll be a big spoiler) it was meant to be and you don’t want to mess around with fate.

This series would have to be my favourite so far this year, it’s fast paced, full of action, angst, thrills, mystery, romance and even comedy. The soft banter between the inner circle balances the hard moments beautifully.

FAN-Freaking-Tastic!!! I can't believe this series is over. This book holds less of Breene's traditional wit but holds so much more in the action and suspense arena. With less from Sasha's perspective and more from Jonas and another new character, we find out who has been stalking Sasha and the Mansion.

This book picks up right where Shadow Watcher left off, and draws us right into the hunt for Jonas' kidnappers and the experience Jonas is going through as he waits and hopes for assistance from his clan. We learn so much about Jonas' past and how it has made him the male he is today, but also about his true desires for the future). The bonds of family are strong is this book (family by blood and family that has nothing to do with blood) and the action is intense. I couldn't put it down even though I knew it was the end of the series and I didn't want it to end.

I cried, I laughed, I was anxious and stressed. I cried again at the end and the beautiful way Breene concluded this amazing series. I'll miss this crazy, loveable cast. Where do I go from here?

I don't know what to say here...
this is quite a problem when you start reading the series with several books where you follow the development of two characters stretched out in 1,2,3,4 and even more books...and you really get to see them grow and interact and you can follow the authors idea through and everything fits right - you just have your senses hightened for the finesses...you know those little things you would not pay attention to otherwise...

and then one secondary characters gets the starlight and the center of the stage and then it seems like he can't hold the scene on his own...

everything is stuffed and hurried and I really could not get the feeling of it all...
I couldn't care less...and once primary cast turned secondary saved the day for me.

I hate insta-love books. A lot. This book has all the worst traits of indie fiction: insta-love, one dimensional characters, trouble with grammar, little to no plot, must I go on?
It just seemed like a self indulgent writing exercise pawned off as a book. What a disappointment.

Jonas is the 7th book in K.F. Breene’s Darkness series. I gave it 3 stars. I’d even go 3.5 stars if Goodreads allowed it. It could have easily been 4 stars (I rarely give any book 5 stars) as so much of the book is perfect as the climatic ending to a great fantasy series. We have the huge final battle between the forces of good and evil where past cruelties are avenged, wrongs are righted and the guilty brought to heel. We have a steamy, sexy romance between Jonas and Emmy. We have an epilogue that gives us H.E.A.s for multiple characters in the story. Sasha the heart of this series, although no longer the M.C. in this story shares almost equal page time with Jonas and Emmy. So why only 3 stars you ask?
Well, first of all I’m not of fan of BDSM. Never got how inflicting or receiving pain was a sexual turn on and for much of the first half of this book we spend our time in Jonas’s head while Emmy tortures him, as the author tries to explain why he enjoys being (needs to be) tortured as foreplay. And I still don’t think I get it. And as much as I came to love the Emmy character and feel her pain and understand her motivations, watching her do those things to Jonas and knowing she’d done the same to many before him made it hard for me to fully embrace her character knowing she’d inflicted such cruelty upon others even if it was for her own survival. Those are the biggest reasons for the 3 star rating.
The other reason I slightly downgraded this book was the epilogue. It would have been almost perfect if this book were actually the end of the series. Almost, because I don’t think there can be a perfect epilogue when it means you’re saying goodbye to characters you’ve become emotionally invested in over multiple books. But its not the closing epilogue to the series which made it feel out of place. The author more than hints at the possible future relationship between Charles and Ann who are the focus of the next book in the series. And with the benefit of being in the future we know there’s even one more with Jameson as the M.C. before the series closes. What about the poor alpha shifter Tim. We know he had feelings for Sasha that he couldn’t act upon because she was Stefan’s. Now he’s with Ann but we know that won’t work out either. Does Breene ever give Tim a mate and a H.E.A.? Much as I loved a little look into the future seeing all the happy couples/families it just felt a bit weird knowing it wasn’t the end of the series. So while this book seemed to have a much clearer plot line and obvious direction than the last book Shadow Watcher, spending half the book trying to understand Jonas’s kink and that epilogue that didn’t really spell the end of the series caused me to lower my rating just a bit.

Oh My Goodness, Jonas is in Luurve. Who would have ever guessed that under that killer exterior lies a heart that has been broken, a young boy with a tragic past and the yearning to find love and raise a family?
We knew he has been feeling broody since Stefan and Sasha had the twins and can't wait to get over there to cuddle and see them, but this is a bolt from the blue.
At the end of book 6, Jonas had been kidnapped, and was taken by the European Clan for torture to try to get the information they need from him. Boy did the choose the wrong warrior to torture, this is Jonas's kind of gig. Torture and pain are his sexual kinks, he can't get enough.
He is manacled to the wall of a dungeon, and he hears the click of high heels coming at him, he is already feeling aroused but when the gorgeous Emmy steps in front of him, wearing a right leather corset and carrying a whip, he thinks all his birthday's have come at once. She starts by asking his name, he refuses to answer so she starts to flay him with the whip, her favourite instrument of torture, and continues to ask his name, he is loving the pain and becoming more and more aroused, when Emmy notices this, she is shocked and decides to leave him and come back later.
However her "owner" Nathaniel is not pleased and threatens to reduce her to just a blood bag for the lower creatures to feed from and abuse. He wants information and he wants it now.
Jonas eventually realises that he has feeling for this girl, and he tells her his name and some of his tragic past and she is turn opens up to him and her past has been just as traumatic.
She promises to help him escape and manages to get hold of a phone and called Stefan and Sasha who are not actually that far away as one of their mages has managed to track where he is being held.
There rages a huge battle, with many sad losses on both side, Sasha discovers Nathaniel is even stronger and more experienced that she is even with the help of all the magic users pumping magic and energy into her, even Cato and Toa she is flagging and his spells are really nasty ones that are taking out many warriors and Mata's. They will no however give up of Jonas, they have gone to get him out and get him out they will.
Great battle descriptions and the usual amazing writing from Breene. I loved this book.

Onto book eight now, may discover Charles is not as much of a fool as he seems.

So ... here's the thing. BDSM is not for me.
And I knew Jonas was really into it.
So fine. You do you, boo.

But even as a "this isn't my thing but it's done well here and I can appreciate that" was missing in this case. Jonas LITERALLY gets off on actual torture - as in he's taken prisoner and one of his captors [well a slave of one but ...] someone trying to extract information from him is literally trying to torture him and he's into it.
I mean ... I ... am glad (?) for him that he liked the pain/it wasn't the horrible experience for him that it would be for someone else.
But I REALLY hated the "I was abused in my past so I need BDSM to cleanse me" or whatever aspect. [The abandonment and the bullying ... like honey you don't need self harm/self harm by proxy, you need therapy.] And THEN if you're still into it, yay you. Go on and be your bad[ass] self.
It just didn't read like that to me here.

And then also - the heroine didn't seem to be an [actul] Domme/into it. Like yes she's GOOD at torture/whipping etc but it's more a skill set she's had to learn considering her circumstances, not that it gives her sexual pleasure. And it never had, and doesn't even when she first encounters Jonas so ... once they get back to the mansion ... I wasn't convinced/into it at all.

So basically I'm trying to say I like all non-sexual parts between Jonas and ... Ellie? Oops Emmy. See?
She's totally boring. And sure I get the "we need a nice wholesome girl to balance out Jonas and oh look surprise she's awesome with a whip but she's half [whatever supernatural creature] half human] and TBH WHY did Nathaniel the evil guy really REALLY keep her?
No real reason other than "well others can't know I'm impotent" which ... yo.

There were plot holes.

Anyway, the "epic battle" and v sad that one super old mage? Cato? died - that seems like ... I mean, why? Also ugh.]

But I'm happy Jonas is happy.
So there is that.

This picks up where the last book left off. Jonas has been snatched by the European group and is now imprisoned at their invisible secret location. A female named Emmy is decked out like a hooker and assigned to torture him with various implements. They don’t realize that pain is his jam so her punishments have virtually no effect. Jonas senses her fear and sadness and starts up a conversation. He assures her that if she helps him escape that Stefan and his people will insure that she’s never mistreated again.

Meanwhile, Sasha and her peeps have been trying to locate where Jonas is being held. Emmy takes her life in her hands and steals a cell phone to contact Sasha. A huge battle eventually ensues and Sasha’s abilities are tested to the max.

Emmy the dominatrix is the girl of Jonas’ dreams and they become mates.

It seems that Jonas was kept kneeling on a cold surface the whole time he was in captivity. There is no mention of him being fed, given water or allowed mobility for bodily functions. It’s not really credible that he’d be able to run around and take part in the battle once he’s released, yet he does.

I’m curious as to what happened to Darla. She was left in one of Sasha’s magical cages on the battlefield.

How do Stefan’s people (or others of their ilk) manage to purchase vehicles or other necessities prior to allowing humans into their world? They are supposedly invisible and Sasha seemed to be the first human they were aware of that could see them. Wouldn’t a vehicle driven by them seem to be without someone at the wheel? I can understand owning/living in homes in the suburbs as their mates are at least half human and visible. What about their halfbreed offspring?

This review is for the WHOLE SERIES

This entire series is great! Stephan and Sasha have amazing chemistry. Charles and Jonas have a special spot in my soul. Don't even get me going on all the other side characters.

This series has a dark romance aspect to a point. However what paranormal/supernatural series doesn't.

The main part of the series follows Stephan and Sasha's meeting and initial 'relationship' (you'll understand the quotes when you read it) in the first book, and as the books progress it gets deeper... There are battles, dark forces, magic learned, life or death situations. Plenty of action, adventure, heartache and of course... SPICE. I won't rate spice because everyone sees it differently. There's stalking behavior, kidnap-ish behavior, and definitely touch her and die feels as well. By the end of Sasha and Stephan's books in the series I was BEGGGGGGGGGGINNNG for Charles and Jonas, let me say, NONE of these books disappointed me. The only issue I think I had was with time jumping. That being said, it makes sense now with how many books there ended up being.

If it says ANYTHING to anyone, I read these in 2014 and am just doing the review 10 years later and can still remember them... Every.. last... one of them. They were so captivating, I devoured 1 a day until I finished them all.

Now that the council is struggling to route out the bad from the good,they are looking at Sasha and Stefan to move up in the ranks and take over leadership.Stefan is happy with his people and is not very interested in the politics.Jonah has been taken by another group to try and get information of of him but what they never could have guessed is,Jonah is a master in these games and he is enjoying his pretty little jailer,while he is schooling her in her own games,Sasha, & Stefan have to call on the council with its most powerful mages,along with the shifters to wage war to get him back.
The battle is epic,you feel as if you are mentally there with each character as they battle the most ferocious battle they've had to fight so far.this book was action packed and at the same time you get closer to the characters with every feeling being laid bare, Their internal struggles,determination,love,fear,weariness,losses and successes.,you feel it all with them.I read this book so quickly I was surprised.

Smooth as silk Jonas …

Jonas, the rough and tough guardian of the Watch, has finally found his match and has a new Love but with a twist. That is she is the enemy’s tormentor who will make the best of men willing to talk after she tortured them into submission but Jonas has a secret, but when Emmy the Torture finds out his secret will she use it against him or will she use it to help him escape from the prison he finds himself locked up in. That’s the question?
What happens when Sasha and Stefan finds out that Jonas has been caught by the enemy? How will they locate their hidden hideout? Will they get there before they torture Jonas to death?
This you will have to read in this exciting ebook by K. F. Breen it’s a great short read that will surely be worth your time and effort in this saga of the series that will bring the storyline of this great world together with joy and excitement.

Big Bad Boy Jonas ...sigh

Oh how I devoured this novel, I love how we get to finally see into Bad boy Jonas head and heart in this novel. What made him such a a-hole most of the time. Seeing his character grow from a character I despised in the first book of this series into the warrior I now cherish. Shew what a ride this novel was. I cried a little. I'm happy he found Emmy, she is perfect for him. The battles rocked. The humor was great. The story line and writing flowed wonderfully and kept me glued to its pages until I finished it at 3 am. Thank you K.F. Breene for another rollercoaster ride of emotion. I love this series and can't wait to start on Charles's book.

Good continuation of the prior storyline with insight to Jonas. I like how Emily's character ended up. She was strong for Jonas. I was glad though his connection to Sasha didn't suffer. Sorry to see loss of some key people. Epilogue morphed us 3 yrs and I wasn't sure about that timing. More surprises from Sasha and Stefan. Paulie still impresses but unclear why Charles stays juvenile. I was glad to see their physical contacts with Sasha are secure. She needs her core group. On the fence with reveal for Tim and Ann. I can only see hurt down the line, especially since we moved 3 yrs into the future. I'm going to hold out on reading Charles, only because of the excerpt at end of Jonas. I need some time away from the characters.

Tortured Love

We finally see Jonas’s story. It’s a painful journey of sorts both literally & figuratively. The other characters from the previous series are still kicking it. Stefan & Sasha are now the proud parents of twins, a boy & a girl. Her magical knowledge of spells has increased exponentially. Their house goes to war with the European council. Jonas is a fighter/security/mage that is taken hostage a few days prior to the smack down & meets his jailer/torturer, Emmy. They both have had traumatic experiences in their lives. They make a great couple eventually & Jonas helps her to accept who she is. I highly recommend this series. I hate it when books end, don’t you?

Jonas has been captured and is now facing Emmy's whip as she tries to get him to answer her questions. This would be a dire situation to anyone else. However, Jonas enjoys the feel of the whip on his body as he works through memories of his childhood. I found this to be a very revealing story. Jonas is such a private character and this book answered so many questions about why he is so withdrawn and reclusive. The remainder of the story was filled with intense struggles as an epic battle got underway. I can always expect a fast paced and exciting story from this "Darkness" series and this one did not disappoint. Very Interesting Story With Lots Of Action!!!!!
