Welcome to de Wolfe Pack Generations… grandsons of the great William de Wolfe. Meet Markus de Wolfe, Patrick “Atty” de Wolfe’s son… and he is every inch his father’s boy.

The grandsons of William de Wolfe all bear the Mark of de Wolfe - a tattoo of the de Wolfe crest somewhere upon their body. It's a badge of honor, of courage, and most of all - of family. The Pack sticks together.

Markus de Wolfe has the blood of the Normans and the Vikings flowing through him. Big, muscular, handsome, and proud, he is a fine tribute to his father and grandfather.

As an elite knight for the de Wolfe domain, Markus is called upon to help defend an allied castle. The Scots have overrun the place, killing the lord, and the de Wolfe army moves in to protect it. Markus takes command, appointing himself the personal protect of the lady of the castle and her two small children.

The problem begins.

Lady Evantha Hemada de Sauque has known the de Wolfe family for most of her adult life, ever since she married her much-older husband. She has known Markus, too, but not well. Not until he takes command of Trastamara Castle.

Then, a fiery passion is born of a passionate young knight and a repressed older woman, one that threatens to tear apart the House of de Wolfe. Will Atty be at odds with his beloved firstborn?

The House of de Wolfe has a history of marrying forbidden women… and Markus is no exception, but this time, will it cost the House of de Wolfe everything?

WolfeHeart is the beginning of the new generation of de Wolfe cubs!

***Slight spoiler***

Year 1300, at English and Scottish border.

Too much male strategizing and posturing and
men fighting men, and not enough romancing
by the main couple. Markus (heir to an earl) was
10 yrs the junior of recent widow Lady Amabella,
who he thought an ageless beauty. This had some
sexy scenes but IMO needed more actual romance.

She was 40, with 4 kids, aged 5 to 17. Her late
spouse ignored her & kept her 'out of the loop.'
Markus a tall, solidly built, elite warrior, listened
to Lady Ama & treated her kindly. Would he accept
the King's Lord Protector job (a huge honor) or
stay with his beloved?

This is nice entertaining romance. This is a new author for me, I think. I was looking down a list of her books to confirm but there’s just so many. I quit half way through but I don’t remember reading anything by her before.

Before I start my review I have to say the blurb is misleading. The name is wrong for a start there isn’t a Evantha in the book. And the rest of it doesn’t give a true picture of the book, I don’t think.

Anyway...

So Markus de Wolfe is a big handsome fearless warrior. He’s just been offered the position of Lord Protector to the King. He’s sought after by women. However he shows little inclination towards them. He also has a huge heart.

Lady Amabella Hemada Abril de Sauque. Has been married to a pig of a man for twenty years. She has four children she dotes on. But her husband treated her like a servant. She certainly isn’t mourning his death. But she can’t enjoy the freedom his death brings. Her husbands Knight Sir Shand Bexwell has taken control of his army. And hasn’t notified anyone of his death yet.

This was for me anyway a 3* read but I’ve bumped that up to 4* since the children were an absolute delight. Particularly King Alfie and his horse guard. He’s more than worth the extra star.

I’m moving straight onto the next one now

Another generation of de Wolfe's has started with "WolfeHeart." The grandsons of England's greatest knight of his generation (and my personal favorite character of any book), Sir William de Wolfe, the "de Wolfe cubs" begins with Markus de Wolfe's story. He is Patrick's ("Nighthawk") son. Markus de Wolfe has been personally asked by the King to be his "Great Protector" which is a highly coveted honor and a prestigious position. His father had once been offered the position, but he turned it down for love, which was a shocking development. Markus will be meeting up with the King to take up his position but, before it is time to leave, he travels with his father to a de Wolfe property to investigate a suspicious death of one of Patrick's vassals after he receives a plea for help from the widow. And there Markus de Wolfe meets Lady Amabella Hemada Abril de Sauque ("Ama"). And, here we go!

One of the many things I love about Kathryn Le Veque's stories is that she frequently "steps outside the traditional box." She is not afraid to write stories about an older hero knight with a younger heroine. There is never anything about a "robbing the cradle" or that the heroine might be a "gold digger" or the man having a "midlife crisis" situation. On the contrary, those stories have the older hero being shocked at the younger woman's attraction and doing everything to discourage it and talk sense into them. But, Ms. Le Veque always writing strong, feisty female heroines and they always, happily, get their man. In "Wolfeheart" the tables are somewhat turned. Markus de Wolfe is thirty years old, in his prime, at the peak of his considerable power and on his way to a coveted position that all men in that era covet. But, when he meets Alma de Sauque, a forty year old widow with four children, who has been sorely neglected and mistreated by her cruel, power crazed dead husband, that's it for him! What unfolds is a beautiful love story, in perilous times, under dangerous conditions, with threats coming from every direction. Will Markus follow in his father's footsteps and throw away what every knight would consider an unattainable goal, provoke the King of England and possibly endanger the powerful de Wolfe name for love?

It is a terrific story with light moments provided by Alma's innocent, mischievous children. I loved it.

💋💋

What’s my perfect day?
That would be the one I just had reading this new book of Kathryn’s, heavenly.

Markus DeWolfe is destined to be the premiere knight in all of England,King Edwards Lord Protector.
But what if something or someone else has changed his mind.
What if he feels his destiny lies elsewhere.
What if that destiny is now a woman, one he just can’t leave, one he wants to spend forever with.

Amabelle is a widow with 4 children, she needs a man like she needs a hole in the head, that’s until Markus rides into her life.
He spends more time with her kids than an their father ever did.
He’s thoughtful, affectionate, protective, passionate and his honour is beyond reproach.
But he’s younger than her and no man wants an older woman , does he?

This is a wonderful and inspiring story, one of growth of a relationship, patience and fulfilment of two people who are desperately in need of each other and a life together.

I loved everything about it.
It ticked every box , and I sat for 5 hours straight reading it beginning to end.
Now I have ages to wait for the next book , but it was so worth it.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

The first book about the legend's grandchildren
The first book love story between older woman and young man

I can't stop crying when they talked about the legend wolfe. He was greatly missed.

I don't want it to end. I actually took time to devour and I'm glad I did. You will never put that book down until you finish reading every last word!

Wow. This story started off with a gasp, yes, being pulled back into the brutality of 1300 Scotland where power and spoils were often the only care of some men. Kathryn LeVeque always manages to pull me right into that timeline and hold me spellbound through her stories.
Marcus de Wolfe, the eldest of the grandchildren, of the exalted William de Wolfe, comes to the front as the hero of this story. Strong, brave, a giant of a man, who had been chosen as Lord Protector to the King, Edward.
But he and his father and their forces were called to one of their allies, Roget de Sauque of Trastamara Castle, finding out he had been killed and his captain of the guard, Sir Bexwell had taken over the castle. Lady Amabella de Sauque had sent word, worried what would happen to her and her children, with her eldest seventeen year old son Atlas now being the heir.
As they arrived at the castle and Marcus met Lady Amabella, he was enthralled by her beauty. Although older than him she seemed to have a timeless aura. She was desperate for their help against Bexwell.
This intriguing story was filled with secrets, murder, hidden enemies, brave knights, delightful children who stole the heart and a journey to a true love that was unexpected. If you have read any of this amazing authors stories or even if you have not, you will thoroughly enjoy being pulled back into the world of the de Wolfe Pack. Perfect.

I tried to read this slow but before I knew it I was at 72% mark and forgot I wanted to savor it and take my time. How this author can write one amazing book after another makes her not human - lol.

I must admit, I had reservations when I ordered this. I'm not a fan of older women and younger men. I thought it would put a road block for me feeling a connection to this couple. Of course, the story carried me away it I totally forgot my pet peeve.

The h's children were another reason I feel in love with this story. Oh my goodness, I could just picture King Alfie and his horse guard battling. The youngest with a talent for foods and had just the right amount of spunk - typical 5 year old that made me laugh more than once.

There are more villains than you can shake a stick at, but of so many honorable hunky knights! This author knows how to write battle scenes that I forget I am sitting in my living room reading and not up in a tree taking all the sounds and smells in.

There is a passionate lovemaking scene, outside of marriage - heat level 3.5 out of 5 described in detail once. Then another time barely described.

Allow time to savor this story because once you start you can't stop. There is suspense, intrigue, twists, honor, dishonor, fantastic main and secondary character's, great banter and a spot on story line, as you always get from this author.

The author notes in the beginning had me tearing up with all the memories of this great family. Then she hits us with an even more emotional ending with Jordan, which made me cry. I had to remind myself THIS IS FICTION, but it's hard to remember that when they seem apart of your closest friends.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and just the right amount of spice. (ljb)

Ugh. This reminds me why I do not read historical fiction. The first 5% of the book is the listings of all the Clans, Names, People- how in the world would I remember all this?

The storyline was ok, I liked it enough to finish it but man, you probably should start at the very beginning of these books with "Poppy" (I think?). As a reader coming in cold, it was too much. I think this is the 3rd generation of characters that this author is writing about, but I could be completely wrong, who knows? I gave up caring. Sorry for all your hard work in creating a line of characters, but its too much if you aren't willing to read all 50 books before this one. I might be exaggerating, but there is a bunch of books.

One thing didn't feel right- Markus and Amabelle, not much relationship building. We go from some pretty words with a kiss on the hand to full blown sex and nothing in between. Then having sex again and then bam- marriage. I would have liked more dialogue between characters rather than just feelings. Get to know each other?

When Markus de Wolfe hears that Roget de Saque is dead from his wife, Lady Amabella de Saque, he decides that he will go to Castle Trastamara. The death of Roget is suspicious to say the least and the holdings are being run by one of Roget’s knight instead of his own son who is a squire fostering somewhere else. Markus knows he must go and see exactly what is going on. Markus gets to the castle and meets Amabella and can’t help his interest in her. Markus is not only stunned by Amabella but is charmed by her and her children. As Markus and Ambella get to know each other an attraction is born. An enthrallment between Markus and Amabella is hard to believe especially since Markus is younger than Amabella. Still Markus can’t help his feelings and his passion for Amabella or she for him even with so much strife between Roget’s men and the Scots who want war.
What an amazingly fantastic medieval book with much action, adventure, fighting and a beautiful love story all rolled into one! Sure the love is between a much younger man and older woman, which is written quite wonderfully with much deft and flows smoothly, while all the characters from the major to the minor are life-like and three dimensional. Markus the brash and at times arrogant knight is just the perfect hero and such magnificent fodder for the best book boyfriend. Yes, sometimes you want him to take it down a notch but he’s handsome so he’s forgivable. Even with his attitude he’s easy to talk and relate too. Amabella the quiet winsome mature heroine okay yes she’s a cougar but she’s so cordial and pleasant that it really doesn’t matter what her age is. Ms. Le Veque can definitely deliver an enjoyable story that not only entices but holds you spellbound until the very end!

Long live the ‘king’- terrific story!

Markus deWolfe is a member of a famous, well respected, long line of powerful English knights. He, his brother, and father become involved in a potentially dangerous conflict involving marauding Scots, and a strategic English property on its northern border. It is during this situation that Markus, while visiting this property, meets the lovely Lady Amabella de Suaque.
Amabella is the widowed mother of the young man who’s recently inherited this property that needs protection, as well as three additional younger children. While her seventeen year old son has a bit of experience, having been trained as a knight, he’s not ready to run this place on his own. This is why Markus and his family are present.
As his time there passes, Markus becomes more impressed with the woman who’s a decade older than himself, and further involved with her children. But, Markus is expected to leave soon to become the personal guard to the king of England. It is a position he and his father have wanted for him for years.
Will his feelings for Amabella destroy his future or create one for him?
This is a wonderful story with so many elements. The characters, especially the children, are not only humorous but integral to the plot. I found myself chuckling more than once at the ‘king’. The two main personalities are interesting because of the age difference and their pasts. Without giving up any spoilers, this is definitely a page turner, filled with everything an historical romance should have right down to the last word. I highly recommend it!

Grandson of William de Wolfe Markus de Wolfe about to appointed Lord Protector of England for King Edwards. He’s destined to be a premiere knight in all of England it’s in his blood and his heritage. Marcus is sent to Castle Trastamara to retake the castle after the overlord holding the castle is killed. The new heir is serving as a squire for Marcus’s father Atty de Wolfe, they’ve been keeping the castle safe for the heir Atlas.
Amabella Hemada Abril de Sauque is now a widow with four children whose garrison captain Sir Shand Bexwell who is aggressive and threatening has taken over her home and castle. She send a message to their liege lord Patrick de Wolfe aka Atty for help. The de Wolfe army and Marcus arrives to retake the castle and keep Amabella and her family safe, to protect the new heir. Marcus is drawn to Amabella, but she’s an older woman total not the type of woman his family will approve of as his wife. Amabella is the mother of four already what does she want or need husband at this point in her life. He son will inherit their home and castle. This story is filled twists and turns as Kathryn has done an outstanding job of writing wonderful character introducing us to the grandsons of the great William de Wolfe. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing story.

The only recently widowed lady of Trastamara Castle has secretly sent a cry for help to her liege, Patrick de Wolfe. After the death of her husband his trusted knight and second-in-command has resumed command of this strategically important castle. By doing so the knight disputes the heritage of the lady’s firstborn ... and not only.

I’m an avid fan of historical romance and absolutely love Le Veque’s books. After having read a fair share of historical romance I think that this author is quite unique in capturing and relating the atmosphere around knights, their battles and the women claiming their hearts. I found it very refreshing that this book dealt with a taboo issue and towards the end of the book the author even offered a “compromise” for all those who didn’t really feel at ease with the age gap between the lead characters.

This book was a solid Le Veque medieval romance. The plot unraveled at a slower pace, which gave plenty of time to insert and develop subcharacters that supported the plot perfectly. The attraction between Markus and Amabelle also grew slowly but steadily, as both main characters were mature in their thoughts and knew what they wanted. I loved this patchwork family and hope to meet them soon again!

Markus de Wolfe the son of Patrick and soon to be the Kings protector. When they receive word from a messenger saying that Roget de Sauque has been killed a few days prior. Questioning why they were not notified or why Roget’s son and heir had not been notified they move their army to Trastamara to find out what has happened.

Amabella de Sauque secretly sent a message to their liege Patrick de Wolfe informing hIm that her husband was killed. Afraid for herself and her children as he husbands second in command has taken control of Trastamara and intends to wed her and assume the role of the lord.

As Markus and the de Wolfe knights take control of Trastamara and try to unravel the death of Roget. Markus is falling for the beautiful Amabella and is determined to protect her and give her a life she deserves, but he has been assigned to be the Kings protector a very prestigious position.

I can’t say enough about this story! I loved everything about it! I could go on about the story but I don’t want to spoil anything. I have loved everything de Wolfe and it is no different with this one, I love Markus!

Markus de Wolfe is a giant of a man and the greatest knight in England. But when an ally is murdered, his family move to help the de Sauque family and defend their castle.
But what the very handsome knight did not realise, was that he would be coming to the rescue of the beautiful Lady Amabella Hemada Abril de Sauque and her four children.
This is a story of new beginnings of finding love in unexpected places, new opportunities and yellow eggs!
But what makes this story absolutely outstanding is Kathryn Le Veque's magic mastery. She writes in such a beautifully natural way that the conversations held in this book by the characters are so humorous, heart warming and relaxed, that you can feel the love and camaraderie between all these different family characters. This is such a touching story.
Kathryn also cleverly pulls you in visually, allowing the children to get under your skin with their funny, demanding ways, whilst also being enchanting and sensitive.
There is so much more to this story than plots and intrigue, there is emotion, humour, passion and love all wrapped up in Medieval chivalry.
This is a story you will never forget.

Lady Amabella de Sauque has been suddenly widowed,  and is worried that the Captain of her husband's guard is up to no good.  She sends to her allies for help to protect her family and home.

Markus de Wolfe is descended from a line of powerful men and is about to be appointed as the Protector to King Edward.  When his father gets a call for help from one of his allies they rush to help.  The son of the murdered man is serving in one of the family castles as a Squire.

This is a great story with several twists and turns.  The characters are absolutely fabulous especially  the two little ones.  ( I can't wait to read their stories someday).  Our hero makes a choice that others will not understand, but if you have read any of this author's books before you will know her heros always choose the right path.  You can't help but be caught up in the story from the begining to the end.

A really great story as usual.

The life and legend of Sir William de Wolfe lives on in his sons and especially his grandsons. What a grand experience to relive his era, and adventures with his grandsons in the world they live in. Markus de Wolfe is the son of Patrick (Atty) and a Viking mother. He is the oldest son, big, muscular, handsome and proud that he is a well-known knight. If fact, King Edward has enlisted Markus to become his Lord Protector. Lady Amabella de Sauque has send a missive to Patrick stating that she is afraid for the lives of her family and herself, after her husband was found murdered. This of course, alerts the de Wolfes and they ride to protect them. The story is wonderful full of humor, memories, evil villains, and I have wept at the memories brought back to life. Thank you, Kathryn, for creating new memories for us and I can not wait until the next Grandson is introduced.

I've read only one other book by Kathryn Le Veque, but I had no trouble following this one. The author does a great job of letting the reader know the relationships among the many characters. Even though I wasn't familiar with the large de Wolfe family, I found myself falling in love with them. Characterization was extremely well done. Although Markus de Wolfe is a fearless warrior, he's not afraid to show his tender side, particularly to Amabella's children. The portrayal of the children, particularly the younger two, is very entertaining. And seeing how Atlas, Amabella's oldest child, struggles to take on the responsibilities of a man and leader, made me sympathize with and admire him. Luckily he had mentors, particularly Markus, to guide him.

Having the love story involve an older woman and younger man was something I hadn't read often. The author pulled it off beautifully. The ending was very satisfying as well.

Another wonderful page turner about the de Wolfe family. This one has us meeting Markus, son of Patrick, grandson of William. With the death of the 0wner of Trastamara Castle, Berwick was called upon to provide knightly aid and support until the oldest son could take ownership. In residence was Amabella, wife of the owner and four of her 5 children. Amabella had been married for 20 years and was now a widow 10 years older than Markus.

Following Markus doing his duty, becoming acquainted with Amabella, and his interaction with her children was a wonderful read. Read the book and become acquainted with this wonderful man. I bet you won't forget him.

The Cubs break out

Book #1 starts and ends on the Scottish border. Markus DeWolfe was helping defend Trastamara Castle with the 17 year old heir. Markus was the grandson of Wm DeWolfe and son of Thomas “ATTY” DeWolfe. The lady of the castle was the widow Amabella de Sarajevo & had 4 children. She was 10 years older than Markus, but love had no age limit. Markus was a tower of strength, loyalty and passion and wanted a life with her. A fierce battle at the castle wall and one with In their hearts found peace with their decisions. Love does conquer all!

Several catch your breath moments in this story will make you realize that this story is not predictable. Marcus is delicious, a credit to his illustrious father and grandfather. Ama is lovely, but it is her unique children that steal the show in this romance. As we have come to expect with Ms. Le Veque’s books, there is action, intrigue and lots of passion and readers will eagerly turn the pages and many will, like me, sigh at the very end and hope that we will again meet these intriguing characters in subsequent books.

Homecoming

It's been awhile since I read a Kathryn Le Veque book. It is cozy to return to a world I still feel some familiarity with. A new reader does not have to have read all of KLVs books of this Medieval world for this story holds its own if it is your first story to read. Someone, though, who has read many of KLVs books will find that this story has all the elements one loves in a good story. There is romance, wonderful world building, great characters good and bad, and oh-so-adorable children.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves a great historical story!

Kathryn LeVeque does it again. She never lets you down. The
story of Markus deWolfe and Lady Amabella and her children is
so touching. The way she connects the characters through all her
books is the part that puts her in a category of of her own. Once
You start reading the deWolf’s you feel so involved in their family
that when you read it gives emotions of goosebumps, chills, happiness,
and tears.

Really good

Typical Le Veque which is always good. Each story has enough unique elements to feel original, and while she liberally peppers her stories with past characters, it somehow does not matter. There is no need to read all of the prior stories. The hero arrives to help a new lord with his inheritance and in the process charms the children, vanquishes the foes and marries the widow.

My heart beats de Wolfe!

Truly, my heart beats de Wolfe! Any story written about a de Wolfe knight by Kathryn Le Veque is what my heart beats for, I swear! When I read this story my heart raced, it skipped a beat, it hurt, it pounded, it fluttered, it is amazing what a de Wolfe can do to me! Love love love Markus de Wolfe and can't wait for all the other de Wolfe cub stories! Especially loved the littles in this story - Ambra and Alfie, they were the cutest kids ever!

Love finds Marcus when it is least expected.

This is another well written Kathryn LeVeque historical romance book. I have read all of her books and because they are a continuous line of the sons and grandsons of night men she is already written about it is like a family reunion. I enjoyed Marcus's story due to having a special friend who served in the Marines and the Air Force as a pilot.

A New Generation

A very good start to the new generation of de Wolfe cubs! Markus de Wolfe, Patrick (Atty) de Wolfe's son and grandson of the immortal William de Wolfe has his journey written in this first story. Amabella is older and has four children. She has been disrespected for twenty years and now she is in need of assistance. Enjoy this story. I look forward to the other stories to come in the de Wolfe Pack Generations Series.
