I don’t know what I was expecting when I started reading this book but I can say I didn’t expect something so gritty. The cover is so nice and sweet, but the inside was nothing like the cover.

I started out thinking I wasn’t going to like it because there was a lot of information provided in the first chapter that made my head spin. I was 100% wrong because I FLOVED it!

I don’t care for cops and I don’t care for informants. I’m always pro bad guy. Maybe, it’s because I grew up in the hood and the police where I come from do more harm than good. But in this book, I was rooting for the informant. Don’t get it twisted, I was never #teamFBI. I just wanted to throw that out there.

John is deep in undercover with some local hot shot criminals and he wants to talk them down from hurting someone he loved. Gianna is estranged from her family and needs help finding her mother – that’s where John comes in, even if he doesn’t want to.

Gianna was everything that John wasn’t. She was sweet, kind, but had the don’t fuck with me attitude down to a fucking science. John was dangerous, rugged, and hard fucking core. He had a body and attitude that screamed, don’t fuck with me or I will kill you.

Told from dual POV’s you really get a chance to see into each others inner demons and they both had a few.

Let me tell y’all, the chemistry between John and Gianna was everything. It was practically vibrating off the pages. From their very first encounter the air around them wass thick and palpable. At times I felt like I needed to leave the room so they could have a moment. LOL!!!

While John is trying hard to keep his identity secret while undercover, he isn’t doing so well with keeping his feelings in check when it comes to Gianna. But here’s the thing. . . he’s not just undercover, he’s undercover with Gianna’s family. That kicks everything up a few notches and adds a great deal of risk to his already risky situation.

Gianna doesn’t want to get too caught up with John when she has her family to think about. She tries time after time to keep her thoughts off of this grumpy, sex on wheels man, but it’s hard when he is flaunting all his sexiness around. A girl can only deny herself for so long before she gives in, right?

There was so much suspense and drama in this book that I found myself unable to put it down, even after working for 16 hours in the hospital. That’s some serious commitment. It was just that every page I turned contained new information that I just had to figure out before my mind could rest.

Reading the book was like watching a mob movie on HBO and I love mob movies. I think I was a crime lord in a previous life. Regardless of the fact. . . I loved when John would talk all dirty and commanding. I think there may be something wrong with me.

“There is no more, Gianna. The only thing I can offer you is a good fuck.” – John

I would have put my hands up and said, “Okay.”

I loved the story, I loved the characters, I loved the side story, and I loved the main story.

Do I recommend this book? Yes, I do.

Will I read another book by the author? Yes, and I look forward to it.

Bottom of the Sky was darker and grittier than I was expecting but no less amazing for it. I was blown away by the characters and was sad to see it end. Lucky for me, Santos and Gyselle will soon be telling their own side of the story! Can't wait :)

Quick Summary
Gianna's mother has fallen off the grid, again, and Gianna knows that her father's family, the wealthy and connected Silvas know something about her mom's sudden disappearance. Problem is, they aren't exactly on speaking terms. She needs an ally to help her get close enough to find out what's really going on. Her "in" comes in the form of John Rossi. He works for the Silvas and could get her the information she needs. Problem is, John Rossi isn't exactly the charging knight to the rescue.

"I am playing nice. The real me," he pauses, releasing a low rumbling sound, "is so much worse."

John Rossi has his own agenda and there is no room for dashing rescues of doe eyed innocents like Gianna. He has his own reasons for staying close to the Silvas. Pairing up with Gianna was meant to keep her safe and far away from her shady family. Out of sight and out of mind, right? If only things were that easy!

I’m twice her size, but this girl can take me down, knock the wind right fucking out of me with one look.

What I loved about it:

There’s something that fits between us. Despite the fiery exchanges and battle of wills, there’s something—and it’s more than just the sexual chemistry.

That right there is the recipe for great main characters. A little heat, a little spark and a whole lot of that something electric that binds them to tightly together that you can't help but fall in love and root for them.

John and Gianna. They have that in spades!

Both are as different as night and day but I love these opposites attract stories because no matter how different they may appear, their similarities outweigh them.

I really loved the complexity of the characters, the steady pacing of the story and the snarky dialogue. But I especially loved the build up of the romance. There were so many facets to John and Gianna's relationship that really fleshed them out for me. I don't even know if I can properly express just how invested and attached I became to these characters.

I was seriously a ball of nerves and giddiness while reading this one. All I can say is that I was hooked and I couldn't stop reading until I finished. And even then, I went back for a quick re-read because I need more!

I loved the bantering and the always simmering heat that kept me glued to the pages! So if you like red hot sizzling tension and bad ass characters that don't back down and always stay determined, than I highly recommend Bottom of the Sky. It was an amazing story with a great cast of character you can't help but root for!

Favorite Line(s):
“Don’t fuck with my rules, and I won’t fuck with yours. Mutual respect.”

He may be bad for me but he feels better than life.

Memorable Moments:
The car ride after the airport & the quick escape and adrenaline fueled chase through the store was hilarious!

The broken bedroom fan scene was another Lol moment. Talk about first impressions :)

I have to mention Gyselle. She piqued my interest but her break down at the end, nearly broke me! I HAVE to find out what happens to her and Santos after that crazy ending!!!

A special THANK YOU to the author for reaching out and offering me a chance to read and review. I had a blast and am anxiously waiting on book 2!

Didn't like the way John played Giannia, nor did I like his dishonesty. Loved Gianna, absolutely LOVED her, she's exactly the sort of heroine I love to read about.

Now then, I HATE the bloody V card trope, but the author played this one brilliantly. I'll never be converted to that ridiculous "keep herself pure" side - it IS 2017 and people do actually have sex in my world - but this one actually worked.

I would have liked an epilogue further into the future with them actually being together as a couple, that lost a star because given their problems and non-couple status right the way through the book I needed to see them living their HEA

Move over embrace romance and welcome romantic suspense! I’ve previously read – and thoroughly enjoyed – several books by this author in the past and was expecting something similar again . . . . but though her writing is still as enthralling as ever, what a change of genre!

The story is told from the points of view of the two main characters. John Rossi is out for revenge and has voluntarily been undercover for the last two years to gain evidence to enable the FBI bring down the mobster Silva family. He’s survived an attack by someone else working for ‘the family’, managing to deflect the reasons for this and maintain his increasingly important role with the two brothers who now lead the family. What he wasn’t expecting was to receive a call from their cousin, Gianna Silva, asking for his help locating her mother. He’d given her his number after she’d attended the funeral of her beloved ‘Uncle Vincent’, the previous leader of the family, but had never expected her to use it as she lives cities away and has little, if any, contact with other members of ‘the family’. She knows she can’t just go in to visit and ask what has happened, she’d probably end up missing herself, so thinks John is her best option and could be the only way for her to find her Mum again . . . . However, her first job is to convince him to help her!

There’s plenty of intrigue, danger and suspense in this action packed story. The characters are brought to life by this talented author and, by telling the story from the alternating points of view of both main characters, it is easy to relate to their hopes and fears and to empathise with them both. There are secrets to be revealed, a rival family, a wedding to attend and the FBI to do their job as well as a romance to be developed. The back stories of the characters are slowly revealed together with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. As I wrote before, I’d never read anything in this genre from this author but I’ll certainly be looking out for more in future!

I requested to be able to read and review a copy of this book and would like to thank those involved for enabling me to do so. This is my honest opinion.

description

I really went back and forth on my rating for this one ... I kept bouncing between three and four stars. The reason I kept wavering is because the beginning of the book did not keep my attention in the least. I actually started reading this book a couple of months ago and then put it down because I just wasn't feeling it. I wasn't attached to the characters, I wasn't attached to the story line or anything else in the story, for that matter. Sometimes I do get into a book funk and what I'm reading irritates me like nails on a chalkboard - since that's usually at no fault of the book, I have learned to just put the book down for a bit and then pick it back up later. Which is what I did this time.

I still had that feeling at the beginning of the book - not connecting to anything - but once I delved deeper into the following pages, that feeling eventually dissipated. I ended up really enjoying Gianna and John. I liked the chemistry between these two and I found myself not so patiently waiting for their next heated interaction. There was a lot of push and pull between these two that made their exchanges exciting and extremely amusing.

For the most part, I liked all of the characters. Except two ... Stefano and Santos. I could not keep these two dudes separate. I couldn't remember which was which to save my life. Even after finishing the book, if someone asked me which one was getting married in the book and they would give me a million dollars for the right answer, I couldn't tell you for sure. I would totally guess. And I would probably get it wrong. I don't know what it was ... Stefano and Santos seemed like a single entity to me.

There were a few surprises that threw me for a loop. I figured some of them out before the secrets were revealed but a couple got me and that's always nice. For the most part, a pretty good book once my mind let me get into it. I'll probably pick up another book by this author - she writes a pretty nice suspense novel.

* I received this novel in exchange for an honest review *

Riveting story with strong, intriguing characters. This book reminded me of how much I love romantic suspense. Sure, I enjoy getting lost in a light, even angsty romance novel, but you can't beat a good romantic suspense novel. And this certainly fit the bill. Both lead characters are strong and likeable, and they had page-melting chemistry, which made their journey to love all the more satisfying. The plot is riveting...I stayed up late to finish this one, which is something I rarely do, but I could not stop reading. The main characters have a satisfying resolution to their story, but I hope there is a follow-up book for Santos and Gyselle; even though they were secondary characters, I was mesmerized by them and am dying to see how their story gets resolved. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I'm really glad I found her.

"Sensory Overload" is how John describes his interactions with Gianna. It is also how I would describe this book.

There were times where I was on edge waiting to see what happened next. Then, times where I laughed out loud. Followed by the intense chemistry that flowed between the two.

The is a fluidity to the story moves from one scene to the other. It's like watching a movie because I can see every play out in my mind.

Great new adult book...

This is an enemies to lovers book. Two really strong characters with a lot of depth. I liked both characters a lot by the end of the book even if I did want to smack them both several times, lol. John is looking for answers and working with the FBI and in walks Gianna asking for help and it's in the middle of his investigation that involves her family.

These characters had great push-pull. Watching them both fall was epic. At one point John takes Gianna to his cabin he hasn't been to in 2 years since something tragic happened and they really fall every fighting step of the way, lol. The scenes in the water of them swimming and a day of fishing are pretty epic.

We learn a lot about John here, and later the mystery of Gianna's mom, who was originally what Gianna had asked about comes later in an epic wedding reveal of her cousins, or are they.

Never read this author before. I just randomly liked the premise on KU so grabbed it, and what a treat!

Well done. Good steam, good mystery, good romance.

5 dirty boy toy stars!! I have read all of this authors work and this did not disappoint!!

This is a stand alone book (though I think it would make for a very interesting series) of enemies turned lovers.

This is Gianna and John's love story...

Gianna is family of the mob and John is enemy of the mob. Problem is John is undercover and he really does not need this smart mouthed, curvy, stubbornly beautiful woman distracting him. Gianna needs him to help find her mother. What happens when opposites sides need each other...

I love this story!! First of all anything with a bad boy draws me in. But a bad boy who is also good....Omfg!!! Not only was this book hot and exciting but it was so damn funny. I think I shed tears laughing so hard when he was chasing her through Walmart!! This book drew my attention from the first page. John is super sexy and damn do I love him. Gianna is one hell of a spicy little thing. She is exactly th what kind of chick I like to read about.

This author executed this book very well and I was very impressed. She was very descriptive. The book was an easy read that drug you into this whole dysfunctional family which by the end I kind of fell in love with. I couldn't have asked for anything better. This is a MUST read!!

**I received this book as a review copy from the author and in return I gave my honest review**

I really enjoyed this book. I loved spunky, sassy, funny Gianna and that she didn't take any shit from John, who was struggling with his own issues. A completely absorbing and well written story by a new to me author. I'll definitely be reading more from Shae Ross.

Really enjoyed this book but felt like it was building toward more. It felt abrupt for the main characters to just be done with the main plot suddenly. I surprised to see that there is not another book in a series to resolve many of the issues and secondary characters.
