I can buy my secretary’s submission—or I can take it the hard way. My ex-wife’s fatal car crash left me with a cruel gift: A daughter I never knew I had.
I am a billionaire. A mob boss. A titan. Not a babysitter.
I need a woman’s touch to help raise my daughter. My secretary doesn’t know it yet, but her life is about to change. Charlotte is gorgeous. Feisty.
And best of all… Desperate.
So from now on, we’re going to do things my way. It starts with five little words: “Let me own you, kitten.”
KOSTYA is a standalone, single dad mafia billionaire romance.
Nicole Fox writes smart, sexy mafia romance novels. She is a crazy cat lady in her late 30s with a coffee addiction, an overactive imagination, and a husband who somehow puts up with her impulsive need to keep buying new plants for their house.
The book was okay... -It was too slow for my liking -I like my heroine's strong...this heroine was anything but...I mean she was sassy and had come backs but was basically a doormat in front of the hero -Kostya had A LOT of mood swings... like make up your mind already!!!
Anyways...I didn't like this book so much but it won't stop me from future reads by this author. Maybe I'll pick this book back up another time and give it a shot.
This was book 1 in the "Heirs to the Bratva Empire" series. This was a pretty good read. Charlotte is secretary to Kostya Zinon is a businessman but there are things about him that he does that she knows nothing about Kostya is a Bratva boss. Charlotte is dealing with a lot looking for her missing sister and her mother who has a shopping addiction and no job. When he finds out that his ex-wife has died in a car accident and that he has a three-year-old daughter that she hid from him. This was a good read both of them have a lot of sexual tension. When Kostya hires Charlotte to be his daughter Tiana's nanny things really heat up although he was hot and cold at times. I loved the relationship between Charlotte and Tiana. I also liked the secondary characters in this book although I didn't like her mother. There were some really good sex scenes in this book. When the Irish mob kidnaps Charlotte Kostya does what he needs to do to get her back. This was a pretty good read, but this book did have a few errors in it. I love reading Nicole's books she is the Queen of the mafia dark romance reads.
A new twist on the surprise baby theme. Kostya is the wealthy "legitimate" business owner that is constantly plagued by rumors of his Mafia involvement. Charlotte is the adorable, naïve, clumsy assistant to Kostya who has a secret crush on her Boss but is not aware that he is hiding an attraction to her as well. Things get complicated when Kostya is informed his ex-wife was killed in a car accident and he is the father to a 3 year old daughter whose existence he was not aware of; he makes Charlotte an offer to change jobs and become his daughter's nanny/caretaker. There are twists and turns and danger throughout the book as Charlotte becomes more aware of the life Kostya has kept hidden from her while trying to reconcile the feelings she has developed for him. No one writes Mafia Romances like Nicole Fox and this one was no exception.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
Kostya is the head of the Zinon Bratva and his ex-wife is killed, and her 3-year-old daughter has no family. Kostya needs help taking care if Tiana and plans to ask his assistant Charlotte to be his Nanny. Sparks fly between them, but can he trust Charlotte? Fast-paced with loads of drama and plenty of steam. A great mafia read.
dnf! i gave up on the first chapter itself! he is lusting after his secretary ( no judgement, i originally picked it up for the boss secretary trope alone) then next instance we get to know that he has a wife, whom he loved since he was a kid but she left him in the middle of the night some 3years ago, is dead! (ok, am i supposed to feel bad? it just ick me out for some reasons) "he roars like someone had suffered a mortal wound" - yeah right! its hard to believe that when just few minutes back he was sporting a hard on for his secretary! next bomb is that he has a 3 yr old girl. cue the anger towards his dead wife for keeping the child from him . the secretary calls him in the middle of his melt down and he is having improper thoughts abt reddening her white ass. (dude! you have been handed back to back earth shattering news ! pipe it down! everything doesnt have to be in your face! )
lots of yo yo-ing of emotions, and this was just chapter 1 !
if it was an actual paperback , i would have thrown this book out like Bradley cooper does in the sliver linings playbook .
Charlotte has a fire in her that’s not ignited until Kostya lights the flame. He moves her from his office to his home taking care of a daughter he just found out about. And that’s not all he wants from her. This story is great! It kept me turning the pages until the end. Lots of hotness between Kostya and Charlotte as well as conflict and misconceptions.
“Let me own you, kitten.”............. i mean seriously, this line is not encouraging to delve into this book. Am not a fan of heroines who let the heroes take over their lives.
I had a great time with this book. The characters are strong and developed with plenty of chemistry. The storyline has a bit of twists making for a great plot.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
>Book Review – Kostya >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Zinon Bratva series and ends in an HEA. Charlotte originally works for Kostya as his assistant. An assistant he lusts after. After his daughter comes in to his life, Charlotte moves in with Kostya to care for his daughter. Kostya mentions how great a job Charlotte does for him as his assistant. I thought it odd that Kostya does not hire a replacement assistant for Charlotte after she changes jobs. A new assistant could have been a source of jealousy for Charlotte. >A plot hole happens when Charlotte is shown that Kostya’s enemies infiltrated his home via the nanny. Nothing is ever mentioned regarding the evil nanny and the threat she poses to Kostya’s daughter though, apart from letting Charlotte know the nanny is in place to hurt the child. Charlotte is a very smart girl who makes really poor decisions, especially when she thinks Kostya may be a mob boss. She decides to tape a secret meeting he is attending and thinks the consequences of that will not be that big of a deal? Her actions only cause Kostya to not trust her. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. The story has some plot issues that need to be addressed. I am giving this book 3 stars.
I was enjoying it right up until Charlotte got stupid 🙄 I mean, just straight up, only-has-two-brain-cells kind of stupid. I stan a variety of MCs. Strong and badass? Absolutely. Soft and sweet? Amen. A combination? Hell yes. But stupid? I do not fuck with stupid.
Who THE FUCK hears rumors about their billionaire boss being head of the freaking Bratva, walks in on him beating the ever loving shit out of an enemy’s man, and then thinks, “let me take my dumb untrained ass to play spy at the local Walmart” (ok it was a hotel not a Walmart but whatever Walmart is funnier). What a dumb bitch. Honestly. OF COURSE she gets caught. OF COURSE he thinks she’s a spy for the enemy. OF COURSE she has no real plan or explanation and can’t even just spit out the truth, which is more believable than the shit she spews, because if she’s dumb enough to go in half-cocked with no idea of what she’s doing beyond an intent to get snoopy, OF COURSE she’s too dumb to have an exit strategy.
Ugh.
And then she gets all high and mighty with him? Acts like she doesn’t know the answers that are staring her in the face, until he says them out loud? Doesn’t even say that she “knows deep down but needs to hear him say it out loud”. Nope, just full on crazy pants denial.
And while I’m ranting, let’s talk about her mother. She pays EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS A MONTH FOR HER MOTHER TO GET HER HAIR DONE. What in the ever loving hell is with her not being able to set even a modicum of boundaries. Yes yes your sister is missing and your dad died and now your mother is sad. She can be sad without blowing all of *your* money. Why on earth would anyone enable that? And then complain about how she treats you? Like honestly.
Anyways Kostya is hot and deserves someone smarter than Charlotte (like me. The author should just write me into the book. I’d do right by him). And at least the sex is somewhat hot. That’s a bonus.
I JUST REMEMBERED. I WAS CATFISHED BY THE FREAKING BLURB. Here it is:
I can buy my secretary’s submission—or I can take it the hard way. My ex-wife’s fatal car crash left me with a cruel gift: A daughter I never knew I had. I am a billionaire. A mob boss. A titan. Not a babysitter. I need a woman’s touch to help raise my daughter. My secretary doesn’t know it yet, but her life is about to change. Charlotte is gorgeous. Feisty. And best of all… Desperate. So from now on, we’re going to do things my way. It starts with five little words: “Let me own you, kitten.”
HE NEVER SAYS THAT OR CALLS HER KITTEN AND THAT’S HALF THE REASON I EVEN READ THIS ONE. I’m a sucker for ‘kitten’ as a pet name and it drew me right in. Well, that along with the whole sexy, dominant type. And then I don’t get it at all. And it just… blows. It blows, man.
On top of all of this, there are a few typos and missing words. I guess if I’m going to complain about a book I might as well put it all out there. Also I’m realizing this review makes it sound like I hated the book, which I did not. I just feel very passionate about the parts I disliked. Books I hate get a two or one star review. So three means I liked it. Four is I really enjoyed it. Five is I’m obsessed to the extent I want to crawl in and live it.
Now I’m on to read the second because APPARENTLY I’m a glutton for punishment and the MC is also referred to as ‘kitten’ by the love interest in the blurb sooooooo clearly I’m just being set up for disappointment again but what the hell we’ve already come this far.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It starts with five little words: “Let me own you, kitten.” Kostya Zinon is a billionaire businessman and leader of the Bratva in the west coast. Charlotte Lowe has been working for him for almost a year, and since the first day they have been fantasizing about each other. Kostya receives news: his ex-wife, Natasha, who abandoned him 3 years ago, has died in a car accident and is informed that she has left a 3 year-old girl. In that moment Kostya finds out that he has a daughter. Kostya offers Charlotte a considerable increase in salary in exchange for living with him and take care of his daughter. Charlotte has debts because of her mother, so she accepts the deal even knowing that it will be very difficult to resist the attraction she feels for her boss. When she moves there, she doesn’t know that Kostya is a gangster, that he is in full war with the Whelans( Irish mafia) and what she doesn’t know is that she will fall in love with Kostya’s daughter, Tiana. With a thousand dangers in every corner, a missing sister, a controlling mother, an irrefutable attraction, Kostya’s distrust at every step, Charlotte has to face many situations that will make her not recognize herself.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my voluntary review.
Honestly, Nicole Fox is killing this Mafia romance thing! She has done it again with Kostya.
Kostya is head of the Zinon Bratva. He is tall, handsome and a cold hearted killer. He also has a secret yearning for his assistant Charlotte. Charlotte really doesn’t know what his other line of business is. In turn, Charlotte is having day dreams, night sweats and all sorts of fantasies about Kostya. His biggest issue on making a move on Charlotte is her innocence in regards to who he really is.
Kostya, finds out that his ex-wife has died, leaving him with a 3 year old daughter he knew nothing about. What is he going to do? Charlotte, she is the answer, move her into his house, have her take care of his daughter and hmmm keep his hands off Charlotte! Not going to happen because even though Charlotte takes the job, she is even more drawn to him now that she sees him as a father getting to know his daughter.
That’s the beautiful side of this story, how well these characters come together to protect and raise this little girl. The darker side is a rival, the Irish Mafia is making a move on his territory. As if that isn’t bad enough, Charlotte’s crazy mother finds information on Kostya and threatens to reveal it to the police if he doesn’t find her other daughter and bring her home. Never mind the other daughter left years ago to get away from her crazy mother.
Fighting two foes, one he is sure he can eventually defeat and the other an enemy he has no clue how to deal with Kostya eventually is put in a position where innocents might die.
I stayed up until 3 am because I could not put it down, it is one of those “I’ll just read one more page and then you do it again and again and again.
One of the things I truly love about Nicole Fox’s Mafia books are her wonderful add on extended Epilogues. Just remember to always click on that link and get the Extended Epilogue, you won’t be sorry.
Phenomenal!! I’m an absolute fan of Nicole Fox and this book is a good representation of her writing. Kostya is the lead to the Zinon Bratva who actually has a heart. Being a billionaire he donates money and one place is a children’s hospital. He was married once to Natasha who blackmailed him. All the lies and deception hurt him. He wakes one morning to find she left her wedding ring and him. Fast forward a few years and Kostya gets word that she was involved in a car accident where she died. But the kicker was he has a daughter he didn’t know about.
Charlotte is a wonderful person. She’s an awesome assistant to Kostya as well as a great nanny. She works to support her mom whom is a nasty, self centered b*#%*. One day she hides a recording device because she wants to know what Kostya does. Well his right hand man finds the device and Kostya thinks she working for the Whelans, his rival. Things get heated between Kostya, Charlotte, his right hand man and the Whelans.
While Charlotte’s mom was babysitting Kostya’s daughter she went snooping. She finds letters he wrote to his daughter just in case he dies. She uses those letter to blackmail Kostya into finding her other daughter. But because of his past with his ex wife he believes Charlotte is in on it with her mom. He fires her. The Whalens kidnap Charlotte because they believe it’s a way to get what they want from Kostya and hurt him in the process. Charlotte has a secret that she wasn’t able to tell Kostya. Even though he fired her will he rescue her or attempt to? Will Charlotte be able to tell him her secret? Will she ever find and keep her happiness?

A churning throng, chocked full of unexpected events and daunting circumstances exposing all those emotions running rampant, thrusting them into play front and center. Delineating the thrilling, well rounded scenario's, ramping up the adrenaline and gusto with such exuberance and precision, blasting this little fella to life spectacularly. Engaging the drama, intrigue, turmoil, deceit, kidnapping, blackmail, danger and soaring suspense while tension spirals, wielding this little fella together flawlessly. Bridging the trials and tribulations, along with a slew of unforseen twists and crushing turns, tempting our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. The chemistry sizzles from the pages alluring and mesmerizing until you feel the electrifying hum running rampant through your veins. The characters are authentic and realistic with qualities and traits that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so colorfully described it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Nicole, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
What an addictive, deep and sexy ride! This book played like an action-adventure movie in my head, and I just didn't want it to end. Okay, I didn't want it to end badly for sure, but I could have continued to read about Kotya and Charlotte and Tiana for a few more chapters. Her mom, I wished her death a few times, like every time her character was on a page though. I would love to see more stories involving the guys who work for Kotya, that would be cool. I couldn't put this book down, the build-up was steady, both with the steam and the action, both sexual and violent, but I didn't want to skip over any part of it. The writing was engaging, the characters were either easy to love or easy to hate. I did take an issue with the injuries that Charlotte sustained during her thing, how injuries were written about before the exchange, but then when the fight scene was over, she was only minimally marked, but also unwashed and disshelved and yet no one mentioned it at all, not even the child who would have been the first one to honestly comment on what had happened to her. There was a series of instances where her injuries are almost cataloged as she plans her future retribution to the ones that hurt her, but those injuries just disappear. Aside from that though, the book was exciting to read, so much Bratva drama, secrecy, and scheming, minus that one complaint that I had, it was all pretty amazing to read, honestly.
Kostya’s cover is that he is an elusive financier and billionaire property developer. He is also a talented architect. Of course there are people in the know and people with their suspicions that he is the don of the Zinon Bratva. Charlotte is his excellent personal assistant. She has her suspicions that something is awry but she enjoys working for her ornery boss. The fact that he is a stunning man to look at helps ;-) Kostya is also attracted to Charlotte but knows that he shouldn’t mix business with pleasure and manages to stick to this rule, albeit difficult at times. When his ex-wife gets killed in a car accident, he discovers that he has a three year old daughter he knew nothing about. He also discovers that he doesn’t have a clue how to be a parent! Charlotte however seems to have an instant and mutual rapport with the little girl so Kostya informs her that not only is her job title changing to nanny, she is also moving in with them. This makes it much harder to keep his hands off Charlotte and they both end up acting on their attraction which complicates the situation and Kostya’s life goes from controlled to chaotic in a heartbeat. His bitter feud with Irish mob is also heating up at the worst possible time. A brilliant, well written, and interesting Bratva story. Entertaining throughout. Loved it!

OMG SO MANY TWISTS AND TURNS 10/10 WHERE ON EARTH AM I SUPPOST TO START!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kostya is the head of the Zinon Bratva. He is a billionaire hiding in clear sight of everyone. He is shocked to find that his ex wife who left him 4 years ago had been killed in a car accident. Kostya is gutted only because he wanted to kill her himself. But what is the biggest shocker is that he finds out he has a 3 year old daughter. He has no idea how to take care of a child so talks his PA to look after her. The only problem with that is he has been having crazy fantasies about Charlotte. And now she was going to be living in his house taking care of his daughter. Charlotte has been having lots of dreams about her boss and now seeing a different side of him as he takes care of his daughter has her body on over drive. But then something happens that changes everything And that's all you are getting as I would hate to spoil any of the twists and turns in this book and let me tell you there are loads. I was hooked on this book after the first chapter Its a brilliant read that will just keep you hooked and up all night because you wont want to out it down!!!!!!! It deserves so many more stars than 5 its a 10/10 read!!!!

In this book we have Charlotte, who has been working as an office assistant for Kostya. Charlotte doesn't know this but, Kostya is actually a Russian Don, as in mafia. Charlotte has been running is legitimate business office operations. She likes her day to day jobs she has. However, one night they both find out that Kostya has a 3 yr old daughter with his ex-wife who he knew nothing about.
Kostya wants Charlotte to move into his house nd become the nanny / caretaker of his 3 yr old daughter, Tiana. Kostya offers Charlotte a considerable increase in salary in exchange for living with him and take care of his daughter. Charlotte is also taking care of her mother, as her father died a few years ago. Her mother, hasn't stopped spending money - and she is a very high maintenance woman to try to keep in line. Her mother worries about her other daughter who went 'missing', only to find out she left to get away from their mother. Charlotte has always tried to be the good daughter, and to help her mother, but, at the same time, she can't keep this pace up.
There are twists and turns and danger throughout the book as Charlotte becomes more aware of the life Kostya has kept hidden from her while trying to reconcile the feelings she has developed for him.

This talented author has written a well–paced, enjoyable somewhat dark mafia romance that is guaranteed to attract the reader’s attention & keep it until the end. The character’s personalities are well-developed & intense with far-reaching plans combined with a determination to succeed, they display believable emotional feelings & reactions. There is good support from the secondary characters. The plot is well-written & entertaining with good scene descriptions & world building. There is: a rich Bratva Don (Kostya) discovers he has a daughter (Tiana) after his ex-wife’s (Natasha) death & decides that his rather feisty executive assistant (Charlotte) will be the caretaker of the child but Kostya is also attracted to her, Charlotte’s despicable mother & a missing sister (Lila), twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, secrets, action, adventure, Bratva mafia, Irish mafia, rivalry, danger, threats, violence, conflict, brutality, assassination attempts, harassment, abduction, deceit, betrayal, blackmail, emotional turmoil, misunderstandings, accusations, verbal conflict, contempt, distrust, vengeful feelings, injuries, apologies, contentment, love, steamy scenes & a well-earned satisfying conclusion.
I thought with such good reviews and ratings this would be a good book to read. Clearly, it was considered a good read by a lot of folk so I was looking to getting started. It just didn't work for me. I found Kostya to be careless and predictable. He also seemed to me to have confidence issues. The love interest has a serious codependent relationship with her mom and she is not very mature...do 30 something year old females day dream that much? Perhaps the author intended these elements to make up the characters personality or I'm interpreting the characteristics incorrectly. Either way, I did not find these folk to be entertaining. My favorite character was the three year old child. The adults in this book are a hot mess. I did not enjoy this book, but I did finish it, hoping it might get better before it ended only to find at the end of the book you must download an extended epilogue for closure if you choose to. Otherwise, the book seemed to end abruptly to me. This could be because I was so disappointed I didn't bother downloading the extended epilogue.
Mafia Romances are my favorite genre. So I have read a quite a few Nicole Fox works. Nicole fox is always able to keep me engaged with her characters. Kostya is no different in that respect. Kostya is a strong alpha male and Head of the Bratva and has an infatuation with his personal assistant, Charlotte. Charlotte has had feeling for Kostya for awhile. Neither Kostya nor Charlotte really seem to know how to act on their feeling. Kostya does not want Charlotte in his Bratva life and Charlotte does not want to get invovled with her boss because she needs her job. Kostya and Charlotte's relationship is an interesting read, but it is also frustrating. Throw Charlotte's terrible mother and this book makes me want to throttle Charlotte for putting up with her because Charlotte deserves way better. This book is full of twists and a kidnapping. I would definitely characterize this book as a Dark Mafia romance. But I loved every minute of it.

“WOW” from start to finish this book was action filled, it was brutal in places and definitely erotic in others, an intense drama with twists and turns you just don’t see coming. If your looking for a sweet romance this is not the one for you. It’s a story of trust and acting on impulses and feelings to hopefully reach a HEA. Kostya is a dark Russian mafia boss with enemies who is thrown into fatherhood when his ex wife a conniving bitch dies in a car crash leaving a three year old daughter he never knew he had. Charlotte his sexy young PA fantasises daily over her boss fortunately their feelings are mutual but not acted upon how would it work out when she moves into his house to be nanny to his daughter, would they be able to resist there feelings ??? Charlotte has an overbearing mum who thinks she can manipulate Charlotte and Kostya surly this only means trouble!!! This story just pulls you in the flow of this book is amazing and definitely not one to miss. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I am happy to give.
I liked this book, there was times I thought I might more than like this book and then ... nah , it stayed in the kinda liked category.
At times the writing was confusing and the author forgot her own details: 1. “I can see she has my eyes” then a few pages after ... she has Natasha’s eyes . 2. Tiana is described with blond hair, then AGAIN a few pages later... she has red curls when sleeping? 3. The police chief tells him where she is and then... he takes someone important to gain the information he was already given ... I was stumped, I thought I had missed pages so I went back a chapter to reread to make sure I didn’t miss something... I didn’t ...
Also, Koysta was mean and callous until he wasn’t... the switch was so fast I almost had whiplash...
The more I write this review the more I realize maybe it’s not worth the three stars I’ve originally given...
Another con, no epilogue... you have to give your email to get one... at 1am, I don’t want to do that!
Phenomenal story. I was pulled in from the first page and the intrigue, tension, and smoking hot romance kept me up long into the night until I finished the book.
The Russians are my favorite mob boss stories and Kostya has all the right stuff - serious, hard, decisive, powerful and has only one weakness that an enemy can exploit - his unabashed love for Charlotte. You will have to see for yourself how your ovaries hold up when he meets another lady his life.
Charlotte is Kostya’s very capable assistant that he enjoys watching leave the room, pick things up off the floor, etc. She is not afraid to speak up to him, but does so primarily when the matter is concern for him or someone he loves. She is so good for him and his family.
The mob life gets all up into their business making them really work for a very satisfying HEA.
