Age of the Andinna #4

The Rebel's Vision

Rate this book
One declaration was all it took. The Andinna Rebellion has begun. Knowing that the fight will be hard, Mave has taken back the title of Champion. King’s Champion. She’s resolved to stand tall beside King Alchan Andini and fight for him, and to fight for her people.

But it’s off to a troubling start. Not enough manpower and no way to get their remaining warriors out of hiding, the leaders of the rebellion have found themselves battling against their own inevitable failure. If they don’t find solutions to their many problems and fast, the Rebellion is doomed before it even begins. Mave is hamstrung by her own inexperience, Alchan is trying to keep the hope of his people alive and strong, and the Company is being pulled in every direction.

The first step of the Rebellion is taking back the Andinna port city of Kerit, but they can’t do it alone. Their homeland holds secrets, however even unexpected allies bring their own problems.

Plagued by doubts, Mave is going to have to search deep within herself to find the resolve she needs to win her coming battles. Both at home and against the Empire.

Book 1 The Gladiator's Downfall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book 2 The Mercenary's Bounty ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book 3 The Warrior's Assault ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book 4 The Rebel's Vision ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

ll these books are pretty much on par with Each other. So this is just more of the good stuff

If they’re all as great as each other then what’s left to review ... If you liked this series so far then you’re going to like one too.
Nothing for me can compare to Gladiators Downfall. The arena and escape was a tough act to follow. What did follow was a lot of world building and slow burn relationships.

It picks up right after book 3, the Andinna have been forced out of their homes by the Elvassi. After rescuing the captured females they are in hiding in the remote mountains. They’ve decided to fight back and have declared war.

The breakdown of this one was 80% world building/relationships and 20% revolution.

There’s one relationship which has been building, one which for me is the epic romance. We still have that bit of will they/won’t they that keeps the pages turning but the awww of the harem she already has going.
I’d like Mave to show her warrior side more, now the revolution has finally begun more action will come back? A few more training montages instead of female politics wouldn’t go amiss.

I got bogged down in Andinna culture a little, bit how can I really hold it against an author for creating such depth to her world? It even has its own language. Books like this just don’t come about in RH very often.

Some exciting developments happen with Trevan the Elvassi guard. There are multiple POVs which really gives this that epic fantasy feel.
Anndddd there’s another romance going on too. If you like the secondary characters romance and want more, head over to Kristen Banets FB page for some steamy scenes that didn’t make the book

It’s hands down my favourite RH of its kind

Finally! SPOILERS! GO AWAY OF YOU DON'T WANT THEM!

Rain and Alchan! Finally! And Yenni can have the baby? Why did that just pop in my head? I don't even really think that. I just like the name... maybe.

Mave and Luykas! Finally!

Ouch! Poor Zayden. He's up next though!

Also, Trevan! I want him in Mave's harem. Maybe next book?

Emerian, why do I think he wil be important somehow?

Also, why don't I really like or have never cared about or felt connected to Bryn or Matesh?

Oh and Luycas' sister Nyria! The sorcerer! If her mom finds out she's probably gonna die. I really hope not. I liked her immediately after she was introduced, last book was it? If she ends up with Alchan, it's gonna be weird, right? They aren't blood related though, so whatever. But super powerful dominate female half Andinna half sorcerer Elvasi could unite what's of everyone left after the war, right? Hmmm.

Well, now the wait begins.

Oh where to begin? Book four picks up shortly after the last book ended. It continues to build the world of Andinna culture around the readers. We get to know all the primary players on an even deeper level as well. There are more than a couple surprises that show up. Things that we've all been waiting for, holding our breaths in anticipation for, come to fruition.

I love this series. It's one of my favorites atm, and one of the very few RH that I still look forward too. Kristen has done a wonderful job building this epic fantasy world into a place readers can fully immerse themselves into, allowing us to get lost in it.

Dramatic

Amazing. There are few secrets left by the end of this story. I love all of the drama and the crazy surprises that took place. I am so curious how many men Mave will have in the end. Everything is coming to a head and I can't wait to see how this war and the Andinnas fair.

Holy smokes!!!! Not only does this book hit the ground running, it rarely stops. We have the ebbs and flows that are natural to Epic Fantasy, the pauses in the plot push where time moves forward, relationships are solidified and subtle motions are made... yet this IS THE book where the crux and heart of the metaplot is forged in iron and blood.

After deciding that just existing and saving the occasional Andinna slave wasn't enough anymore, the Ivory Shadow company, or rather, the Royal Guard, are stepping up and stepping in.... crafting a dangerous and bold rebellion against their Elvisi Overlords - and everything that they represent. It's brash, it's suicidal, and it's the only option they have left.

Mave truly makes large leaps forward in this installment, discovering who she is beyond the blade and grit. Her relationships are growing, adding hearts to the mix WE, as readers, may have seen coming, yet seem to surprise her with their reality. She needs it though, the love and comfort of a steady heart, and what a full Mayara (though it's not quite full yet, is it?) may mean for her and the rest of her men. It's emotional and raw, and breaks down what it means to really understand where another is coming from... and where they are going.

I can't wait to see what happens next!

**I received an ARC of this novel and am thrilled to share my honest opinion!**

Pros:
~ Mave is FINALLY letting go some of her anger and fear, stepping beyond her past and starting to see a way to a future where she can be the Andinna she is meant to be.
~ Alchan.... while I really want him with Mave, his Character Arc is divine.
~ Luykas - I adore that white winged fool.
~ Revelations: There are so many... but still quite a few questions left and new ones raised.
~ Family units. Enough said.
~ Epic Fantasy done right.

Cons:
~ Oh Mave... that last bit? What the heck are you thinking???

Perspective
~ Third Person, Multiple POV

Ending Type
~ Cliffhanger, episodic

Rating
~ R to Mature

Romantic Dynamic
~ MMMF (for now) Elsewhere, M/M

Character Age Range
~ 1000+

My FInal Verdict on The Rebel's Vision

I am head over heals in love with this series and recommend it to any and everyone! If you like fantasy, you'll love this. If you enjoy Reverse Harem, you'll love this. And if you just love complicated, deadly and political machinations and plots... you'll love this. Free on Kindle Unlimited.

Ugh, so so good.

Another beautiful installment of this series.

MY PREDICTIONS HAVE BEEN RIGHT.

Seeing Luykas is now one of Mave’s husbands.
I’m assuming with the blossoming happening in this book that Zayden is soon to follow next book.

AND I WAS RIGHT!
RAIN + ALCHAN

AHHHHHHHHH *swoon*

I’m crying.
They are adorable.

The war continues and the Andinna are successful.

What I’m most sad about is the constant mention of Rain in his wyvern form.
I don’t want that prediction to come true.
I refuse to even voice it.

PLEASE let everyone get their happily ever after.
*cue the tears*

Seanev coming back was predictable. I knew it the second Bryn was captured. I found that storyline kind of sad to be honest.

But alas, it just adds to the heartache.

Again, these books are SO FUCKING GOOD.

I was pleasantly surprised by Shadra’s daughter.
I’m also wondering if Trevan will be a part of the harem.
Zayden is next, making it four, so Trevan may have a part in it.

We shall see.
Ready for the next book.

This was a lot better than the previous books. There was a lot of development in the story, and really progressed in this one. That being said I still have so many questions that have not been answered. For every answer I get, I have eight more questions. We’ll see if they get answered in the next book.

Wow a lot to unpack here

Read with Gotta Have Romance With a Kick goodreads group.

Wow, this book really has a bunch of different things going for it. SO MUCH has happened idk where to begin.

This book is building the word that was spoken at the end of book 3. Rebellion. This is the start, this is how they are going to get the rebellion started.

I am actually surprised by how many twists and turns there were. I had no idea who the Elvasi noblewoman was. I had no inkling that there was tension between Rain and Alchan, of the relationship variety. All my group members did, they noticed it early on. I’m really curious how Alchan will eventually have an heir. Since this is mostly Mave’s story I also wonder who else will be in her harem. I have been thinking Zayden might end up being in it, but I can’t truly tell. I also keep wondering about the different povs we get of the Elvasi and human Mave left behind. Yep still alive there too.

There is just soooo much.

Peace seems pretty far off for the Andinna. Now that the Empress has made it her sole mission to eradicate them and enslave them all, she's upped her game. Trevan and Dave who helped Mave escape in book one are finally on their own way to safety and security traveling on ships. Course the journey takes months and hiding with hundreds of escaped slaves + Andinna is no easy feat. Personally I loved Mave's reaction to learning the two were alive, the guilt she feels at forgetting about them showed how kind natured she is even after 900+ years as a captive herself. She also adds one more to her group of males which seriously took long enough and leads to almost too much sexy times when I wanted war :P

Man, I can’t get enough of these books. I love these characters so dang much.

This series is ALL about the relationships (and not just romantic ones). We have character tensions, growth arcs, friendship arcs, enemy arcs, romantic arcs, adopted and not adopted family arcs - like it’s all so well intertwined, I just devour it haha. Framework plot is all about getting the rebellion off the ground, but again, it’s mostly background as the characters come to the fore.

I wish I saw more of Matesh and Brynec in this one. They felt like they were very periphery, which makes me sad. I also miss seeing more of Nevyn and Varon’s antics, so hopefully we’ll get more of them in the next book too. I’d love to get more details on how they met eventually. It’s been mentioned vaguely, but I always love getting more detailed backstories on the Company.

Also, can I say FINALLY? Luykas and Mave have danced around each other for 4! books, and I’m so proud of all their growth in this book. They’re so well matched to each other, and their relationship feels the most “epic” of the group. I love how they are equals and balance each other. Like yes, please, sigh me up for more haha.

Alchan really grew on me in this book. And Rain. Those two are adorable and I’m totally rooting for them. They match so well.

Loved the twist with Nyria. I had a feeling about her, and so for it. Can’t wait to see where that goes.

Zayden, my poor grumpy son. He’s still growing on me (he’s obviously gonna be the next love interest), but my heart definitely hurt for him at the end.

Senri and her fam are some of my favs. I love how they are like Mave’s adoptive parents, and the guys are totally ready to go kick some butt when she’s crying. Like, she starts off all alone at the beginning of this series and she has so MUCH family now. Found family tropes are some of my favs.

In summation, I adore this series and would happily read about these characters’ daily antics happily lol.

Can’t wait to see the next book!

I wonder if Trevan is going to be a possibility? That could pose issues since he’s Elvasi (not to mention all the trauma she and Bryn suffered from Elvasi, so there’s gonna be some family conflict there). She’d have quite the diverse group, though, with him. Hm, guess we’ll see!

RE-Read April 2021: Still loving the cover art. Different perspective this time as a re-read, I was ready for it to be over so I could get to the next 3 books that I haven't read :). I am wondering if Zayden will become one of Mave's husbands? She brings him to the realization that he is just as much a male as ever even without the injury? Hmm. I tried really hard to avoid all spoilers, so I am just speculating since the author tends to want to lift up and strengthen the injured and downtrodden.

Interesting how they deal with their dead, a day of remembrance in which you can see them. Devastating for Mave. And Leria and Seanev- I can't help but wonder where that couple is taking things. Onward!

Original review: This story ended fast- I wasn't ready for it to be over! I knew I was close to the end but man, I was so into the story that I wasn't ready.
They finally march forward in the Rebellion, Mave has a "new" love, Rain & Alchan give in, new characters- its all so freaking good.
The story and world are great without too much extra weighing it down. No seven layers of hell to deal with and it keeps it light- in my opinion- and so the story clips along quickly for me.
I enjoyed how they can have hope as they move forward and I can't wait for the next book.

Okay, here goes my honest opinion for the book TRV AotA book 4. I will state that I received a(n) ARC from Kristen Banet and will be sharing my honest review of this masterpiece.

I absolutely love this series, and that’s not something I say lightly. It drew me in from that very first chapter and now 4 books in, our Andinna rebellion has finally kicked off. Mave has become the Kings Champion and must come to grips with the Company’s first of many newest problems: how to maintain a whole new civilization for their people started from scratch, and to get their Andinna men and women ready for war.
I will say I wasn’t expecting Luykas to come into the harem at this point but it had to happen sometime 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m rooting for Zayden next (Especially with him wounded I’m hoping Mave will give him someone to lean on)
But I really didn’t like the way she just kept shoving aside Brynec and Mateshs concern for her with these dreams just because Luykas has the blood bond!!
I realized that this book was a decent escape from all the fighting they’ve been going through, which I feel is because Kristen has prepared for nothing but bloodbath in the TET. Which I don’t mind at all, it’s time for Andinna to take to the skies and fight for their home, Anden, and free their people.
I cannot wait for Trevan to be reunited with his Mave and I’m hoping Mave will get over her guilt for leaving Dave and him behind in Elliar.
Alchan and Rainev are the perfect side couple- seriously can’t wait for daddy Zay to find out and hear his thoughts/actions on learning of the relationship.
Missed Uncle Lashaun and his humor as well, we need him to spice things up a bit when shit hits the fan and it gets serious. Such a charming character.
Nyria was a wonderful twist to the story! I hadn’t expected it was her until she revealed herself, I’m rooting for her and Luykas to team up against mother dearest, and have some sort of sibling relationship in the future. There are a few more Easter Eggs in this story that are too good to spoil, you’ll just have to read to find out for yourself.
This was a well thought out series and these cliffhangers make me bonkers!!!! The way Empress Shadra ended this installment makes me excited AND terrified for the next one. Praying everyone we love comes out unscathed for what is revving up to be a wild ride.

Geez, this was really good. I find myself wanting to complain about the ending of this one, but if I stop and think about it the only thing wrong with the ending is that it's the end and I'm not ready to be done.

This may be the best reverse harem I've ever read. I can't wait to dive into the next one. There are currently six out with the seventh and final due out in the spring. Since I haven't managed to accomplish anything but read since I started this series, and I have surgery tomorrow, I find myself wondering if I will have enough of these to get me through a surgical recovery or of I will also be suffering with book drop while convalescing from surgery after having read all that are available, back to back, non-stop.

Seriously, this is good stuff that keeps getting better with every installment. I thought there was a bit of a sophomore slump in the second, but the rest have all been better than the one before.

Good stuff, this.

This is midpoint of this series, and I am enjoying it more with each book. It starts off with Mave (MFC), not knowing about the society she was kidnapped from, so we learn about the world along with her. It was a good way to give the reader the information without it being an info dump which happens in many fantasy novels. By the time time book comes around we have a good grasp of the world but there is still more to be discovered. I also like that that book is told through multiple pov, not just Mave's. In this book we also have a viewpoint of the enemy, which I wonder if in future books will be used to "soften" our opinion on them. Highly recommend for fans of fantasy. Just read the trigger warnings before hand, I didn't think it was too heavy, but everyone has a different line in the sand.

I just love this book and the journey that these people are on. I can't wait for all of the people Mave loves to be in the same place all together (the guard and Mave BETTER have a thing together). It is going to be interesting when the slaves are free because I want to see how they react to Mave. I NEED to know when the next one is out.
I stayed up all night reading this one, and there are 3 more books to go??? I'm happy that there is more of this story, I'm sad I read this book in one night and I'm also sad I have to wait for the next book.

Mave is the Champion of all of our hearts 😍 she is perfection. I hate how she has to face off with the people she’s been tortured by for her entire life, but I know she’ll find a way to turn the situation around. Luykas finally stepped over his personal hurdles for her to accept him as hers and her family just keeps growing with more and more love to share with everyone.

Actually 4.5 ⭐

First time reading:
FINALLY!!!
I'm so happy that Luykas belongs to Mave now... officially 😍😁

And Achlan and Rain??? How exciting!!!
I kind of hoped that Achlan and Mave would end up together but this is good too!!!
I am interested to see what the King will do with his Heir problem 🤔
And the king telling Zayden about him and Rain just screams trouble, also the fact that Luykas is keeping the secret about who his mother is...
Let's hope that the company can work through it 🙏

Second time reading:

One of my favourites out of the whole series! I really really like the connection between Mave and Lukyas, and also the respect between her and Achlan!

The Gladiator's Downfall, ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
The Mercenary's Bounty, ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
The Warrior's Assault, ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BETTER AND BETTER

I love bad*** female main characters, and Mave is the baddest! She kicks major butt in this series and as the reader you get sucked into her drama so hard. The world building that Kristen is capable of writting is by far some of the best I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The romance between Mave and her harem builds slowly and naturally. It feels organic and not rushed. That being said there has been plenty of sexy time. It just felt natural and appropriate. I don't wanna give any spoliers but you find out more about those left behind thank goodness! The suprise Mave gets in this book is heartbreaking and empowering at the same time. I don't know how Kristen does it but this is a must read series!!

An unforgettable journey

This series is one that just gets better and better. And the writing , the pace, how realistic it is, just makes it all the better. The way the story and the relationships are being developed makes me speechless because it's so beautiful to read. I can't believe we're over halfway done and only have 3 books left. Three books I am looking forward to and terrified of as I am scared of the potential losses of the many characters I have come to just adore. We have had so many revelations in this book and knowing there's much more is just... also the title for the next book gives me chills and makes the dread all the more real

This book was so damn good, i loved it. I really feel how the characters grow and develop as each book comes out. I just hade wanted Mave to show her warrior side more, i missed it. Yesss Luykas is finally Maves husband, next one is hopefully Zayden (even tho i feel like they don´t have reached those strong feelings for each other yet). And then i feel that Trevan is maybe gonna join later on or not. Yaas bitch RAIN and ALCHAN, they fkn cute
Argh noo that damn ending is killing me, i need the next book now!

Now the real battle begins.

What a rollercoaster of a book. Ghosts, long lost family, guerilla warfare, another husband... I have previously stopped reading series where the harem grows over time as I have found this cheapens the relationships both the old and the new. Here it develops naturally and I believe it. I liked the conflict that arose from the different experiences of slavery which meant that domestic issues were as important as the martial and had to be dealt with.
