Detective Liv DeMarco thought transferring to a new unit would make her problems go away, but they're just beginning...When bodies start dropping after a string of home invasions, Liv and her partner are called in to investigate. This thief turned killer only steals jewelry, electronics, and cash. But his method of killing varies greatly. Liv's instincts tell her he's after more than just some shiny baubles. The killings weren't opportunistic or unavoidable - they're the real motive behind these crimes, and stealing's just a side benefit. Now Liv and her partner must find a way to determine the killer's next target. The case leads them to cross paths with someone from Liv's past, someone she thought she'd never protect. But she swore an oath to uphold the law. And no matter who he is or what he's done, he needs her help. Even if he won't admit it…

Secrets

Once again Alex Kinkaid features heavily in this series.
The Archibald Estate had a sale as all three daughters wanted a clean start after their mother died.
Purchasers of items from the estate sale are being killed and the items they had purchased were stolen.
Liv had been working undercover at Spark, a nightclub owned by Kincaid. Fed up with undercover work, she transfers to homicide and Fennel pulls some strings to transfer as well, so the dream team will be together.
An informant is killed whilst under police protection at a safe house, two officers seriously injured. Brad & Liv both get hurt, but are walking wounded.
The delivery company is checked out, but provides no leads.
The name of Marilyn Archibald keeps cropping up, a close friend of Alex, which arouses Liv's suspicions, all signs point to the killer being a former cop or ex military - one of Marilyn's security detail.
Calling himself 'Wild Bill', the assassin has let Liv go when he had the chance to kill her.
The deeper they dig, the more they realise all the incidents are linked to Alex, he is the next target. He asks for Liv's help.

Fast paced crime thriller

Liv and Brad have always been a good team. Moving to Homicide was Liv’s idea but Brad made sure he wasn’t going to be left behind. Their partnership was based on trust and always covering each others backs, something no one going into homicide would do without. Once again we meet Alex Kincaid owner of Spark nightclub, where Liv on a previous case worked undercover as a waitress and on occasion cage dancer, not something she would want to repeat. When Liv turned up at Spark when Alex’s name came up through her current case, looking for a killer thief she was welcomed by total mistrust by him and his staff.
Getting Alex on board to help with the case is going to be impossible. Will Liv find a way? Intense, fast paced crime thriller which I thoroughly enjoyed.

deadly dealings

I enjoy De Marco and Fennel, they banter as a married couple but are partners, as cops. Mostly they are friends that respect each other. Liv gets Brad as a big brother whether she likes it or not. He gets her smart ass remarks. While she is head strong he is calm, they are the ying and yang, to one another. Finding a killer and the why’s for it all was a great story. Looking forward to the next story/ case.

More than 5 stars!

The intrigue begins when you see G K Parks on the cover and just ratchets up as you begin to read. All the intensity of the hunt and the passionate drive of officers who swear an oath to serve and protect but find themselves searching for clues to take a killer off the streets. I'm immersed in the story and have to reenter my world for things like fixing dinner, engaging in conversations with family and friends but... I don't want to, not until I know Liz, Brad and the other good guys are safe. Thats the heart of the proud mom of a police officer. I began reading GK Parks with the Alexis Parker series then read Julian's series to date and now Detective DeMarco ' s . I can highly recommend them to you but I believe reading them in order builds your understanding of the characters and what they face. This is my favorite in the DeMarco series so far!
