Another Excellent Pulse Pounding Story Book Five in this series delivers on every possible level. I love the storyline, plot details and the author's writing style, like having a movie play out in your head. The cover art is terrific, perfect actually for the story that lies between the pages. The imagination and world building in this series is paramount with thick an richly developed layers that keep the pages turning and the series pumping. Excellent series. Excellent read.
After focusing on Jake Takeda and Edith Fafnir's physical and emotional battles in the Daughters of Death, it was nice to see a more tender episode featuring Adeola. Adeola has found a somewhat peaceful existance until she gets sucked into the Royal Family's woes once again, this time via her brother, Prince Kupanga. I loved the truths that came out in The Guilty Path, the personal growth and wisdom that developed in Adeola, and the treachery and deceipt that were revealed. When I say tender, don't make assumptions... Book 5 is just as action-packed and full of unexpected twists and ferocious battles as the earlier books. I truly could not put it down, and ended up staying up half the night reading because I had to know how it ended. Highly recommended, and my favorite of the series to date.
I don't read a lot of sci-fi anymore, but this series has really hooked me. This is a fast read, with lots of tender moments, action, and twists that made me keep reading just one more page to see whether Princess-turned-adventurer Adeola would manage to help her brother Ku and save the day. The world of Samael has a nice original feel to it as well, which makes the story and characters deeper than expected. I hope future books will show us more of Adeola and her family! Definitely one to read if you love female heroes.
I enjoy this world so much! It has some cool magical elements intermingled with tribal workings and ways of life. You’ll find lots of action and political intrigue throughout the story. The end left me wanting to read the next book immediately.
