An exact reproduction of the original book HISTORY OF THE CALIPHS by by al-Suyuti and Henry Sullivan Jarrett first published in 1881. History of the Caliphs is an extensive account of Muslim rulers starting with Caliph Hazrat Abu Bakr in 11 AH (632 AD) and ending with Caliph Al Mutawakkil in 903 AH (1497 AD). Al-Suyuti (the author of the orignal work) expended immense efforts in reviewing the works of notable scholars of the bygone era of Islamic world, including ad Dahabi and Ibn Kathir. Kudos to H. S. Jarrett too for translating the work and plainly explaining the context of complex sentences (ancient Arabic is no easy language by the way)!

Even though the book is quite lengthy in itself (at +550 pages), the sheer length of the period covers causes the author to chronicle but the most notable events which occurred during the times of the Caliphs.

The book is a must-read for anyone interested in a concise summary of Caliphate.
