Accidentally married to a human stallion. And I can't even remember our wedding.
It's awkward, okay? I didn't plan on waking up hitched to Hubby of the Century. Or one little misadventure erasing every memory of us. No sweet nothings. No ugly cry vows. No flipping honeymoon. But every time I see Flint Calum, I wonder. How did I get so lucky?
Let's forget all six foot something of his oh-so-bad superdad self. His flashing eyes and SEAL perfected whip of a body aren't why I'm dizzy. It's the bittersweet way he smiles when I poke at my past. And something's very wrong.
He tells me I'll be fine. He says he'll get this sorted. He promises to be my shield. Totally not the pretender who'd scheme up an illusion to save my life.
Oh, but that's the thing about memories. Sometimes they come back with bitter truths wrapped in dilemmas. What if I can't stay mad at him? What if I need Flint to hero me back together? What happens when you fall in love with a beautiful lie?
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow - a marriage mistake with two fierce truths and a lie. A dark knight single dad plays for keeps to save Little Miss Forgetful from a wicked past. Full-length standalone romance novel with a fantabulous Happily Ever After.
Nicole Snow is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author. She found her love of writing by hashing out love scenes on lunch breaks and plotting her great escape from boardrooms. Her work roared onto the indie romance scene in 2014 with her Grizzlies MC series.
Since then Snow aims for the very best in growly, heart-of-gold alpha heroes, unbelievable suspense, and swoon storms aplenty.
Current fan favorites include her Enguard Protectors series, accidental love novels, plus long beloved MC romance thrillers like the Grizzlies and Deadly Pistols.
Accidental Shield is not really marriage of convenience. It is more like heroine who had amnesia being told lied that she married to the hero. So...
I do not necessary hate the book. Since it has a clever twist on the plot. What I can not stand is the slow burn. It is too super slow. I got bored by the push and pull and the sexual attraction. There were parts where I wish Miss Snow just hurry up and get it done with.
I simply love this author each book of hers that I am lucky enough to read brings mystery, danger, plot twists and heat and Valerie’s story is no different.
Valerie wakes up to a life she doesn’t recognise or even remember, confused and apparently married to the handsome man caring for her she’s lost trying to piece her life back together. Sensing all is not as it seems or what she is being told at least she sets out to discover the truth only to realise she’s in serious danger but from what. Can she trust this man swearing to keep her safe and does she have the strength to make it through all the turmoil and betrayal she’s about to discover?
Flint didn’t ask for a beautiful woman named Valerie to be dropped into his life but one look in her golden eyes and he knows he will do everything that he can to keep her safe. Knowing he has no choice but to lie to her especially when he discovers who is trying to kill her. Flint is being confronted by a past he had tried to forget but as an ex SEAL he knows he can and will keep her safe but how will she react to his lies and when his heart gets involved will she accept him and his son into her life and let them love her?
This was a slow burn love story that has me hooked from the beginning. The beginning of the story was a little slow but it builds a foundation for the rest of the book. I loved the back story of Flint and his son Bryce is a true character in the book. So if you like alpha protective men who are ready to defend the ones he loves and a heroine that doesn’t know how strong she is until she’s tested you will definitely enjoy this book. I am voluntarily reviewing and advanced reader copy of this book. 4.5
The synopsis misrepresented this story in such a big way right from the beginning.
This was also a very, very, very slow-moving story. I listened to 2 hours of this book and we were still on day 2 of her being drowsy and him panicking every time she got up too fast and consequently found herself dizzy. I also disliked how the heroine didn't have much of a personality aside from being needy believing that the hunk in front of her was her damn husband but all that can be attributed to her having amnesia and literally not knowing who she is (which is a big reason why I dislike full-on amnesia in the stories I choose to read). In conclusion, this book is getting a pass from me.
An average read. Frankly, I think I burned out on SEAL stories long ago. And this wasn't even as deeply invested in that scenario. It's an ex-SEAL living in Hawaii who runs security investigations group. Flint's a single dad with a twelve year old son -- and I really liked the kiddo. Valerie is a spoiled rich beauty who was literally sprung from the ocean, along with her "cat". No memory of what happened to her, and the twisty story tries to figure out who she is, where she came from and, of course, all while falling head over heels while dodging bad guys.
Nothing I've not read before, the writing was fine, parts were a little unrealistic at times. But a quick read that was an okay break from my usual stuff.
This was pretty clean in the editing department. Not a lot of issues to distract from reading. I’m giving it 2.5 stars though because it just wasn’t exciting and there were some bogus scenes. A lot of the decisions that the H, Flint, made would not be believable for someone who was actually a Navy SEAL. Just situations where there could be danger present and a real SEAL never would have taken a woman and child into. I’m not opposed to foul language, I use it a lot myself even. But the A had Flint using F or Fing words in nearly every other sentence. Just constantly in regular conversation and it was like that wasn’t even a strong enough topic or sentence to warrant it. It honestly distracted from the dialogue. The h, Valerie, wasn’t that great. Kinda came off like a spoiled little twit based on her lifestyle, but now she’s apparently more laid back. The brother sounded horrible. How was he forgiven? I skimmed over a LOT of the internal rambling and I didn’t miss any action. Frankly, I was just bored and if there was anything else new out today, I’d have just tossed this one back. The s e x scenes were mild and took forever to get to.
Loved this story. I have read several from this author and I love her work more and more with each book that I read. Valerie and Flint were so good together. They had such an intense chemistry between them. You could feel it coming off the pages. Great story with great characters and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

4.5 Stars She never thought forgetting her life would give her everything she ever wished for.
When Valerie woke up she never expected him. She doesn’t remember who she is or anything for that matter. The man taking care of her says he’s her husband.
Flint is doing his best to protect Valerie from the people that tried to kill her, even if it means deceiving her. He’s an ex-SEAL and he’s determined to keep her safe and bring the men that hurt her to justice.
Val knows Flint is hiding things from her. Little by little her memory is coming back. They are going to have to work together to discover the truth and bring down the bad guys.
A slow burn romantic suspense that turns on the heat. Flint is a single dad and all alpha. Protecting his family is the most important. It doesn’t take Val long to be part of that inner circle. Val was a sheltered and spoiled rich girl that doesn’t recognize her own inner strength until she is tested. When she is forced to be brave, she embraces that strength and proves she’s changed.
Their love is a gradual progression that will sweep you off your feet. And their chemistry is passionate and beautiful. An unlikely beginning that brought them to their perfect ending.
Hot, dramatic, hilarious, unpredictable, and characters who explode right off the page. Accidental Shield is LIVE, everybody! Happy 2020 to all my Goodreads fans.

Technically, everything I’m about to say is revealed in the book’s blurb, but let’s call this a spoiler in case you really want to go into this book blind.
Still with me? Okay...
The premise of this book, woman wakes up with amnesia and a super hot husband she can’t remember, who turns out to be an actual stranger, is shaky at best. Amnesia is always a hard trope for me to swallow, add in the lie of who she’s sharing a house and bed with and all of my ‘lack of consent’ sirens start screaming. To be clear, she doesn’t do anything more than first base with him before finding out about the lie, but man it was disturbing for awhile there.
Beyond that, the story took a serious suspension of disbelief to read. It had all of the typical components this author is fond of, Uber rich ex military alpha male single dad and much younger (though nebulously so) ingenue who needs saving. In fact, the hero even comments on her vulnerability being a turn on. Ugh. Add to that some cardboard bad guys and a that had me smh. But I knew what to expect going in, and this book delivers two hours of mindless sorta entertainment.
It’s no secret that I am a Huge (with a capital H) fan of Nicole Snow. I love her books because:
✔️They get better and better each and every time. ✔️The versatility in her writing keeps you interested. ✔️Each story’s setting is special and you will fall in love with it just as much as the characters. ✔️Her men are complex, strong, sexy, protective and swoon worthy. ✔️Her heroines are sexy, sweet, sassy and spunky. ✔️The supporting characters are a vital part of the story. ✔️The buildup and pleasurable tension will have you reading like there’s no tomorrow. ✔️The ending’s will always leave you with a satisfied smile on your face.
Accidental Shield, Nicole’s latest book, embodies all these things and is one hell of an incredible read. Do yourself a favor, TBR it and if you haven’t read any of her other books, do yourself another favor and scroll through her books, I can guarantee you’ll find something to add to your TBR list. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
Accidental Shield is a tropical adventure romance that will leave you with wanting the sun, beach and a sexy SEAL of your own!
This story is a slow burn, one where the fuse was lit in chapter one but takes it's time burning freely; but watch out because once you get to the explosive part, it burns beautifully.
I loved the characters, every single one. Savanny and Bryce stole every scene they were in. The respect and passion between Victoria and Flint was amazing and fun to read.
I also feel like this book is very atmospheric. I could feel the sun, smell the ocean and taste the delicious local foods. I've never been to Hawaii but felt a bit of it through this story.
The story is a slow burn as I stated above and in the beginning the action takes a back seat to the developing romance. I would have loved a little more action in the first 70% or so, but the ending made up for any feelings I had previously. I would now like to request the author write Clint’s story!! I received an ARC via and I am leaving an honest review.
Another fantastic book by Nicole Snow. Loved the characters. Good strong Hero and heroine. Really enjoyed this book. Can not wait to see what she comes up with next.
Half slow burn and half pulse-pounding adventure, this romance is an interesting combo. While all of Nicole Snow’s books feature elements of suspense, I’m used to her Accidental series being a little tamer, more relationship-focused. The action doesn’t truly kick in til the last act, but the bulk of the book focuses on our heroine’s memory loss and the events that lead to it. For that reason, I found it somewhat difficult to connect to the romance in this one. Flint feeds Valerie lie after lie at the start of the book, which isn’t really the recipe for a great love.
The story follows Valerie, a woman who wakes up with no memory of the man who claims to be her husband. All she knows is that Flint seems like the kind of guy who would be easy to fall for, and she loves the time she shares with him. Flint feels terrible for lying to Valerie about their “marriage,” but he’s doing it to protect her, and as the lies add up, so do his growing feelings for her.
Snow’s writing is always solid and you can expect plenty of suspense. I had zero issues with that aspect of the story; it’s the relationship that wasn’t as fulfilling as it could’ve been. The amnesia is an interesting premise, but the execution was problematic - Flint does a whole lot of lying, and Valerie comes off as extremely dependent and frustrated for a lot of the story. It didn’t feel like a solid foundation for romance, and while the second half of the book was much stronger in that regard, I couldn’t fully get past the beginning. Fans of Snow are likely to enjoy the book, but this one was just sort of okay for me.

Bartender line up the drinks and keep “em coming! Nicole Snow has once again wowed me with her latest book, Accidental Shield. This is a hot, steamy story that will have you reaching for a cool frozen concoction or a glass of mango tea. There is all sorts of danger and mystery and of course some sexual tension that will have you fanning yourself. I hope she writes about a certain surly doctor in her next book, yes Ms. Snow, Cash needs his own book! I will one-click anything this woman writes, and I highly suggest you do the same if you want gorgeous mean, turtles and romance. 5-glowing stars for Accidental Shield by Nicole Snow. Out of the military and the security business Flint Calum is just enjoying life, until his friend drops an unconscious woman off at his door and tells him he needs to protect her. Valarie Gerard is rich and beautiful AND has amnesia. Trying to make Valerie feel more comfortable a small white lie soon spirals out of control and Flint has a hard time keeping his hands off his new fake wife. Valerie’s life is in danger and Flint knows he is the only one that can protect her. Flint will gladly become her Shield, not to just save her life but to keep her close to him so he can continue to feel the amazing feelings Valerie brings out. Now Flint and his team must figure out a way to get information to bring down the men who are gunning for Valerie and not give away their secrets in the process.
From the witty chapter titles that hook the reader from the start all the way through to the spectacular, nail-biting conclusion, this enthralling story is everything a reader could want in romantic suspense. Valerie literally lands in Flint's arms before he can even figure out what's going on, but it soon becomes clear that she needs protection, even if neither of them knows why.
Once he figures out who they're up against, Flint has his own reasons for protecting her and hunting down those who threaten her, and this bit of backstory works very well towards making the final confrontation explosive. In the meanwhile, Valerie's memory is coming back, slowly but surely, while she and Flint try their best to ignore the combustible attraction that they share.
Vivid settings, engaging characters, witty and poignant dialogue, steamy love scenes, and inventive surprises are what we've come to expect from this author, and they're all here in this delightful story. As a side note, never before have I ever seen the word, "frolicking," used in quite such an enticing way. (Chapter 21, in case you're curious.)
All the plot threads are neatly tied up in the conclusion and years-later epilogue. This is romantic escapism at its very best, and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
“Accidental Shield” is a touchdown of a story with superb character interaction, suspense that keeps you guessing the outcome, picturesque, vivid scene descriptions that wow you, heart-tugging moments, family drama, spine-chilling moments, steamy romance leaves you breathless, and a happy forever every woman yearns for.
Flint, the blue glass-eyed buffed retired Navy Seal, has his hands full when Valerie Gerard ends up in his home from a near-fatal accident. Waking up in a strange bed, having no memory of who she is, and finding out she's married to the man with the spellbinding eyes has her in a tailspin. Flint finds himself in a dilemma when fiery desires flare up at the sight of her. Together they face dangerous obstacles before reaching their happy forever.
Memorable fast-paced read that held my attention until the end and I still wanted more. If I had to single out a hero, Flint would be the man I would choose; he is protective, caring, respects the woman Valerie is and a great dad. Valerie turns out to be quite a fabulous strong heroine. The author shows how letting go of the past is pivotal to have a loving future. Relishing this story, I voluntarily reviewed a pre-release copy via the author.
Waking up married to a Navy SEAL? Some women dream about it. Valerie is living it. Too bad Valerie has no recollection of her husband, marriage or anything else for that matter. Flint Calum, retired Navy SEAL, is persuaded by a former teammate and now respected doctor, Cash Ivers, to help a woman who survived a tragic accident and is now left with amnesia. Okay, that should be an easy task for these special ops guys. Well, here's the problem. Valerie has been targeted by the Cornaro Syndicate, an outfit that deals guns, drugs and human trafficking. Cash and Flint know all too well how dangerous they can be. That's a big problem. An even bigger problem is that in order to keep Val safe, they've told her she is married to Flint. But the biggest problem? Flint hates lying to Val. He really hates that he can't tell her the truth of what really happened, because then, he might lose her forever. READ THIS BOOK AND MEET YOUR NEW BOOK BOYFRIEND ! A STEAMY, SEXY, SCORCHING HOT ALPHA AND LOTS OF DIRTY, NASTY, SWEATY SEX ! ! ! AN ACTION PACKED, WELL WRITTEN READ WITH LIKABLE CHARACTERS THAT WILL STAY WITH YOU LONG AFTER YOU FINISH READING ! 💕 LOVED THIS BOOK 💕
I absolutely love Nicole Snow, her books are action packed, SO steamy, and some pretty heartfelt moments filled with strong ladies and SUPER alpha males (this one even included turtles!). Accidental Shield is no exception.
I might be a bit vague with my review, but that is because the blurb is a bit as well and you will not be getting spoilers from me- not today, Satan! All I can say that if I accidentally woke up to Flint Calum, I would do a freaking happy dance because this guy is AMAZINGGGGG. The story was engaging with a amazing hero, a sinister villain, a strong leading lady and a few others that help make it exciting and full of action packed chemistry! This is a strong 5 stars from me!
I love Ms. Snow’s writing style, it is dynamic and passionate. And I loved this book, it is very, very good! The storyline is engaging, it’s intense and thrilling with twists and turns and with intriguing characters. Val & Flint chemistry is off the charts, fueled by unusual circumstances. I loved that the author created Bryce and Beverly's characters and Savanny to bring some semblance of normalcy and a bit of humor to nerve-wracking situations. This book has it all from modern-day pirates to amnesiac to SEALs to turtles to an illegal cat to a great boy to the amazing love story. This real page-turner of a book kept me glued to my kindle through the night until there was ‘the end’. I will read it again.
Nicole Snow writes such great stories. They are full of mystery and heat all with a happily ever after. This one is no different. I loved Flint and Valerie!
Love, love, loved this story. Add in a water living cat, sea turtles, fantastic characters, and a mystery and this book was amazing. This is one of my favorites from this author.
I was unable to complete this book. It was slow moving and it never got interesting. Valerie has amnesia and Flint is "helping" her. I love Nicole's books but this was not a favorite book.
OMG Flint and Valerie full of twists and turns mixed with a some drama, They have sizzling chemistry that will set your kindle on fire, Thats it with out revealing to much of there story, I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book. Loved it from start to finish, another great story Nicole

Nicole Snow weaves a story of danger, passion, action, deceit, twists and turns, sexual tension, suspense, chemistry that sizzles off the pages, mystery, hot as scenes that will leave you in a puddle of lust, love, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
