Jennifer Preston Chushcoff is an award-winning author, artist and Master Gardener. Her stories and poems are published in anthologies, journals, and children's books. Her art appears in museums, galleries and private collections. You'll find her photo of Winston, her favorite furry muse, in the 2012 Shetland Sheepdog calendar. (He's Mr. October.) She lives in Tacoma, WA where she regularly frolics in the woods and water.
"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one." C.S. Lewis
Flurry uses some of the text of Snowflakes, while stripping it of its fun story about the first person to photograph a snowflake, which is the whole point. Hurried workmanship is on display here, as the smaller pop-up's are less impactful. They aren't even printed on both sides. Children already familiar with Snowflakes will be bored and wonder what happened to the rest of the book. For those of us who are familiar with snow, we know that flurries come and go quickly and make little impact, and in that sense this book is aptly named. My recommendation is to skip this one and wait for spring.
