I loved this book. It strikes the perfect balance between light-hearted isekai fantasy and feel-good travel narrative. You never tire of either, since the story jumps between the two genres every time the main characters goes to sleep and travels between modern-day Japan and the fantasy world in his dreams, along with his lovely elf companion.

This volume was actually very decent

My thoughts on "Welcome to the Welcome To Japan, Ms. Elf!" (日本へようこそエルフさん。) Volume 3

Written by Makishima Suzuki
Art by Yappen
Translated by Hiroya Watanabe

The story:
Kazuhiro, Mariabelle, and their new companion Widra finally decide to go ahead and explore the labyrinth they discovered at the end of volume 1. Once there they fight a lot of monsters and show the other exploration teams that they are actually very overpowered

Meanwhile, on Japan Kazuhiro, Mariabelle and Widra go on a trip to rural Aomori and enjoy a relaxed and very heartwarming reunion with Kazhiro's grandfather.

Enjoyment:
This volume was very good. The amount of time dedicated to each story (the one at the labyrinth and the one in Japan) was perfect it never felt too long or too short. This volume was very relaxing to read and it definitely surpassed my expectations.

The verdict:
This book was relaxing to read. Part of this volume taking place in the Japanese countryside was a very welcomed change and even though it felt very slow and tedious to read sometimes it was actually the best vol so far. 7/10

Yes, yes, we have more character development. More importantly, we have a battle!

As I understand it, one of the biggest rules of writing is to avoid dungeon crawls. They just don seem to work with the audiences. This book proves that it can be done successfully and yield an interesting and fun result.

All I will say is that the bad guy has some real strength.

The vacation with family was perfectly done. Not too much, not too little.

Honestly, I think this book is a bit better than the first two.

Wonderful

This somewhat slow paced book will keep you turning the page through the promise of exploring the mysteries of both another world and of characters that are easy to empathize with. If you want a light hearted character focused book you will get it in the Japan sections of the book. If you want a book of mystery and exploration into a fantasy world you’ll get it in the main characters dream world. If you’re interested in a companionship budding YA romance it’s an underlying theme through the book!

Probably the best volume yet for the series. Was also nice that it was a bit longer. It seemed to strike a good balance for the settings as well.

Expanding the cast has definitely helped things not get monotonous. And we actually got some lore and world building, which wasn't expected, but was a nice addition.
