Boy meets boy, boy kisses boy, boy loses boy. Is it finally time for boy to get boy?
It’s been five years since Chris and I graduated from the conservatory. Five years since I kissed my best friend and sent him running into someone else’s arms. Now Chris is back, and he wants a do-over. But that means opening myself up to being hurt again. And I’m not sure I can take it if Chris walks away from me this time.
Regina Kyle knew she was destined to be an author when she won a writing contest at age ten with a touching tale about a squirrel and a nut pie. By day, she writes dry legal briefs, representing the state in criminal appeals. At night, she writes steamy romance with heart and humor.
A lover of all things theatrical, Regina lives on the Connecticut coast with her husband, teenaged daughter and two melodramatic cats. When she’s not writing, she’s most likely singing, reading, cooking or watching bad reality television.
Forgettable plot, a short read, maybe relatable, but there's no spark or spank or what we call in our dialect the "kilig factor". Maybe I will not play it again...
2.5 stars. Quickie review: I listened to this book on audio on the Read Me romance podcast. This MM story was actually pretty good, but the audio was one of the worst I've ever heard. This is a dual narration. One of the narrators spoke with an odd, choppy cadence constant pausing in unnecessary spots. He made the voice of the other hero sound like Kermit the Frog. The other narrator sounded too feminine and made the other hero sound like a girl. I just did not like the narrators at all. They sounded very amateur. While the story was not bad, I never felt a love between the heroes, just a physical attraction. All in all, this was not my favorite audiobook.
Five years since they have seen each other, when Chris ran from David after a kiss. Now, David, 27, is a piano player, and Chris walks in and requests "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca, the movie, when Rick asks the piano player to "play it again."
Memories unfold, old times, and Chris is there to apologize, and explain he's divorced. He's come for David to make things right. Romantic, exciting, sentimental and full of anticipation. We see them rekindle the old flame. A terrific short story. ENJOY !
As a self diagnosed hopeless romantic, second chances are the cure all for what ails you. Play It Again can absolutely be read as a standalone. This quick and "over too soon for my romantic heart" story is just the kind of pick me up HEA addicts need. A boost to keep your spirits high before you can get you next fix.
Chris and David make my heart soar. Love always wins in my heart.
I enjoyed this one a lot; I really enjoy second chance romances. It was definitely sexy, more so than other m-m books I've read. The narration was only ok for me, as one of the narrators gave one character a very annoying, weird voice for me. But otherwise, it was good narration.
I loved this story of David and Chris. I first read about them in The Billionaire in Her Bed and wanted to know more! Regina Kyle came thru! I read this as a Kindle ebook! I have enjoyed all of Regina's books!💖
Listened to this on the RMR podcast. The story was really good!! The narration wasn’t that great though. I’m excited to read it when the ebook comes out just to get the full feels from the story.
Loved this book. Chris and David have a second chance at love when Chris comes back after years of being away. It was fast paced, super steamy and loved the guys.
I liked this MM second change romance ok...but unfortunately for me one of the narrators voice, when voicing the other guy, kept pulling me out of the story. As a result, I found I couldn’t completely “buy into” the guys connection—let alone get all the “feels” at their reconnection.
The narrators!! UGH. The one male doing an impression of the other just sounds so awful - like he's trying to talk around an impending burp, or talking like a caveman all fragmented and choppy. I couldn't get past the narrators and how awful they were. The content was fine - not my cup of tea, however. This RMR podcast was just not for me.
From Read me Romance. story 3 stars. Performance - 1 star. The narrators were awful!! Their reading voices were fine but anytime they spoke a character voice I cringed. I've never heard either of them before and never want to again.
I wanted to DNF when the characters got a little too raunchy for my liking in the back of a cab (as if the cab driver wants to SEE or HEAR anyone moaning in their backseat.)
I DEFINITELY DNF'd when I read the phrase "Holy Mandingo." When MC1 finds out MC2 has a big dick.
Ms. Kyle, what the fuck? How did no one from writing to editing to publishing not think to take something so incredibly problematic and racist???
Title: Play It Again Author: Regina Kyle Format: Audio Narrators: Brad King and Maxx Power Genre: Romance M/M, Second Chance, sports (dance - ballet) Standalone: yes Part of a Series: Same world of Billionaire in her Bed and Nanny for the Reclusive Billionaire POV: David and Chris Steam Level: slow burn to steamy 3/5
I listened to this book on the Read Me Romance podcast. I’m of mixed opinion about it. Skipping over the characters having the most stereotypical jobs (musician and ballet dancer), date (a musical) and Chris’s outfit for said date, the story was fun. I enjoy second chance romance as a whole and Regina Kyle did an excellent job of portraying the feelings of hurt and betrayal along with Chris redeeming himself and regaining David’s trust. My biggest complaint is actually the narration. The narrator for David was a bit whiny and his portrayal of Chris made me want to yell at him to blow his nose or something. It was like William Shatner with a cold with odd pauses and emphasizes. I almost skipped this one just because of that. The narrator for Chris was a little better, but not much, with his weird pauses. I'm giving this 3 stars because I liked the premise of this story (despite the stereotypes). I would have given this 4 stars if the narration was better.
Though it was quite short, it was the perfect balance of cute, emotional and sexy. Almost half the story is about their desire for each other and their first time together. The rest explains their past, develops their reunion, until a sweet and romantic epilogue.
The characters were well developped, as well as their inner conflicts and personal fears. In only a handful of chapters, you really get them and understand their struggles.
It was definitely a delicious and sexy MM romance.

I loved the story between Chris and David. The plot was basic and easy to following. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout. The chemistry was there between the characters; however, it wasn't anything really amazing. Chris and David were easily relatable and were developed. The ending was hurried and left me wanting. I didn't think the narrators were a good choice. I think different narrators could have made this a better audio. Voices were a little dry and not soothing.
I voluntarily listened and reviewed this audiobook on the Read Me Romance Podcast.
I usually love MM books and while the plot was cute it was filled with cliche and even cringe worthy sayings like- guy goo? 😝 Also, I know the author has no control over this, but the narration was awful. One narrator constently broke up his speach patterns for one of the guys. At first I thought it was because the guy was extremely nervous about asking the other one out but soon learned it was just the way he was doing his voice.
This book was hot, steamy and amazing. I was a little afraid of how the sex between MM would be in this book as the one Male had only ever has sex with women. Regina Kyle handled the sex scene perfectly between the two. What I disliked was the narrators voice who played the pianist.

Story was ok. Second chance at romance between old college friends. The audio? Was not a fan of either of the narrators. Would not give this another listen unfortunately. Listened to on Read Me Romance podcast.
I listened to the audiobook and didn't love the voices. Sorrrrry!!! I couldn't concentrate because one of them sounded like Jimmy Fallon impersonating someone else. LOL!! SO SORRY!
