Orchestrated Murder

Rate this book
A secret. A promise. A cold-blooded murder no one could foresee. The orchestra is coming to town, and Brenda Sheffield’s Victorian mansion will soon play host to some of the world’s most revered musicians. It’s a huge opportunity for the small community of Sweetfern Harbor, and Brenda’s beloved B&B. Every detail must be perfect.

But for all Brenda’s scrupulous planning, the most dramatic performances occur offstage and away from the bright lights and scrutiny. Romantic intrigues and bitter betrayals plague the group, often revolving around the enigmatic flutist headlining the tour, Charlotte De Grey.

Tensions culminate in an act so foul it leaves the entire community quaking. But if Brenda and her husband Detective Mac Rivers are to restore peace and ensure justice is served, they will have to dig deep into the twisted motives and dangerous secrets of the guests living under their roof.

To the delight of everyone, the famous Linz Orchestra will be coming to stay at the Sheffield Bed & Breakfast in the small town of Sweetfern Harbor. But apparently they have brought along their romantic intrigues and bitter betrayals to cast a pall on the excitement. At the intermission that evening, Charlotte de Grey, an up-and-coming flutist whose first solo had been perfect, asked Andy for a glass of lemonade. Then she asked if he could get her a small petit four while she sipped at a cup of green tea before the performance resumed.

As the orchestra came back on stage and Charlotte is performing her second solo, she collapses with convulsions and dies from poison in front of everyone! In the investigation, it is discovered she was also pregnant at the time of her death. Having had many relationships with various members of the orchestra, both single and married, one of whom unexpectedly had his wife with him, it may be difficult to narrow down which of the possible suspects might have murdered her!

This mystery had a good story line. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, it took another twist and I wasn’t sure again. Great characters and intriguing story kept the reader guessing. Grab your copy and enjoy!

Detective Mac and Brenda Rivers are expecting the world famous Linz Orchestra to their Sheffield Bed and Breakfast for a concert scheduled by their friend, William Pendleton.George Carpenter, the violinist and his wife, Judith, have put together an exceptional orchestra. The conductor is Colin Hughes. Charlotte de Gray, a world renowned flutist is having an affair with George and her personal assistant, Andy Fuller. This is the first trip Judith has made with the troupe just so she can keep eyes on George. Oliver Lister plays te trombones and Dinah Ford plays the harp.
The practices were wonderful. Guests were coming from far and wide. The orchestra had free time to look around Sweetfern Harbor and enjoy themselves. After Charlotte's first solo she falls to the stage frothing at the mouth and having seizures. Within seconds she is dead. There are many suspects when it is determined that she was poisoned.
This is another great story by Wendy Meadows. There are several twists and turns that will keep you guessing. I received an advanced copy. This is my honest review.

Everyone was excited to hear that William got the Linz Orchestra to come play in town. Especially Brenda because it all was going to take place at Sheffield's. Some really famous and big names are in the group. William gave Brenda a profile on each person so they knew what to expect and how to serve them all. Of course there were rumors floating around about romance drama and secrets within the company. They seem to center around their star flutist Charlotte De Grey. Which had the other women and men jealous.
Everything was going well until someone was murdered in a way the was so shocking in front of everyone.
Now it's up to Brenda and Mac to find out the motive and make sure justice is served in a big way.
This was a good quick read. I admit it didn't have the usual intrigue and suspense that I'm used to reading from this series. Nothing really stood out for me. It just seemed typical.

Orchestrated Murder is another Sweetfern Harbor Mystery series by Wendy Meadows, is an enjoyable read. It has a great blending of murder and suspense with a touch humor. It is easy to jump right into the story and get to know these well developed characters. Trying to figure out who the murderer is, along with the intrigue and suspense make this a good entertaining mystery.

The famous Linz Orchestra is vacationing and performing at Sweetfern Harbor. The most famous of the players staying at the Sheffield Bed and Breakfast and Brenda and her crew have their hands full with hosting these elite musicians.

When one of the musicians dies, Brenda and Mac start trying to tie clues together to find out who would want to kill a world famous muscian.

Brenda and Mac, along with her team of staff at the Bed and Breakfast host a number of members of an Orchestra that Phyllis'; husband William was able to get to come to the town.

The young flutist seems to have a number of ex-lovers as members of the Orchestra along with a couple of current ones. One of the member being in love with Charlotte is 30 years her senior and one is someone of her age. Who does she want to continue a relationship with? Read this enjoyable book to learn more about the Orchestra members and who dies and who the killer is.

The famous Linz Orchestra to Sweetfern Harbor and the most famous players are staying at the Sheffield Bed and Breakfast. As per usual, all the guests are mostly friendly, but there is one that stands out...Judith Carpenter. She rarely travels with her husband, George, but is coming with him on this trip. Everything is going pretty well until opening night. When the intermission is over and Charolette de Grey is scheduled for her solo, she dies in front of everyone. Who would want to kill this famous flute killer? You will have to read the book to find out the who and the why. I enjoyed this book, as all of them in this series. This was a good story with lots of interesting characters. The bad guy was fairly obvious but that did not detract from the investigation.

Brenda and Max Rivers are avid patrons of the arts and are thrilled when the Linz Orchestra decides to perform in town and the principles stay at the inn. During the big performance Charlotte de Grey, the world renown flutist, collapses and dies. During the investigation they discover she was poisoned and pregnant. Having had relationships with several of the orchestra personnel casts a wide met over who could have murdered her.

I never go wrong with this author as I am a big fan and she has never let me down. This is the 17th of 17 books according to Amazon and that is sad as I love Brenda and the gang solving murders in Sweetfern Harbor. This author also writes books I trust where characters do not behave like animals and have sex on the first date or use foul language. I spent 20 years in the military with a lot of men and I had enough of that (witnessed) to last a lifetime or two. Many thanks to Ms. Meadows for this awesome series.

The Sheffield B&B is getting their most influential guests to date with the famous Linz Orchestra. It seems like a dream come true until the flutist collapse from poison right in the middle of her solo. Without a shortage of suitors around her including a married one whose wife is unexpectedly along this time around, will it be the obvious suspect or someone completely unexpected.

A good cozy in a beautiful setting but not one of my favorite Meadows work.

Who knows what goes on behind the scenes of an orchestra? Affairs, romance, money issues, and what else.

The inn gets to host the orchestra and it's becoming famous flutist. What could go wrong. Right?

Read this fun and easy to read cozy mystery for answers.

This is a wonderful stand alone addition to this series. It is a fast and easy to read book.

It is a coincidence that I usher for a world renown orchestra.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

Look out when the orchestra comes to town!
Getting a load of professional musicians together wreaks havoc at the lovely B&B the orchestra is scheduled to play at. Add to that a flutist who can play the flute impeccably but has no ability to discern appropriate behaviour and you have a recipe for disaster. Filled with angst and jealousy, this story will make a person rethink making rash or foolish decisions. The ending left too many unanswered questions, though, which the author normally never does.

Brenda Sheffield and friends are back in this 17th mystery from Sweetfern Harbor. This time the orchestra has come to town and several members stay at the B & B. Follow Brenda and her friends as they try and solve the murder. This one does have a different ending than the others,, but all in all, it is a great cozy read. The characters a well developed, and one cannot help but fall in love with the quaint little seaside town.

Engaging Murder Mystery!
Brenda, Mac and the entire town of Sweetfern are looking forward to an amazing evening of entertainment from the world famous Linz Orchestra. Unfortunately they get more than what they expected - excellent music but with a murderous finale. Wonderfully written with heartwarming characters, twists, suspense, and intriguing drama. The ending was abrupt and felt a bit unfinished but overall a very entertaining read. Enjoy!

I received an advance copy and am happy to leave my honest review.

A highly acclaimed orchestra is coming to the tiny sweet fern harbor community. Everyone is so excited by what it means to their little town. Brenda will host them at her B&B. Her and the chef are busy making menus and plans. On opening night something horrific happens. This was an adoreable little cozy. The characters are old friends and the plot is filled with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. I love these mysteries.

Another good book in the series, but the ending was just so quick. Things felt unfinished. I love this series, but there could have been so much more added to the story that would have continued the great track it was on.

Knew who would be killed and why at the first of the book.

Makes you wonder how a B$B could stay open when they have so many murders there. So many people working there that they must charge at least $750.00 a night.

I received a free advance review copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily providing my honest review. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I felt that it read like a soap opera. I figured out who "done it" was as soon as the murder was discovered. It was an okay and quick read.

Left hanging

Very frustrating!! What did the note say? I feel like pieces were left out of this book. Is there proof who the father of the baby is? Sorry but this book is not nearly as good as the other books in this series. Very disappointed.
