For all her life, Caina has served as a Ghost of the Empire, one of the Emperor's spies and assassins.
Now the Empire teeters on the precipice of ruin. If Caina cannot forge an alliance among the lords of the Empire, the brutal sorcerers of the Umbarian Order will enslave mankind.
After they have taken their vengeance upon Caina...
Standing over six feet tall, USA Today bestselling author Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair of a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.
He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works. His books have sold over one million copies worldwide.
Another great book.lots of action, many dangerous situations ,good characters and story. This follows right along with the previous books. I sometimes get bothered by the repetition of past actions and current thoughts but since I’m reading the books one after another I don’t need those. Ilona is bothering me as she is so focused on taking the sword to Iramus that she fails to see other problems
Ghost Night book 6. Serious spoilers ahead for the earlier books.
Which is inevitable when the book opens right after the cliff-hanger of the last one, with Caina and Kylon talking with two others in the room with the dead emperor.
His successor will be elected. And one likely candidate is a grave danger because he will make peace with the Umbranian Order -- which, given their evil and sorcery, will be a disaster.
They agree on the spot to ensure an election that will end with victory for the war, pick the candidate then and there, and set about ensuring it. Starting with going to tell him (and protect him) and hiding the emperor's death until then.
It includes an assassination attempt already planned, Ilona doing a dance to distract, a pretext of a hunting party, a larger scale assassination, the deduction that the emperor died, and more.
Caina as always has her hands full. Now she has put an Valerius on the thrown. Her aunt Talmania is on her heels an has delta her a blow. Caina, Kylon, Seb, Ilona, Morgaut, an Sophia are on a ship heading to Istarinmul to give the sword of Yager to the Loremasters for safe keeping. But Talmania isn't done yet she needs to get the dagger before Caina dose. The Empire is fighting the Unbarian Order. If Talmania gets what she wants before Caina dose well all he'll will break lose. Caina fight is it over yet. Great read as always from Mr. Moeller.
Caina encounters yet another setback keeping her from traveling to Iramis to turn the sword of Rasarion Yagar over to the Towers of Lore where her evil aunt Talmania cannot retrieve it. She and her crew are deeply entrenched in insuring their chosen candidate will be the next Emperor.
It's rather amusing that several of her adversaries contemplate why she and Kylon are a couple. As always, Mr. Moeller has created an entertaining tale.
All of Jonathan Moeller’s books are awesome. I love reading them. I realize the time and effort that goes into writing, editing and publishing stories, I just wish there wasn’t so much time between.
Book 6 has the same flaws as the previous books in the series, but overall is a fun read. The MC's still are predictable at times and are repetitive in the telling of events.
