Rate this book
US Air Force Lt. Col. Eagle Tryggvesson got more than she bargained for when she tangled with Navy Rear Admiral Richard Westland over a proposal for an elite Special Forces unit. Eventually losing the battle, Westland swore that she would fail- he would make certain of that. Eagle must fight against discrimination and corruption to put her highly unorthodox team together. She arrives at China Lake Naval Weapons Station to find the beginnings of Westland's sabotage. It would be up to her and the members of her team to beat the deck that had been stacked against them. Her second in command is the handsome and brilliant Maj. D.M. Elliott who falls in love with her despite their difference in rank and the prohibitive chain of command. They must work together to keep their team and their love alive. The team battles terrorists, violent gang members, and their own personal demons along with the frightening bouts of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that haunt many warriors.

This is one of the best books I've read by an author that I hadn't heard of previously. Grabs the reader and never lets go. There is a lot going on in the story but it's easy to read and keep mental track of it. The female protagonist is very likeable. The other characters are men, mostly service men but each with a unique character. They form a team and face things great and small together. They are able to use new science to make their challenges easier to handle. There is a lot of heart to this book.

Great Read!

It reads like you're there. Eagle, the main character is very real. The men she commands are a mixed bag. She utilizes their strenghts beautifully. She commands with smarts, kindness and respect for them. The story line is good : interesting and informative. The action has reality. I've ordered the next two in the series
& that's unusual for me. The. Ok has to be really good.

I absolutely enjoyed this book, it was one that I wish would have lasted longer. The story line was good and the characters seemed like something that fit right in with todays thinking. I anxiously followed the characters in the book with interest in what was happening to them as the story continued, I recommend this book and author to everyone.
