Nightmares of that day plague me and I’ve lost more than just my position as Admiral, but my “girlfriend” too. I can’t remember when I could trust a woman as far as I could throw her, not even my own mother. Heather is different. She takes my insults and only gives smiles in return. She’s too good for me, but I can’t deny that with every passing day, I grow more fond of her.
Heather Summers
I am a sucker for men who need my help. Particularly a man named Aaron who is hotter than hell and has an attitude to match. He’s no match for me though. I can see him breaking down under my kindness, but I’ve heard that he has an issue with women my size.
This was book 3 of a series and Aaron had previously shown he was a first class shallow a**hole to men and women alike in books 1 & 2. I found myself half hoping he got his just desserts in this book, but I found a soft spot in my heart for Aaron after the first chapter. It took a traumatic event of losing his men in an attack to begin the journey of healing his inner demons and righting past wrongs to people around him. Heather is a waitress that Aaron would hassle for various reasons... the main reason being her weight. And it wasn’t just her. He would verbally spar with other men and women in the first two books ... giving the men grief about being with a plus size woman, and to the women themselves for being bigger than the stick thin women he chose to chase. What a jerk! Somehow despite Aaron’s words, Heather saw beyond his words and overall attitude and believed there was a man inside that was better than the words and behavior he showed her. Despite being angry with Aaron’s character flaws, it was so satisfying to see him rescue Heather from a physical attack and then sweep her out of town for a few days of romance. The overall story was short and sweet and oh so satisfying. Even though it was a quick read, I didn’t feel rushed through the story itself. OX to you Aaron... that Heather is a lucky girl!
When I saw this book was about Aaron who was the antagonist in the first two books, I was dubious about him with a BBW. A leopard doesn't change his spots that easily. Well I've been proven wrong. Autumn Summer wrote a feasible story both believable and honest. I really had doubts when straight this, as a BBW myself my walls were up that this wasn't going to be any good. It was great really! And so worth it. Thank you Autumn. All books in this series so far have been lovely but you have really made an exception with this one. So glad I went with it, when I nearly didn't read it.
I must admit I was reluctant to read this book. In case you haven’t read the first two books (which you should btw), I will be vague and only say that Aaron was a tough person to like. I couldn’t imagine wanting to read a romance with a jerk of a hero. But I’m so glad I did. Heather, the heroine, is the right kind of woman to help Aaron become a decent man. It was a very sweet romance, ending with a nice bit of steam.
I thoroughly have enjoyed reading this read. At first I really didn't want to read about Aaron story since he was such a jerk lol Im glad I read this one. Aaron being a jerk at the beginning just needed acceptance. Heather with her gentleness even when people were so harsh is definitely a inspiration. This was a easy flow read I read in one sitting. I felt as I knew each character. I highly recommend this read.
Aaron has been through a horrible ordeal. When his life changed due to his experiences changing him he deals with it horribly. He takes it out on the waitress he sees where he gets his meals, Heather. She's so kind, patient and always has a kind word, smile or touch for him. When he finally gets the nerve to ask her out he winds up saving her. Can he really show her his true intentions? Will she accept him faults and all?
Aaron is bitter after an accident that cost his sub crew their lives through not fault of his and he took it out on sweet and caring waitress, Heather. Heather saw Aaron's pain and always just gave him a smile. When Aaron finally starts to forgive himself he really sees Heather for the wonderful woman she is. This is a really sweet and emotional story.
It's a shame the story was so short because the idea really captured my imagination. Unfortunately the length made it nearly impossible to develop any plot and although the characters were intriguing, they left a lot of questions that simply weren't answered. I gave an extra star because I love broken heros who can only be saved by the love of that special woman.
Loved how this book ended the series. Not so much, that there is no way you couldn't help but feel the pain of his men lost at sea. Very sad situation. For him to find love with a curvy women was just what he needed.
Shielding His Curvy Girl(Baby Seal and BBW Romance Series Book 3)
Another wonderful and we'll written book, each book talks about a Navy seal who falls for a curvy wonderful woman who changes their lives for the better.
This is definitely a short and sweet romance with an HEA. Can't really get too much into what all I liked about this story without spoiling it for the next reader. Would recommend this for a short, sweet read.
Aaron has been a jerk from the very beginning and it took a tragic event to make him change his way. If was refreshing to see him for a curvy girl after the way he treated Mav's girl. This book is a great short read.
I didn't want to read this book because Aaron was such a jerk but now I'm glad I did. This book was so GOOD. Aaron grow up and found the love of his life.
Blah. He called every woman over a size two a “whale” and/or a “fatty” in all three books of the series, including the female MC of this book!, and he got a HEA.
I was not a fan of this book and I am not going to waste my time doing an in depth review. Needless to say, I did not like Aaron. He has always been disgusted by curvy plus size women and chosen to date women who are rail thin. Ok fine, to each their own and I am a firm believer that men and women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes ❤️ but it gets worse than that, he would go out of his way to insult random women if he considered them to be too large and even go after men about their choices in partner if he saw anyone with a curvy woman. Talk about disgusting, who the hell did he think he is. I am surprised he didn't get his ass absolutely handed to him...often! Fuck, try coming after me like that and I would punch him right in the face or balls, tough choice, depends how tall he is since I am short, balls might be easier. Plus if I hit him in the balls first then he would be on his knees and I could reach his face 😈 ok sidetracked. Anyhow, he supposedly saw the error of his ways, yada yada and rescued Heather our cury heroine and they lived HEA. Not realistic at all to me, that just because Heather was super kind and put up with his bullshit that he suddenly changed his whole character and outlook. Nope, BYE!

While I like the story of redemption for Aaron, I have a major issue with the military aspect of the story. If you're going to write a story with a Navy man, then know a little how the Navy works or have someone proof it who does. You don't get to step-down from being an admiral and stay in the Navy.. can you say dereliction of duty? Pirates took out a Navy vessel? Not likely.
