Emelia Wells is a wealthy merchant's daughter and hosting social events is what she loves the most. When her childhood friend asks her to lift his brother's spirits by finding him a wife, she finds the challenge quite intriguing. Little does she know, though, that by getting involved in love games, she could have her own heart fooled. Will she ever admit that the man she is trying to uplift might be the one who makes her own heart fly? Or will she back down due to the overwhelming situation she and her friend have fallen into?
Montgomery Shaw has recently lost his beloved father and has experienced unbearable pain and loss. His father inspired him to study medicine and now he has become a real gentleman, wishing to offer to others. Even though he is determined to never fall in love, reality proves him wrong. But is he ready to chase the love he has denied all this time or will his fear of heartbreak make him refuse happiness?
Montgomery does want love despite his losses, but if he is not willing to open up, he will lose the love of his life. Emelia has never felt such an affection for any man and doesn't know how to express herself, but this one may get away if she doesn't speak up. Can they all sort out this confusion and find their perfect matches by each other's side?
Bridget Barton was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.
She has studied English Literature in college and after a brief passage in journalism as a newspaper writer, she stirred her career to what she always loved: becoming an author!
She has always been intrigued by rascals, vagabonds, dukes and rogues, so having the chance to write stories about them is a wish come true for her!
Bridget is married to her own prince charming and is the proud mother of two daughters (and three adorable kittens) and soon to be a grandma!
She is a hopeless romantic who devours romance literature and of course enjoys writing love stories of her own.
When she is not writing, Bridget is relaxing by cooking for her lovely husband, exercising and listening to soft music.
Regency Romance💕 In this book, two brothers grow up with two neighboring sisters for playmates. The families are wealthy💰 landed gentry. The older brother, Montgomery🐺🚑, is much older than Emelia💃💋, the oldest girl, and he goes off to college when she is still playing childhood games with his younger brother, Brody🐶, and the younger sister Hannah🐇. Brody🐶 and Emelia💃💋 are still best friends, even though they are grown up now, and Brody is something of a Dandy🐶.
Emelia💃💋 is the hostess without the mostest! She loves to give parties🎉, but something always goes wrong. It's become her unwanted trademark! Some of the mishaps are pretty funny.
Brody🐶 comes to Emelia💃💋 and asks her to give some parties and invite some eligible young women💃💃💃 in order to help Montgomery🐺🚑 find a wife👰. Like he really needs or wants one!
Montgomery🐺🚑 is still stuck feeling guilty for not saving their father from an apoplectic fit( stroke or heart attack) that finally killed him. He blames himself for not arriving home in time, even though medicine was not advanced enough at the time to treat heart disease.
Brody🐶 wants to get Montgomery🐺🚑 interested in Hannah, but we all know this is going to BACKFIRE on him!
ARC Received from Author Barton📚 via Amazon Free. Opinions Expressed here are entirely my own.
There are some recently invented modern words in the book, but I didn't mind too much, since there weren't a lot of them. This is a fun book, with one of Emelia's party mishaps leading to her becoming well reacquainted with Montgomery🐺🚑!
ONE TANTALIZING JOURNEY!!! Unbelievable! Bridget loads all the pleasure and spice in this imaginative and thrilling ride, through such ups and downs that pack a punch and leaves you reeling. A churning vortex chocked full of unexpected events, blasting our emotions into play front and center. Presenting the utmost skill and tenacity, weaving vivid and colorful scenes so intricately and precise, presenting the Regency Era in a refreshing new light as you've never before experienced. The drama, intrigue, misunderstandings, desire, turmoil, distress and tension soars, throwing this gem into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, blowing it into a tailspin with a shocking culmination, blasting it to life brilliantly. Carefully treading through the trials and tribulations, testing our characters in ways they could never anticipate. The chemistry and attraction builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable connection and amplifying affections, melding this baby together flawlessly. The characters are authentic and genuine with qualities and traits that blend into realistically, amazing personalities. Remarkable job Bridget, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
Wonderful story with great characters. I only wish it had a little more romance. The wells sisters and the shaws have known each other since childhood as their estates bordered each other. Brody Shaw has been close confident with Emilia for years and Montgomery Shaw was always the older and more serious brother. Hannah wells was the quiet and shy sister who has been in love with Brody Shaw for years. Anyway mis-understanding happen and in the end Brody Shaw Marries Hannah Wells and Montgomery Shaw Marries Emilia Wells and all one happy family. Would highly recommend just would like to have a little romance .
This is my favorite from this author because I loved the medical aspect about it. Although the ton definitely took quite a backseat, the societal culture was very much present. I’m partial to medical situations and stories and I was most impressed with how the medical field was somewhat congruent with the time period. Although I had an impression that this was a few years or even several years early from Florence Nightingale, the forward attitude of female in the medical field was great. The relationships were nice and dramatic.
A Lady's Perfect Match is a clean and sweet stand-alone novel by Bridget Barton. It has a pretty simple character-driven plot with interesting and likable personalities.
The two Wells sisters and the two Shaw brothers are not only neighbors, but also childhood friends. What happens between the four of them is a study in sibling trust, honesty within friendships, sad misunderstandings and “of course” revelations. Granted, the ending is predictably, but it is also tender. The ending also includes both an epilogue and extended epilogue.
Two sisters and two brothers who have spent their entire lives together experience some growing pains. The oldest sister and the younger brother have always been best friends, to the point neighbors have thought them to marry. One night at a ball changes everything. They soon realize they all have feelings for one’s sibling but are to scared to vocalize them. Will it be too late for one couple though?
This is not a dramatic story nor is there any action or dangerous adventures. It is a straight forward romance between two sisters and two brothers. It was refreshing that the personalities of the characters were understandable and relatable. When Brody and Emilia cooked up a crazy scheme to be matchmaker to Emilia's younger sister Hannah and Brody's eldest brother Montgomery. It is comical that things went topsy turvy. An enjoyable read.
Bridget Barton’s A Lady's Perfect Match is yet another perfect historical Regency Period romance by this talented author. What’s really neat about this book (other than the near-perfect romance of Emilia and Montgomery) is how this tale demonstrates that you don’t need a Duke - or even a member of the ton - to get everything you want (yes, including Period authenticity) in a Regency romance. Definitely recommended.
THIS BOOK VEXED ME BECAUSE IT WASN'T EVEN FOCUSED ON THE MCs ROMANCE! THEY BARELY INTERACTED AT ALL FOR A PROPER COURTSHIP, I HATED HOW WE KEEP READING THE HEROINE AND THE HERO'S BROTHER'S CONVERSATIONS INSTEAD OF THE HEROINE AND THE HERO!! Something is absolutely wrong here. The idea has potential but alas it failed where it counts...the main characters weren't even in the limelight, how is this even the story?!
Oh WOW!! What a beautiful journey of love. Wonderful characters, and a beautifully crafted story. I love your books are this is my new favorite. Oh goodness it’s absolutely entertaining and interesting as well as inspiring. I love the extended epilogue which brings the story to a beautiful happy ending. I LOVE IT! Definitely a must read and highly recommended.
Because I read dozens of Regency novels each year, I am looking for something extra in the story besides a boy-chases-girl-until-she-catches-him story. Unfortunately, that's about all there is in this story, even though it takes almost 400 pages to get to the end. The characters were uninspiring, and the plot was familiar. It was readable, but not great. I thought Montgomery's plan to open a medical school in the country was ridiculous.
Star crossed lovers? Mixed up matches? Best friends? Can Brody and Emmy find true love? What about Dr. Shaw and Hannah? Is there happiness for them? Everything goes wrong when Emmy hosts parties. Is there a mystery there? Find out in this enchanting, delightful book! I highly recommend it ! Happy Reading!
I really enjoy this authors books, but this one was better than most. Great witty characters that made the dialogue fast paced, but with great detail to the environment, geography and other characters. Always HEA but the journey there is always exciting from Ms. Barton. Highly recommended.👍
I have no patience for bad editing. There is no excuse for an established author putting out a book full of such blatant mistakes. The characters; both the sister, Hannah, and Montgomery needed a swift kick to the rear. Emelie should have stood up for herself, not sniveled and take blame for something so ridiculous.
A beautiful story of two family’s that had grown up together. Two sisters from one family and two brothers from the neighbouring property. This story is well written and characters are fantastic.Matchmaking of one sister to a brother that went sideways and each couple fell for the other.Great extended Epilogue to round off this beautiful story.
Bridget Barton is one of my favorite authors and I enjoyed this book immensely. While it was very clear who and what was mostly likely going to happen, the mistakes and miscommunications were both amusing and endearing.
Fantastic! A story that will kept reading until the end... Wonderful characters and plots... Two systers and two brothers... so different... drama... troubles... surprising moments and fun... love... A sweet story for all...
This is about friendship most of all. Childhood friendships, misconceptions, and sibling love.
Good dialogue and characters. It god a bit annoying toward the end when I thought they should figure out the misconceptions already. But it was a short annoyances.
“A Lady's Perfect Match” by Bridget Barton A sweet clean historical Regency romance with the plenty of heart-aches and mis-understandings to keep you turning the pages. I was gifted an ARC of the story by the author with the hopes that I would post a review. This is a worthy read.
I enjoyed this story. It is well written, with good character development. I liked the characters. I didn't like the point when there was a lack of good communication between the 4 main characters, though I knew it was going to be a happily ever after. It is a clean sweet love story.
It took me awhile to get to understand what this book was about. I was getting bored with the story line. The title wasn't what I thought but would be.
