Starving is a 21-day devotion centered on pursuing Jesus through the discipline of fasting. The title can be a bit jarring for some who assume you are jumping into a 21-day fast with no food. Strickland instead guides people into the process of heart preparation and making space for God through various Christian disciplines. Fasting from food is ultimately encouraged, but in a shortened season of three days. Prior to this, fasts from sugar and junk food, the media, and even lessening the number of meals on has in a day are considered. On top of this, lots of other positive practices are modeled and encouraged.

Having practiced fasting before, I appreciate how much Stickland daily focuses on making space for Jesus and his work in your life. It was a worthwhile study and practice that I will seek to use with others.
