Metal Angel (Rings of the Inconquo, #3)

Rate this book
Every family has history, but hers might be the end of the world as we know it…

Ibukin “Ibby” Bashir is Inconquo, an inheritor of ancient power and with it an unending duty to stand against the darkness. She can bend and shape metal to her will, but she is still only human, she feels and bleeds. A fragile guardian, still she stands.

Uncovered after thousands of years, the dark foundations that make her who and what she is begin to rise again. The progenitor, the very first of her bloodline, stirs fitfully––Ninurta, Founder of Kalhu, Hunter before the Gods, Warrior without Match. If he has his way, he will reshape the world with iron, fire, and blood.

Ibby must stop his awakening, and though her new allies see that she won’t stand alone, it’s going to be an uphill battle.

Her mentor stolen away and her friends falling around her, Ibby knows too well what she faces. Merciless conspiracies, ancient horrors, treacheries old and new, all are arraigned against a young woman who only wants to see her broken family safe. But with grit, pluck, and a will of iron she is going to save the world, or die trying.

It’s not the path she might have chosen, but what can she do? It is the family business.

Well, this was… something different. I have read everything A.L. Knorr has published and I love the universes she created, the direction she takes her characters and, most especially, her writing. Because of this, I can easily tell when a book is a collaboration. And in the case of this series (Rings of the Inconquo), I can easily see where Mr. Schneider’s talents come into view. While the beginning of the series (book 1 – Born of Metal) is more Ms. Knorr, the middle book (Metal Guardian) is split even and this last book (Metal Angel) is more Mr. Schneider.

I think I was a tiny tiiiiiny bit disappointed by this – I considered giving it a 4 star review instead of a full 5 stars. But this is simply because of my preference. Mr. Schneider has his own style – more action-oriented, his style fits with the military-like scenes that the main character, Ibby, has to face. Unlike Ms. Knorr’s other series in this universe, Ibby’s story is definitely more filled with action, battles and literally defeating evil and stopping an apocalypse. What I missed, between all the action scenes, is a bit more focus on descriptions and feelings. There were a couple relationship-centric moments where I went “wait, that’s it? Those are all the comments and feelings!?”. And there were moments when I wondered how something/someone/some place looked like, in more detail. But I honestly believe this was my own preference, because I haven’t had the mood for a military-style, action-filled book in years (mostly since I’ve become a mother, apparently having a child drastically changes your preferences).

But overall, the book was worth the read. I loved finding out what Ibby’s life was like before the main Elemental Origins series, and this trilogy takes us up right to that moment. It definitely helped set the background and get to know more about the Elemental Universe.

With this last book in this amazing series we literally hit the ground running and we don’t stop! Well written we rejoin Ibby as she faces down Ninurta and I have to say it’s one hell of a rollercoaster ride on this journey! I love the storyline, I love the characters and I have to say this reaches a satisfying conclusion and is a trilogy I would totally recommend!

Not written by AL Knorr!

So after I finally finished this series, I figured out why it was not as enjoyable to read as other AL Knorr books and the title to my review says it all.

First I should point out why it was not as enjoyable. I found myself constantly skimming pages of overly descriptive scenes that contributed very little to the story line and overall, made the books dull and slow. It was so unlike other AL Knorr books I had read in the past but I plowed on to the 2nd and 3rd books, hoping for some improvement. Nope...got worse. Second, the ending left tons of loose threads and was basically anticlimactic. Then I read the stuff at the VERY end of the book and figured out it wasn't written by AL Knorr at alI! That explains everything! Overall, I feel duped and cheated and wish I had just stopped reading after the first book. I don't even leave reviews as I read a new book every 1-2 days but this time, I just had to leave one.

The third installment of the Rings of the Inconquo series starts off with a bang and doesn't slow down until you get to the end. Ibby has her work cut out for her. To save the world she has to face down a "God" who is planning to rule the world by decimating it first. Is she strong enough to destroy him before he put his plan in to motion? You will have to read to find out. This book is jam packed with action, adventure, magic, mystery, legend, and secret organizations. It also connects us to how Ibby meets up with another Elemental in Born of Air.
A.L. Knorr has a wonderful way of weaving her world of supernaturals together in her stories. This series is no exception. You will love this series. If you have read any of her other books, you must read this series as well. If you have not read any of her other books, go ahead and start with this series. You will be hooked. Not only are they filled with strong female characters, but also endless adventure and vivid imagery.

This third and last book of this series starts off with a bang (literally) and doesn’t slow down much from there. It was a nail biting experience. One that deserves great accolades to the authors from we the readers. This is very well written. Loved all the characters good and bad as what would a great story be without the bad guys? The high intensity action packed scenes are very well described leaving not much wiggle room for a break or breath. But Ibby’s story is not done yet. I am very excited that she will be joining Petra in her next adventure as an archeologist. I will be waiting with bated breath until I get my hands on that one!

A.L. Knorr and A.D. Schneider are back with the third and final book in their superb Rings of the Inconquo series, and the book, Metal Angel, is truly fabulous. This is urban fantasy (my favorite genre) adventure at its best. Merciless conspiracies, ancient horrors, and treacheries old and new, Ibukin “Ibby” Bashir has a huge amount to overcome but it is done in perfect style that’s wonderfully enjoyable. I frankly did not see how this series could possibly match the Elemental Origins series (highly recommended, by the way) from which it was spun off, but somehow it achieved just that - and there’s no higher recommendation.

A well written ending to the series. Ibby has been through a lot. Her friends and family are hurt, but she keeps fighting because she truly believes in her job as a protector. Marcus was interesting; he truly loves Ibby and supports her. This is a fast paced read with twists and turns to reach the ending. Ninurta does not want to give up, keeping Ibby on her toes.. I love how the ending ties into Born of Air. You have to read the story and see how Ibby wins. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was the last book in this series of three books. The ending shows Ibby’s connection to the Born of Air book. Abby’s books are marvelous and full of adventure. This one is no different. Ibby faces the potential end of humanity in this book. Her friends and family have been hurt while Ibby has done what she feels she must to be a protector. But she is saddened that those she loves is being hurt in the process.

Perseverance

Ibby is nothing if not determined, strong, and a guardian. She comes out fighting, won’t back down, won’t give on and take the “easy” path of murdering all who stand against her; but perseveres doing what she believes is right. And excellent ending to the trilogy, and I enjoyed reading it very much.

I really enjoyed this end to the trilogy! Ibby is one of my favorites, and it was really interesting to see where her power came from and have her come into her own. Also, Marcus! I also like the clear lead-in to more in the world, so it's nice knowing she's not done and may show up somewhere else. Really enjoyed this!

I received a copy from the publisher but these are my honest opinions.

This was a truly fantastic finale to this metal series! I loved the family situation, found and blood. The frenemies that weren't quite human and the egyptian style metal god was truly an enjoyable story. I could not have predicted how everything was going to turn out and i loved every word of it!

A fantastic end to this trilogy!

As ever, Abby, you have created a fast paced action adventure with a few twists and turns along the way to the finale. Wonderful characters and descriptions bring the whole story to life. I can't wait to read more "Elementals" stories

This was an amazing end to this particular series and it tied in to the rest of the books beautifully. Ibby is amazing and her moral strength is something we should all strive for. She manages to do good while still taking care of business. Lots of action and great tying things together.

Not as fond of the metal series as the other elementals

This series was too demonic for me. I wanted to finish it since I already bought them all. I did like Ibby as a character, especially her drive to be a guardian.

Ibby is an amazing character and her story has been exciting to follow. I am so happy with her trilogy ending and the epilogue was a perfect tie-in. Anything Knorr writes and has performed in audio is an enjoyable listen.

Different kind of read!

Enjoyed the series very much the characters were instering. Had trouble with some of the words, knowing what they were and ment. Also some of the miss spelled words drove me crazy and I'm not a great speller. All, in all a book.

In this epic conclusion to Ibukin's story, Ibby faces not only the demons and demigods trying to kill 40% of the world's population, but personal demons as well. With both her Uncle and best friend left injured after Sark's rash actions, Ibby is left without a sounding board, and struggles to find the best way of accomplishing her goal - stopping the apocalypse. With Marcus at her side, Ibby battles to save the world. When an unlikely ally appears, Ibby must take a chance that could end up being a suicide mission. An amazing ending to this story, and a wonderful introduction to Ibby as she takes on her next assignment helping Petra to find herself in Born of Air.
