Instant Word Power

Rate this book
The rapid vocabulary builder created by Norman Lewis, the bestselling author of over 25 books, is a foolproof method of increasing your vocabulary. Without words you cannot communicate, and without communication you cannot survive. This method is the same method you used in early childhood—when you were one year old or younger, you listened. You practiced. You made errors and corrected them. Instant Word Power aims to establish for you those conditions of early childhood, a time when you learned hundreds, even thousands, of new words every year. You learn by saying words. Nothing puts you so quickly at ease, even with a new word, as hearing it over and over again in your own voice. You learn by spelling words. To conquer the spelling of an new word and thus feel as comfortable with it in your writing as in your speech, learn to look at it, critically noting any peculiarities that are caused by its etymology, the derivation of English words from Greek and Latin roots, prefixes and suffixes. In this book you will learn these roots, prefixes, and suffixes to unlock the meanings of thousands of words. Words are symbols of knowledge, the keys to accurate thinking. Knowledge is gained largely through words.

Instant Word Power will help you speak and write with more confidence. It will help you read more effectively and efficiently and, as a result, develop social contacts and increase your earning power.

Remember, the only permanent, foolproof method of increasing your vocabulary involves PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.
