Freud came along and said "Let's study sick people in therapy." Behaviorists came along and said "Let's study animals in labs and average people." Maslow came along and said "Let's study healthy people and see what we can learn from them about the human potential for good and the best way to live." What a novel concept!
Oke, this is a great book I've ever read. Gak nyesel pinjam lama di perpustakaan GKB IV.
Maslow benar-benar menceritakan bagaimana cara menjadi manusia sehat seutuhnya.
Thorough overview of Abraham Maslow's work. Helps the novice greatly. Ends with Maslow's seminal article: 'A theory of human motivation' which nicely summarises his key ideas without going into the methodological detail
The over-arching point that I take away is one of Maslow's main tenets: that the psychologist should first study mental health. However, so much of psychology is devoted to the study of mental illness, which is a practical enough application, but Maslow seems to imply that when we understand the norm, we can help those outside come into the normal state of being. There are chapters that I skipped which cover his time studying industrial management.
Very good book i liked it, the way the practical examples of success of maslows theory are provided. Go-to for those who wanna see maslows theory in praxis.
