She loved him once. He embarrassed her in front of the whole town. Can she forgive him and fall in love again? Following the fiasco of her cheating fiancé, Julia Dayton returns home to Huron Cove to run her family’s book store and start life over again. The last thing she needs is a man getting in the way, especially when it’s new neighbor and carpenter Alex Armstrong, her ex-boyfriend who once embarrassed her in front of the whole town. On the relationship rebound, the handsome Alex regrets his youthful indiscretions and hopes for another shot at winning Julia’s heart. But Julia hasn’t forgotten the humiliation and isn’t keen on trust or forgiveness, no matter how good looking Alex is. When she becomes smitten with an accomplished writer, who might not only help her store’s bottom line but also sweep her off her feet, she thinks she has found Mr. Right. With her heart up for grabs, Alex must convince Julia her new man is all wrong for her and, more importantly, persuade her to give him a second chance at love. This is the second book in the Huron Cove series. I bought both the first and second books at the same time. For some reason I read this one first. I found the book to be irritating. I don’t believe the main character, Julia, ever got past the mental age of 13. She was shallow and self absorbed. One minute she’s madly in love the next minute crying (yep that’s a 13 year old). Emma the 10 year old (from THE ANGEL BETWEEN THEM) was a cute character but ridiculously mature. I don’t believe I’ve ever met a 10 year old that mature. I found the writing to be immature also. I haven’t read any other books by Rob Shumaker so have no prior experience of his style. I’m not sure I’ll even read The Angel Between Them.
I did enjoy this story as I like the author’s writing and I will be reading all the books in this series. I had trouble connecting with Jules but the other characters are great. Nice to have stories where people pray and no sex.
I haven’t heard of this author prior to book one but I loved both of his books! Very interesting from start to finish. Can’t wait to get book three now. 🙏💕
