Micheal Maxwell has traveled the globe on the lookout for strange sights, sounds, and people. His adventures have taken him from the Jungles of Ecuador and the Philippines to the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge, and from the cave dwellings of Native Americans to The Kehlsteinhaus, Hitler’s Eagles Nest! He’s always looking for a story to tell and interesting people to meet.

Micheal Maxwell was taught the beauty and majesty of the English language by Bob Dylan, Robertson Davies, Charles Dickens, and Leonard Cohen.

Mr. Maxwell has traveled the globe, dined with politicians, rock stars, and beggars. He has rubbed shoulders with priests and murderers, surgeons and drug dealers, each one giving him a part of themselves that will live again in the pages of his books.

Micheal Maxwell has found a niche in the mystery, suspense, genre with The Cole Sage Series that gives readers an everyman hero, short on vices, long on compassion, and a sense of fair play, and the willingness to risk everything to right wrongs. The Cole Sage Series departs from the usual, heavily sexual, profanity-laced norm and gives readers character-driven stories, with twists, turns, and page-turning plot lines.

Micheal Maxwell writes from a life of love, music, film, and literature. Along with his lovely wife and travel partner, Janet, he lives in a small town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California.

Cole Cuts - a review by Rosemary Kenny

*slight spoilers*
Micheal Maxwell brings the wonderful, heart-warming, A Cole Sage Mystery series to a gentle conclusion, after ten magnificent stories.
Cole is retiring to France, (along with his devout and beloved wife, Kelly) to write as fiction, accounts of his past cases.
The loving couple move nearer to their children and to live on the houseboat they've recently bought, from the son and heir of their recently departed friend, Will.
Before that poignant event takes place, we are privy to one last swansong of a story, that will set your pulses racing and make you completely forget all about the Covid-19 pandemic and its dreadful effects.
Don't miss Cole Cuts for a fantastic tale of lies, secrets, murder, (of course!) and much much more, unputdownable, 5-star Cole Sage Mystery by the amazing Michael Maxwell.

What an ending!!! Hard to imagine how one man could get into so many adventures and walk away unscathed but he did. He was everyone's hero and I loved the final chapter when he stood up for honest journalism If the author is half as likable as his character, he must be quite a guy. This last book reminds of the first nine books and all the characters that appeared. It is nice that he and Kelly had time in Orvin, Oklahoma, but how long could they live in a small town with such bad attitudes. They needed a safe place and they found it but even small towns have bullies and after San Francisco, the open spaces begin to call. This series is one of the best I've read. Most writers would continue it for another 20 or 30 books so to have an author end a series his own way is refreshing. Give yourself a treat and read the entire series.

Another lump of Cole

I have so enjoyed reading the entire Cold Sage series. At times, I think "let's get off this everyday, routine stuff and move to more exciting, fast paced action". By then I have identified with the characters and become emotionally involved with every aspect of their lives. Sometimes I cry or smile or just feel good reading about decent people trying to do the best things. I pray there would be more authors and public figures who love God and let it be known. Thanks.

Fantastic!

It is a shame when a author puts a character to sleep, but maybe he will awaken. Every book of the Cole saga was refreshing, exciting and one I did not want to put down. Thank you!

Another good book

Loved the way it brought the past stories while Cole is helping with the investigation into the murders happening in Orville. Lots going on in the life of Cole Sage and his wife Kelly.

Gentle (if homicide can be gentle!) Murder Procedural

The why of the deaths become heartbreakingly clear, the investigation leaves broken lives and collateral damage in its wake, yet life goes on.

Ripples and repercussions from cruel gossip are also a part of this story.

Sad!

Loved the book. My only complaint is that it is the last one! This is a series I could read over and over. I am looking forward to the new series.

Good book, fast read. A little twisty; the protagonist is writing and creating titles for himself. I rate it 5 stars.

This is the last book in the brilliant Cole series and Micheal Maxwell has very cleverly incorporated characters from the previous 9 books to bring the series to a close.
Cole is a retired newspaper reporter who has very strict principles, has a led a very exciting life but has also suffered tragedies, with encouragement from friends he decides that it would perhaps be a good idea to put these experiences into book form.
This story begins with a brutal murder and from here I couldn't stop turning pages, the body count mounted, all dismembered and all Hispanic.
It was so serious that it was on the FBIs radar and Cole gets to meet up with and assist his old friend FBI agent Carter Washington.
As the story pans out there numerous suspects, red herrings, misinformation and racial hatred, it is full of suspense and intrigue.
This story culminates with a brilliant speech at an awards ceremony meaning that Cole goes out with a bang and heads off into the sunset with Kelly, his much love wife.
A thoroughly enjoyable book that I can thoroughly recommend .
