Gabe Addison's son, Daniel, is missing, stolen in the night from his high end house in an expensive Cincinnati neighborhood. Except Daniel isn't really Gabe's son. The child is a result of a six month bender his gambling addicted, alcoholic wife took two years earlier. Gabe doesn't even like the kid, but he loves his wife, and he knows Daniel is the anchor that grounds her to a sober life with him and their family. Everyone believes Daniel's father, Randall Rondo, orchestrated the kidnapping. As Gabe begins to ask questions about his wife's time from two years ago, he doubts that Rondo is really Daniel's father. If Rondo didn't take Daniel, who did, and why? With the FBI following the wrong lead, the orthodontist must dive into a world of gangsters, illegal gambling halls, and prostitution to find the missing child. Searching for the boy leaves Dr. Gabe Addison beaten and bruised, no closer to finding Daniel, and with the realization that he loves and needs his son much more than he believed.
