21-year-old, Jordan has lived under her brother Montell’s thumb virtually all her life while only knowing one side of the good guy he pretends to be. Banned from stepping in foot in New York since a child, she’s finally grown now and given access to another side of his life, and the women and friends who live in it. But, once given an inch, she takes a mile and is drawn into a love she never expected. Naive and bullheaded, Jo realizes, there was a reason for the ban, and must now deal with the penalties that come with the new love and life she chose.
This book is a great story and gives more background to the characters in the Daina books by this author. Read the Daina books FIRST and you’ll understand how this book fills in the blanks and brings more dimension to Issa vs Evelyn vs Montez and how Jordan & Cruz became a thing.
I hope the author continues their story and possibly writes a shirt on other couples like Lee & Love and Daina’s parents.
I enjoy reading this book, it proved what unconditional love is about in some people lives. I'm just not happy with the ending, is there going to be a second book continuing the story and when will it be available. It's disappointing when authors write these stories and leave no closure, then book readers lose interest in you as an author.

I enjoyed Jordan and Joel’s relationship. It was messy but also full of love. Unfortunately, Joel was very young and a product of his environment. He basically grew up alone, without a good male role model and therefore he doesn’t really know how to navigate a relationship honestly. I don’t think he wanted to hurt Jordan, first by cheating and then by hiding the pregnancy. He got caught up and then he really was scared of her reaction so instead of being honest, he married her to bind her to him. As for Jordan, she’s also young but older and educated so I find it frustrating that she doesn’t take the wheel more and communicate. If she knew he was cheating why didn’t she say anything and instead cheated herself? That childish. Also after marrying him, she knows he has no education, how is it she’s not asking questions what is he doing for work? He said he liked school as a child before things went south with his family, why isn’t she encouraging him to pass his GED, then go further so that he can open a small business maybe given that with his record a salaried job will be hard to get. Issa ended being a good friend although she and Jordan’s brother were messy. As for Montell, his attitude was ridiculous. The more you push a 21 year old, the more they do stupid things. He was also a hypocrite given his lifestyle. Not paying for her school was just petty. As for Laurie, who need friends like this. All she seemed to care about when they were younger is sex and now she’s not supportive of Jordan furthering her education. Sleeping with Jo’s brother was just foul, however she wants to justify it. I was surprised and disappointed that there was a cliffhanger. Hope we won’t have to wait too long.
I was looking forward to this book. It was honestly a great read. I kind of expected Jordan to rebel agaisnt Montrell because of his strictness. He basically pushed her in Cruz's arms especially for the trill that it gave her. I also feel like Cruz used Jordan , he knew not to cross that line with her and he did it still and decided not to cherish what they had. But he is younger than her so i don't expect much anyway lol. Jordan still is immature as well. I think they need to work on themselves before being together. I'm also sad about Issa and her miscarriages its so heartbreaking ..i wonder what's her story (wink wink). I am definitely looking forward to part 2. My only criticism would be the errors, it was a good much and most of them were small. So i would say maybe add in another proof read before publishing. I also gave it 4 stars because, there wasn't really any cliff hangers or major turns, it was smooth sailing(not that i don't appreciate that) . Other than that i love the books and this author, its like a breath of fresh air when I read her books. I look forward to more to come.
