There has been a great deal written about using the law of attraction to get into a relationship.
Conceive, Believe, Receive- sounds easy enough.
Yet self-doubt, self-sabotage and low self-esteem can prevent us from truly believing that we deserve the love we seek. This one week experiment is designed to help bring more magic into your life. The seven easy rituals in this book are designed to help you manifest a partner and give you the clarity and confidence to help you attract a meaningful, fulfilling relationship.
Practical Magik [hereafter abbreviated as PM] offers a concise and well-written manual for anyone who wants to attract the partner of his/her dreams. Two-thirds of this manual is occupied with explaining the Law of Attraction and providing research studies that confirm its effectiveness. The final one-third presents a very practical and effective seven-day reorientation program that allows users to open up their heart, mind, and living spaces in order to prepare themselves to receive suitable love partners.
My academic training is in physics, psychology, and religious studies. As a result, I am unable to accredit the truth claims of the Law of Attraction. Those who are adept in New Age lingo and practices will undoubtedly find this segment of PM comforting and affirming. But the good news is that a reader like myself can completely bypass this segment and go directly to the heart of the matter: the seven day reprogramming.
The seven-day program consists of daily exercises. For me, I set aside an hour every morning right after completing my daily Ashtanga Yoga and Taekwondo routines. I found a quiet place in my home, and I asked my Beloved not to interrupt me. I deliberately did not read ahead because I wanted to allow myself to be surprised by each new set of exercises. Since I am experiencing some rough spots in my core relationship at this time, I adopted the PM program just slightly so as to address my desire to rekindle the spontaneous joy and mutual admiration that marked the first two years of our relationship.
My results were stellar! The exercises reaffirmed all the outstanding traits of my Beloved. They softened my heart and allowed me to affirm various behaviors of my Beloved that had been annoying me. I was able to find the hidden gold in these behaviors and to assure myself that it was more important for my Beloved to "be true to herself" than "to conform to my wishes." Thus, I was realigning my mind and my affections to embrace the depths of my Beloved on an entirely new level. The exercises on forgiveness were most significant in this realignment. My personal mantra during this time became, "My Beloved can do no wrong."
As it happened, my Beloved affirmed my efforts to transform myself in ways that were instinctual and seemingly spontaneous. Two days in a row, my Beloved came over to my side of the bed and cuddled with me for ten minutes before we both dressed quickly to walk our seven dogs. She did this without any suggestion or prompting on my part. Furthermore, I never discussed "my seven-day retreat," nor did my Beloved ask me about it. Using the New Age lingo, I had created a new space in my heart, and the Universe rushed in to fill it.
Ingrid Morgan, the author of PM, speaks of herself as "more than a little obsessed with the Law of Attraction." So true. But, as I have discovered, one can profit from the seven-day realignment program without having any commitment to the Law of Attraction. My only regret is that Ms. Morgan never allows her readers to appreciate how she chose the exercises that she offers us. Nor does she tell us in what ways these exercises attracted and blessed any of her own significant relationships. Hopefully my testimony will help remedy this lacuna.
The advice and knowledge in this book may have been intended to find 'the ideal relationship', but I would caution readers to see it with eyes open to a greater picture. While I am not a stranger to the ideas of this book, I found its timing into m reading to be practical and uplifting as well as extremely insightful. The treasures of this book should be viewed as applicable to your entire life, and accomplishing anything at all. So, to Ingrid: I offer my sincerest thanks for reminding me of something that offers greater perspective on some of my greater ambitions.
Practical Magik is a short read and presents the reader with a week's worth of exercises, all of which are solid steps toward a more positive state of mental health. The author spends a good bit of time explaining the science behind the Law of Attraction using various studies as evidence. I don't think she broke new ground with this book. There are plenty books on the market just like it, but it was an easy read and there were actionable steps for a reader to take so I gave it 4 stars. Will you meet your soulmate right after finishing this book? Probably not, but you will likely be moving in the right direction that will ultimately put you in a situation where you might.
Dynamite comes in small packages - I picked this book up out of curiosity, I got more than I bargained for - After 25 days of Covid 19 seclusion I was questioning my future intent and what a new Normal might look like. This book is viable on so many more levels than just relationships. It gave me clarity as to how I can emerge in my element and empower my own future. Great little read with a big impact.
It’s age old principles - mind over matter - written for our time... practical, no non-sense step-by-step approach to using your mind, the universe, and understanding/confronting internal and external roadblocks to bring into reality that which you desire for a better life...
