Perfect title for a perfect story. Loved the new addition to the Shelby Nichols series. Her husband is a saint, she has a huge heart that gets her in trouble and Uncle Joey is just as affected by her as everyone else. This was such a good storyline, it was well paced and well executed. It was exciting from start to finish. Shelby and her Cree head to New York to visit the Manetto's and see Miguels play. While there a rival mob boss causes problems, causing Joey to very thoroughly put him in his place. As part of his revenge Shelbys life is once again in danger. Also while in New York she helps the Dimples equivalent in a case. She is stretched thin and nerves are shot, including those of her husband. She just wanted a vacation, not more death threats, assassination attempts, and more police cases. So so good!!! Highly recommend.

Oh Shelby! Another book that doesn’t disappoint for our heroine and favourite mob boss!
I absolutely love this series and especially Ramos 😍

So this time the Nichol clan and Manettos are heading to NY for Miguel’s starring debut in Aladdin, a lovely little break away to rest and relax.... not!
Mobsters, a hired gun (who’s not as good as Ramos) another police precinct, and a new character, Hawk, is introduced...

Highly recommend this author and her brilliant masterpieces ⭐️

Series still going strong! Loved it!

I love how the Characters have grown and changed over this series. Shelby is a breath of fresh air, I love that she’s a mum to teenagers juggling married life and kids with the crazy life she was thrust into.
I don’t like spoilers so all I can say is this book was Lots of fun! As expected this book was filled with mysteries to be solved, laughter and fun loveable characters. I absolutely love this series. If you’re a fan buying this book is a given. If you are new to the series start at the beginning with Carrots you won’t regret it.

Another adventure with Shelby and her family, making New York friends and enemies! These stories flow from one dramatic moment to the next, with such good dialogue and emotional situations that help me get lost in the story. And, bonus for me, the author stated she's already hard at work on the next adventure!

Amazing

Colleen Helme tells a story that keeps you wanting more when you have finished it and continues to do it with every book. In many ways I wish I had come across her recently and not with her first book as I would then be able to immerse myself in reading them one after another and not having now to wait for the next book to be written. She is a storyteller and Shelby and Uncle Joey are marvellous characters.

New York, New York it’s a musical.

It was supposed to be a holiday, but Shelby should know by now consulting for the police can get complicated especially when your on holiday with a mob boss.

What a delightful series! Suck a wonderful author! Each book holds laughs, a bit of breath-holding, tears and to be truthful, peeking ahead every once in a while just to make sure “Ramos” is going to be okay.😘
I am anxiously looking forward to the next installment and knowing a day or two in my life will be filled with such a love for these characters that the love will be carried over into my real life.
Thank you again Colleen, and keep up the amazing writing. You truly have a remarkable gift!

Wow!!! There are not enough words to describe how much I loved this book. Shelby and her family join Uncle Joey and Jackie in New York. In between seeing a Broadway show and sightseeing, Shelby helps the NYPD solve murders. You will get goose bumps and you will want to cry, but what a ride.

Great Book

Shelby thinks she and her family are going on vacation to NYC. Well, that is partly true. But with Uncle Joey calling on her to consult for him, and her being put in the position of consulting for the NYPD, she is not getting a whole lot of vacationing done. She is putting her life in danger. I mean, seriously in danger. I am awestruck how well all the events happening in this book came together so seamlessly. Would love to read more about the awesome nurse Shelby met in the emergency room.

Well now that was an awesome Shelby adventure.

I have to say I kinda feel sorry for Chris...lol he always misses out on the thrilling adventures Shelby gets to go one...lol

New York a trip Shelby and her family had been looking forward to for a while now ended up being a little bit more of an adventure for Shelby but as all Shelby fans know by now she is a huge magnet for trouble and visiting New York was no exception.

This was such an awesome fast-paced action packed adventure and left me wanting more...

Another wonderful Shelby Nichols book by Colleen Helme

When is a family vacation anything but a vacation? When it's Shelby Nichols' vacation. Shelby and family go to visit 'family'. Shelby had agreed to stop in at the local police precinct to see if she could help with a case, easy right?

Only it isn't, it never is when it's Shelby.

Her case ends up with links back to Uncle Joey's family enemy.

With the ghosts of the past to guide her, and sexy Ramos to guard her back, and her particular skills, will Shelby survive this vacation and solve a case?

You'd beter believe Shelby will give it all she can to keep her family safe. Another winner in the Shelby Nichols book line up.

Another great read.

I highly recommend this series. It's funny and thrilling and the same time. Shelby has a heart of gold and is always waiting to the right thing but seems to get in the midst of all the trouble. You have to love her and Uncle Joey and Ramos do. I love the chemistry between her and Ramos and I'm happy that the author does not cross the line into fidelity. Can't wait for the next book. Great job!

The final quarter had me hooked, so I read it in one massive action packed late night session. The final chapter was, I think, rather brilliant; but a bit of dust got in my eye, or something! This installment really dialled everything up to the max and was a property breakneck adventure.

I like this series.

Shelby's family goes to New York City for vacation. Shelby finds herself aiding the police in three murders, and getting involved with a rival mob boss who is a threat to Uncle Joey. It is a rollercoaster ride with Shelby trying to enjoy her vacation, finding a murderer, and not getting killed. Shelby gets herself into trouble, even without trying.

4.5 stars

This was another really good entry into the Shelby Nichols series. But, since I just happened to read book 12 immediately before book 13 (this one) I actually liked the previous book a bit better. This was still a very funny read, full of zaniness and all of the trouble filled tornadoes that seem to follow Shelby, but it was actually just a bit much for me. I still enjoyed it. Trying to put my finger on the "what" it was that made it closer to a 4 star read vs a 5 star read is a hard thing. Mostly, I think that Shelby went a bit too far with her cluelessness into how things were affecting her family, especially the fact that with a "hit" out on her, her family was actually in quite a bit of danger... I'm not sure that even entered her mind.

I've never before felt like Chris was being taken advantage of and Lord knows that Shelby pushes that relationship to the limit quite often. I just felt like things were pushed and pulled a bit too thin between Hawk, Ramos, Uncle Joey, Milo and Tony. I mean she just met Hawk, is only supposed to be checking in with the NYPD, but she basically ignored her family the entire week they were in New York.

Okay, off my soap box. Like I said before, it was a good read and Shelby was just being Shelby. There were several good things - I think the relationship between Uncle Joey and Shelby got closer and Ramos was being Ramos - it was interesting to see him feel some jealousy towards Shelby...interesting.

All in all - the narrator was fantastic as always and I enjoyed listening to this, again, as always.

Waiting now for book 14 :)

I started to say that this is my favorite book but I feel that way at the end of of every Shelby Nichols book even the ones I reread. Ghostly Serenade is the 13th book in the series, and 13 seems to be bad news for Shelby who can't stay out danger, deadly danger, as she insists on continuing to help in the dead-end investigation into the murder of roommates even though it means giving up most of her family vacation. Chris can't help resenting that Shelby puts herself in danger, but he knows she has to follow her heart to resolve the murders. I love that we have been able to watch individuals and relationships develop throughout the series.
The need to help the NYPD investigate the murders once again puts her at odds with Uncle Joey but a New York mob family soon gives him other things to think about. Don't worry that Ramos isn't scheduled to go to New York for Miguel's debut in Aladdin. We know that if Shelby is in danger, Ramos will turn up. He teases and flirts worse than usual, but like most of us, he is glad that he knows she would never betray Chris.

The tension was exhausting but I didn't want the book, or the trip to New York, to end.

Will work it out tomorrow and post on Amazon etc.

There is nothing better than a new installment in the Shelby Nichols Mystery Adventure series. “Ghostly Serenade” finds Shelby and her family going to New York for a weeks vacation with Uncle Joey and to see his son Miguel perform in Aladdin.

Before leaving, the chief of police and internal affairs met with Shelby regarding the shooting she was involved in. It seems they want he to see a counselor before they will clear her to come back and work for them. Additionally, the chief makes a request for Shelby to assist NYPD with the murders of two women that left the third clinging to life. Shelby reluctantly agrees and both Chris and Uncle Joey are none to pleased.

Shelby takes in the sites of NY and attends the play that night. She is concerned because her daughter has a massive crush on Miguel. Then she meets with Detective Hawk the next day to get the details on the murder. He is skeptical of her abilities but is desperate to find justice for the women. When he takes Shelby to the hospital to see the sole survivor something strange occurs; she meets a nurse that she cannot read. This is the first time this has happened. However, she is able to pick a few thought from the comatose survivor that gives She and Hawk a place to start the investigation.

The next day they hear the girl had come out of her coma but before they get a chance to interview her Shelby discovers that someone is attempting to kill her with an injection of a poisonous drug. She is saved in the nick of time but dies the next day. To make matters worse, Uncle Joey has been summoned by the mom boss if NY, Milo “Crack Shot” Billotti. The Manettos and Billotti have a long standing grudge dating back to the death of Uncle Joey’s grandparents.

Milo thinks he is expert businessman who can snare Uncle Hoey into making a business deal with him by making threats. He is about to find out that he has attempted to mess with the wrong man. Soon it becomes clear that the murders of the women is connected to the Billotti and Shelby just may have bitten off more than she can handle.

There’s so much going on in the plot and I gobbled down every delicious detail. There is subterfuge, plenty of action, emotions off the chart and just plain fun! In the end I was left wanting more and that my friends is the tell tale sign of an excellent series. I don’t think I will ever get enough if the world of Shelby Nichols.

Woohoo! Shelby Nichols is back in her biggest adventure yet and the series just gets better and better. I loved this book it was great fun catching up with Shelby and her extended family. This book continues where the last book finished and even though they are stand alone stories if this is your first book then you have been missing a real treat and I recommend you listen to the rest of the series. Shelby with her mind reading talent is so much fun and it gets her into so much trouble that you wonder how on earth she can get out of this pickle but with back up from Ramos and Uncle Joey she always manages too and at the same time leads you on a roller coaster ride, as she gets to the bottom of the murder. I hope there are plenty more stories to come from this author.
Shelby and the family are off to New York for a holiday and to watch Uncle Joey's son play Aladdin. Before she can leave however the chief she consultants for asks her to stop by the NYPD to help an old friend with a double homicide case. One victim is barely hanging on and they are hoping with Shelby's preminations they might be able to get some answers. It not long before Uncle Joey is hiring bodyguards for them all, when a rival mob boss make his feels about Joey being back in town very clear. Shelby has to split her holiday time between helping the police solve the murders and stopping Uncle Joey from going to.war with the New York mob. Also with Dimples back home she has to work with a new police partner and keep her secret from him while still giving him information to bust the case wide open. With time running out and her husband's patience wearing thin Shelby has to do the right thing despite the consequences because no good deed goes unpunished.
I really like Wendy for the narrator of this series and I am glad to see she is sticking with it because I don't think anyone would sound right for the part of Shelby. Long my the great partnership between author and narrator continue.

This book was very exciting with lots of tension and suspense. I found myself holding my breath over several scenes in this story. Shelby has a problem saying no, so when Uncle Joey takes Shelby and her family to NY on vacation, and her police chief asks her to do a "quick" favor for NYPD, she reluctantly agrees and quickly gets way more involved than she intended. Between the fib they all tell that she is Uncle Joey's sister's daughter given up for adoption, having to tell Chris and her kids that she will miss yet another family day and now someone is trying to kill her, And then there is Ramos. Oh boy....I wondered if she would make it thru this book with her life, or her marriage and family. As good as a an episode of your favorite police show, I highly recommend this book and this series. This series reminds me of the t.v. show Medium that was out several years ago.
I did listen to it in audio. The narrator is very good, and able to carry all of the characters in this book.

I received a free copy and voluntarily provided this review.

Shelby Nichols can't stay away from trouble...even on vacation.

I absolutely love the Shelby Nichols books. This time Shelby is going to New York with her family and the Manettos. But before she leaves the chief of police asks if she'd do a favour for the New York police department. Two girls have been murdered and one is in intensive care in a coma. They're hoping Shelby can use her 'premonitions' to see if she can find out what happened. Uncle Joey also needs her help with rival job gang. Shelby is finding it hard to juggle the two jobs while also trying to spend the vacation with her family. But the case could really be the death of her in more ways than one. But as always Uncle Joey and his hitman Ramos have got her back or are they going to be too late?
I absolutely love these books. A fantastic way to escape from the real world. Can't wait for the next one.
