Something is disrupting the spiritual atmosphere in Black Sands, but no one else seems to be aware of its menacing presence. So Reg does her best to push it to the back of her conscious mind and to focus on new friendships and opportunities. She has been in Florida for long enough that it’s time to have some fun.
But ignoring the presence doesn’t make it go away, and before long, Reg has been dragged into a manhunt—or a creature hunt—that is scarier than anything she has faced in the paranormal community yet.
With the help of some long-buried memories and unexpected helpers, Reg is able to find a few answers… and a lot more questions.

I have to admit that this is not my favorite of the Reg Rawlins stories. For some reason, Reg seems to have a major chip on her shoulder throughout this entire story. It is almost as if she has a "get them before they get me" attitude. I realize that she has had a very tough childhood and has been left to fend for herself more times than not, but I dislike seeing her take the negative route. She even admits at one point that she doesn't care who gets hurt, she's going to look out for herself. I'm hoping this is simply a reaction to being suspected in the theft of Sarah's emerald and having people she was beginning to think of as friends turn against her. If not, this may be the end of the series for me and that's a shame because I have been enjoying them. Here's hoping this is just a one-time thing and Reg can get back on the right track. Oh and in case you didn't notice, Ms. Workman can for sure create some relatable characters. If you didn't know better you might think the above paragraph was written about somebody I actually know. Well, that's the way I feel about these characters and if you haven't met them, you need to.
Reg recognizes that feeling of dread. This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Night of Nine Tails by P.D. Workman is the 4th book in the Reg Rawlins Series by P.D. Workman. As such, it is part of a series and can be read in order but it is also able to be read as a stand alone. But that being said, I would suggest that if you like these kinds of stories, you take the time to read the first 3 books before you read this one as they all have such quirky characters that you’d miss out on a lot of good old fashioned fun and mysterious goings on. And on to the review… Reg is pretty secure in her little home in Black Sands, Florida. She has her black cat Starlight, her quirky landlord Sarah, and her clients. Oh, and let’s not forget Corvin, the alluring warlock with his eye on Reg. So much so that when he asks to consult with her about recent problems that she and he need to discuss, she hires another warlock to act as her bodyguard. But it looks as though Corvin is the least of her worries, as there’s something going on in Black Sands that they both can feel, but nobody else seems to be aware of. Can they figure out what’s going on before it’s too late?
Awesome. A great read of magic, immortals, zombies, witch doctors and so much more. Fraught with tension and suspense but leaving you with one question - Who is Weston? He's obviously her father. I could be wrong but I don't believe I am. Our heroine is getting more used to her power but she still has no recollection of what actually happened to her as a child. However there is a feeling of wrongness that only she and Hunter can sense. Her new friend Damon aids her when she has meetings with Hunter and he forces her to remember. Add in an immortal godfather, a witch doctor, plenty of shape-shifting zombies, a charmer and deaths. Will they have enough power between the four of them to stop the Witch Doctor? But who is Weston and why is he seeking him?
Not the best book in the series, but still very good
I love the characters, especially the cat. We learn more about Reg's history, and of course more about the supernatural world. The less pleasant part is that Reg is so scared that for much of the book she only wants to protect herself, and I want her to be more selfless. But to be fair she has some very deep trauma, that she clearly hasn't worked through.
Night of Nine Tails (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator #4), my nineteenth read from author P.D. Workman. Well-written & enjoyable. a cute, clean cozy mystery. Now I need to get The Telepathy of Gardens (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator Book 5) and Delusions of the Past (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator #6) so I can get caught up on the series. "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Well, I found another PD Workman.. This one is #4 in the Reg Rawlins series. (Out of order again). I really enjoy her characters, and it doesn't matter if you read out of order because Ms Workman has a talent of writing in a way that you don't get lost or confused about what is going on. This is a rare gift. I ha e discovered that I enjoy the paranormal. Great job, and keep up the good work. Cheers Lynn🇨🇦

Reg and her nightmare, seemed more than thoughts or warnings of her latest scam, even harder when she had to prove she was innocent. A time to have fun, for no one else seems to notice this aura of dread hanging overhead in Black Sands. There are quirky characters, a bit of romance and good enjoyment.
I'm so torn between 4.5 stars and 5 stars. So far, this is what I would call a pageturner series and this installation is definitely THE pageturner of them all. And I like the character development as well new character introductions. But I don't know if this is worth a 5 star rating. I'll have to sit on it while I read book 5.
The characters are lively and the book is well written. There are plenty of plot twists to keep things interesting. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Zombies and bokors and cats, oh my! Reg is right in the midst of things, as usual, dragged in by Corbin and some truly awful childhood memories. What can she do? Is it time to leave town?
A little different. Take a crook/grifter who thinks shes pretending to read the future and dump her into a town where magic and all the races she thought were fairy tales really exist, although not altogether in harmony, add a kiddnaping... The author has created a richly created world.
A bit slow moving and repetitive - brings up more questions than it answers - not the best in the series - but still a decent read. 3 stars, which is good enough (just!) for me to reach for the next book.
All throughput this book is a sense of dread and fear. Also, Reg makes two new friends that I hope will reappear. Warning : Tru not to read this nook unless someone else is close by.
A very interesting story with a lot of interesting characters, some magical and some without any powers. I really enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to the next one in this series,
Once again, Something strange is going on in Black Sands. Meg finds herself in trouble, and in another mystery. I am totally enjoying the Meg Rawlins series.
Enjoyable addition to the series! Corvin’s punishment for his crimes but that doesn’t stop him from getting involved with Reg again but this time he’s got some competition, Damen.
I was drawn in right from the start of this book and it kept my interest all the way to the end. It is a delightful and fun paranormal adventure following a psychic, Reg, as she and her friends defend their city of Black Sands from threat of an evil Witch Doctor with immense power. There is plenty of suspense, a touch of budding romance, and a few draugar (zombies) to hold your attention. There is no offensive language, explicit sex, or graphic violence – just a delightful, clean, and completely captivating well-constructed story for those of us who enjoy mystery, intrigue, and magic in our escapist reading. I will certainly be looking forward to the next installment in this enchanting series.
I was provided with an advance copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.

A great psychic investigator book, a very different take on murder mysteries which I love to read. The books grabs you attention all the way through and goes through several surprising plot twists. It is easy to read and even though the subject matter fiction and impossible in the real world, it is a great book to use as an escape and relaxation even if it does get your heart racing in some parts.
