His books have been translated into more than 10 languages. He lives in Japan.

A little boy gets stuck while trying to get ready for his bath...but he won't ask mom for help. Fun story sure to bring a smile to the face of parents.

A little boy declares that he can get ready for the bath by himself, but gets himself stuck in his shirt. He thinks about what would happen if he was permanently stuck in his shirt. It might be alright sometimes, but what about when he gets thirsty or wants to play with his cat? He realizes he could figure out inventive ways to solve those problems. Unfortunately, then he tries to take off his pants and manages to get entirely stuck. Luckily his mom appears and rescues him. Every child has gotten stuck in their clothes and will enjoy laughing along as this child figures out clever ways to live in a shirt. The (literal) twist of the pants at the end is cleverly done and offers just the right silly tone and a glimpse of a bare bottom too. Share this one after a bath. Appropriate for ages 2-4.

Oh, this book made me belly laugh! It just keeps building and building. In a few short pages, we really get to know this boy and come to care about how he handles his predicament. In fact, let's be honest, we've all been this boy, or at least we've been in this predicament. Hilariously silly and fun!

This is like the perfect book for a little two year old boy. I burst out laughing at the pants page and promptly bought the book. The illustrations really nail it.

Interestingly enough, the illustrations are ever so slightly different from the Japanese version of this book (もうぬげない). The bathtime scenes at the end look like they were redrawn by Shinsuke Yoshitake specifically for the English editions of the book, mostly to hide genitalia since it is a little boy bathing. But they're otherwise identical except for the placement of soap bubbles. Not sure if anyone would care or not - I only happened to notice because my spouse was absolutely convinced there were new drawings in "There Might be an Apple" between the Japanese and English versions (there are not) and we ended up doing a compare across all Shinsuke Yoshitake's works in English.

The premise of the child trying to get his shirt off, not succeeding, and imagining what it would be like if he stays that way sounds amusing, but the deadpan tone and art just don't work well for the most part. Mom carrying butt naked kid over her shoulder to the bath is funny, and the rest of the sequence (featuring nudity that is more subtle than, say, that of In the Night Kitchen, no "naughty bits" other than buttocks on view) is okay, but this is another picture book that sounds better than it looks. So to speak.

Very funny story with equally funny illustrations.
A familiar situation - a small child is stubborn enough to not want his mother's help when he gets stuck in his shirt while trying to take it off. He imagines what would happen if he's stuck forever. Such a cute ending to this adorable story, too.

One independent boy demands to get ready for bath time all by himself. But when he tries to get his shirt off and gets stuck--all he can think about is living his life forever stuck inside his shirt. A legitimate concern, for sure. Absolutely delightful story about the dangers of being stubborn.

Laugh out loud humorous picture book about a little one getting stuck while getting ready for a bath. The simple text and illustrations perfectly capture the absurdity of the moment. A wonderful preschool book to share before bath time.

کتابی دوست داشتنی با درون مایه طنز در مورد لباس پوشیدن و دراوردن بچه ها و اتفافات و حواشی اون، باتصاویر ساده و نمکین.
میشه موقع عوض کردن بچه ها این کتاب رو بهشون یاداوری کرد و مقاومتشون برای این کار رو کم کرد و با خنده کار رو پیش برد :-D
