GREAT book - a must-read for new teachers!!!
My principal actually forced me to read this book, but I'm so glad he did. Classroom management is probably the hardest thing for new teachers to handle, and the only way to master it is through trial and error. This book eliminates most of the guesswork and gives step-by-step instructions for teaching and implementing all of the important classroom procedures. I really wish I had read this book years ago!
Two reasons why I didn't give it 4 stars: it was a little out of date (e.g. students aren't going to ask to use the school telephone anymore), and it seemed to be geared slightly more toward elementary classrooms. Otherwise, though, the book is fantastic and very useful!

Recently completed a book study on this one. Every teacher should read this. No surprises, no secret tips,just good examples, and solid practice. Each chapter starts with a poem written by the author that set a good tone for the short chapter that follows.
