If one can safely assume something, many of us who love reading are unable to do so due to lack of time to read a full novel running into a number of pages. Life in Different Colours offers the readers short and captivating stories, which focus on some facets of life as seen by the author, woven into a world of fiction. Each story in this book can be read within a maximum of thirty to forty minutes. But that is not all. The author hopes that, through his imagination captured in these stories, these stories will not only make for a good read but also help the readers in some manner.
Life in different colours is collection of 12 short stories by Pratik P Sharda These stories as the name suggests covers the different colours or aspects of human life. The author in his book has to represent these colours in sorrow , love , grief etc Each story had its own beauty but overall I think it was a nice collection. The character well written and narration was smooth with easy language . Overall I think it was a easy read .
I have forever appreciated the different shades of life. It's the colors that impart value to life. If there wouldn't be any color (read, challenges, happiness, sorrows, ups, and downs), I doubt there would be anything called life then. It shall be a void, a null!
Life In Different Colours by Pratik Sharda is an eclectic mix of short stories drawing inspiration from different aspects of life. After a bad reading slump, I have been recovering slowly and I am glad this book just gave me the right amount of boost. I finished it in two sittings separated by long duration. However, I believe that it was all worth it.
The stories are simple, sweet, and perfectly engaging. They explore different themes and emotions such as love, family values, corruption, ransom, infidelity, sacrifice, crime, etc. I particularly loved the stories in the first half of the book. They had shocking climaxes and ended fantastically, something I absolutely love about the stories. The latter half had relatively predictable stories that were sweet and imparted some important life lessons.
What kept me involved me the book was its simplicity and authenticity. I found the language easy and writing pretty much lucid. The flow didn't break except for a few instances where I found conversations between characters tasteless. They were more or less monotonous moments for me which didn't contribute significantly to the plot. However, the author made sure to keep the pace moderate and stated for I didn't stop reading it yesterday. I finished it in a go!
This is a book that helps you get over your slump, the one that gives you comfort in distress, the one you read on the rainy evenings, the one that just opens up the world of real-life to you. Although it is a good read for all the readers, I would especially suggest it to those who want to start reading. This one would be easy on your head and comforting for your heart. Kudos to the author for doing a good job with creating this collection of short stories. Also, that's a wonderful book cover!
The book is a collection of short stories. Each story paints different colours in the aspects of various degrees of life. It gives us the realisation that you should "live your life at the present." Each and every story is unique in its own way.A perfect day and something like this are two of my personal favourites I just loved them alot. Even though the stories are completely different from each other, you won't feel bored reading them. They'll keep you interested and make you curious to know about the one that comes next.
If you're looking for something different and interesting read, then must go this amazing collection of short stories on the human psyche, instinct, life, and emotion. The book makes use of different scenarios from perception, psychology, opinions, passions and live values that make one's life invariable meaningful. Each story is special and unique in its own.
Short stories that make you ponder about the big and small things in life
My ratings: 4.5/5 True to its title this book comprises a myriad of relatable short stories in almost all genres: thriller, action, romance, family, drama. The 13 short stories are based on the emotions of people and are unique in their own way, leaving a lasting impact on readers' minds and hearts.
What I liked about the book: -> Each story emphasizes that life is not what you just experience and people are not just what you see. -> The stories aren't just for entertainment but also focus on delivering important messages to the readers. -> The build-up and narration in each story were highly engaging. -> The book opens up the world of real-life to you. It is a good read for all the readers, especially for those who want to start reading.
What I did not like about the book: -> As an avid reader, I could guess the ending or the upcoming parts of most stories.
Quotable quotes: -> The genius of the human mind lies in the fact that it cannot rest until it finds answers for almost anything in the world that intrigues it. -> People love to cry about unwanted things, but they do not take it seriously enough to get rid of such things. -> You never know what something will lead you to unless you do it.

I picked up this book due to colourful cover and I am glad that I picked this up on the Holi festival. Like the book cover, the book has colour of every emotions. The book is collection of few short stories. Among all, my favourite is “The angel of death” because the concept of Azra was new for me. And the story has been written too perfectly like it has every components. And other one is “Honey, I love you” I like that story because in that Rahul and Natasha are celebrating their five years anniversary and it is the period when your marriage is not new and not old enough that you completely understand each other. That story has been presented too beautifully. It’s difficult to write short stories as the author has limited words to convey entire story and concept and the author has done indeed good job. All the stories are written to the point like there is no unnecessary stretching. The stories moved at faster pace. I loved that. The narration style of the author is beautiful. All stories have been presented in artistic manner and most importantly I loved the concepts of all the stories. They are unique in nature and also different from one another. Like it has every shades of emotions. The language of the book is lucid and beautifully presented. Overall good one. Recommended from my side.
Life in different colours is a collection of short stories spiralling around various emotions and somewhat different in aspects. some stories starts as trailer or a suspense but ends in altogether different manner.
The title itself speaks the stories having diverse colours just like life. To quote one of my favourite saying "things are never easy when they are not black and white," well I will say that it is exactly the case for this collection. Even though this has been well written they carried their own charm. After reading each one of the stories you will definitely gain some moral be it a lesson on happiness or letting go of the past to accept the bright future.
In search of redemption and honey I love you are my favourite among these. I really like the author writing style simple and thought provoking. Definitely keep look out for any future books by this author.
This book is a set of short stories. And as the title suggests, you will get to read different colours of life by every chapter.
Few chapters were captivating but not all. Every chapter carries a different moral to teach but the stories are not that effective in my point of view. Like you know sometimes you read a moralistic book that influence you on some another level.
This book has good values to add in your lifestyle but the story chosen to convey those values were not much efficacious for me.
Still It was not a bad read. I liked the chapter 'Honey I love you'. Language was very easy. It is very well written.
You can give it a try. And for beginners it would be a good read.

I downloaded a Kindle version of Life in Different Colours, and I'm so glad I did! I rate the book a 4 out 5 stars. The author, Pratik P Sharda, has impeccably lived up to his aim of offering quick bites for those who find no time for books or simply have no inclination or patience to read full novellas. If you're one of them, pick this book up and who knows, who might start reading books as well, thanks to Sharda! *****
Life in Different Colours presents a myriad of relatable short stories that has something for everyone: thrill, action, romance, family, drama: you name it and it's there! Here's my quick review for each story: >>The twists, shocks, and the thrill in The Angel of Death and In Search of Redemption could well be adapted for short movies. Yes, they're that unpredictable. >> Honey I love You was a tad disappointing as it feels like a story I've read and hear before. >> A Perfect Day's ending left me wondering what would've happened next? It's a classic you-decide-what-happens story, leaving readers pondering. >>Without You will strike a chord with many, as it revolves around the delicate, sensitive yet oft-mistaken relationship between a father and son, and may you leave you teary-eyed. It's beautiful. >> On a Valentine's Day is another very adaptable short-film story. What begins as a romantic episode soon turns so dramatic that it gives you goosebumps. Just don't get scared, haha! >>The Stranger on Bed-406: Touching, for sure, but I somehow knew what the ending would be like. The imagery is great! >>Something Just Like This is perhaps the shortest story in the book. It's a bit abrupt and predictable. This is my least-liked story from the book. >>The Ransom is the longest story. It had such a funny ending that I started to think what if this was a true story? It's one of the fasted-paced stories in the book, and also the funniest! Now if you really want to know how a young lad getting kidnapped and his father losing his mind with fears of losing his child forever can be funny, you must read the story! ;) >>Love at First Sight shows us a sad facet of the society and compels one to think who are we to decide anyone else's lives, and why can't we change out mindsets? The love as depicted between the characters is heart-warming. >>It is Arranged started off on a great note but I found the way the story ended (particularly the entry of a certain character Madhuriji) a bit foolish and unfit for the story line. >>Ten Things, Ninety Days forces you to think about your own life and ow to live it. I had a hunch of what was to happen in the end but not the way the author did! So yes, it has an unexpected twist that leaves you feeling happy and sad at the same time. *****
Language, editing: The author's grasp over the language is clearly evident. It's a well-written and a well edited book, one that both beginner and seasoned readers will agree to. Written in a fluid language that's easy to understand and depicts emotions well, I liked how the book succeeds in invoking imagery in the reader's mind even through the few pages in each story.
Overall, the book makes for a great, light read. One suggestion for readers: Don't rush and try to finish the book in one or two sittings. Savour each story, because each has something for you to ponder upon, learn, or enjoy. Happy reading!
First and foremost, I thank the author for giving me an opportunity to review such an inspiring anthology of short stories.
Life in Different Colours is a simple collection of short stories, allowing you to see life itself from multiple perspectives, with the help of various storylines which converge into that one sensation we are acquainted with — living our lives. An insightful take on how life stories are different yet similar, Life in Different Colours encourages you to look beyond the surface and dares you to hope for happiness.
The first thing I liked about Life in Different Colours is the structure of the anthology. To write a short story is tougher than writing a novel. Short stories are supposed to present its theme within a span of not more than 10-15 pages. The linguistic economy associated with the writing of short stories is itself a challenge set for the writers. The genre of short stories has always had few authors, most of whom are known for their subtlety and plot twists. Life in Different Colours attempts to do the same — creating the element of surprise within a span of 7-8 pages or so. Secondly, each short story narrates a particular incident or scenario, which seems very common to us, only to infuse within them an unusual, unpredictable aspect. And it is quite amusing to see that almost every story has a sharp plot twist in it, often more than two in one story itself. Thirdly, the characters. I am glad the author doesn't waste words to describe every character, a typical trait in most writers trying their hand in writing for the first time in the genre of short stories. The author, in Life in Different Colours, prefers to keep the story brief and crisp, keeping in mind the time crunch of the reader. Kudos to the author for doing his best to maintain the linguistic economy.
However, there was one glitch which I could not avoid. Life in Different Colours has plot twists, yes; but they seem a bit too absurdly set in the context of the story. In some stories, I noticed that the plot twists were either too overwhelming, or too unsuitable in the respective context.
Yet, I appreciate the author's attempt in this book. Acknowledging the preface to Life in Different Colours, I am indeed impressed by the author's efforts towards this particular book, and I hope to see better works by him. I convey my best wishes to the author for his future endeavours.

What compels me to pick up short stories is the fact that I can finish them quickly without much of a hassle. I can read it anywhere or everywhere, be it travelling in a packed bus or sitting in a mall waiting for a friend or in my terrace at my leisure time. That's what short stories do, they force one to think with their little yet many interesting interpretation.
This book gives us various options or topics or ideas which are not run-of-the-mill oriented or interspersed according to the reader's preferences in a conventional way or rather traditional methodical approach. The application of the selected topics are individually designed to ensure that they're different from the usual clichéd ones such as romance, heartbreak, love, pain, etc. It's different as it talks about life. Life is like an empty white canvas. A canvas that each one of us has to fill with our own colours. The short stories depicted here are filled with colours such as love, hatred, war, death, happiness, sadness & some supernatural elements. They hold good potential. However, fail to make an everlasting impression or relevant impact on us.
Some of the stories fall short of others. Some are good whereas others are bland. Even the language used here is average. I feel it needs remarkable work. Same goes for narration. Also, the book needs editing. Overall, an okay read!

Title: A Unique Flow To Chase Rating: 4.8 ✨ You may always heard that every book is good but you may not heard that some books are really good. Ohh Amazed !!! Yes, I know it is similar to the previous fact but not the same. "Life in different colours" is really a good book. It starts with a view and ends with a message same as the author says. In the very beginning, it is impressive in its way that is linked to reality. Reality, we experience in our day-to-day life regarding reading, writing, choices and paths we have, to cross it. We generally see, people follow what's in trend and those are different who walk away from trend and choose a different queue. Author of the book did so. As everyone knows that life not just have one aspect, not just one feeling, not just one condition and not just one turn, how it can have just one flow; it should be different. Different with the different person, different lives & different views. So author chose to write a book which have different perspectives, opinions, emotions and flow/trend obviously; to which author named colours. Thus, created "Life in Different Colours". A good book to read, a distinct colour to spread & a unique flow to chase.
A collection of short stories portraying different colours of life. Each story depicting the human emotion, feeling, passion, instinct and life. Each story is unique and specially focuses on certain human is psyche. These stories appeal readers of all ages.
Having read a few books on romance, heartbreak, adventure and suspense, I found this book different. Something different and vivid as life. Life is an Empty white Canvas which one fills with the colours of his own choice. The author has presented a beautiful canvas of life with colours of love, hatred, war, death, happiness and sadness and the supernatural.
One of my favorite story is 'On a Valentine's Day ' and would love to quote these lines by the author --
"Love, people say, is the most powerful force on the planet that keeps things together. It is the reason for the existence of the human race, without which we would have just been machines. Although, in current times, true love, where one person cares for another so much that only death can do them apart, is very rare to find. This is about Love. This is about Life. This is about what happens when Love fills up Life."
My review
The cover is attractive with abstract art and appealing colours.
The title of the book is perfect for the collection of life stories.
The author has used simple language, making it a easy read.
A fine blend of human emotions has been presented through the stories.
Each story is unique and a light read.
Through these stories the author has conveyed the ideals that we learn from our parents, teachers and friends.
Will recommend to all busy or leisure readers. Read it. Enjoy it.
Life in different colours - what a wonderful title for a book that actually shows life in all its unique stages. The cover of this book is just as colourful as the stories contained in it are. Simple language, different plotlines , variety of subjects is what makes this book an enjoyable read. The author has compiled stories from different areas of our lives representing different circumstances to give readers something that can be read in a short period of time without compromising with message or the impact of the story and the author was successful in achieving his objective. Something just like this turned out to be my favourite story and I am biased towards it probably because of my love for this song and it was a delight to see the story starting with the lyrics of the very song. The angel of death was another fascinating read for me especially because this was the first story that I read in this book as the title was very captivating. I read this book slowly one in a day just to enjoy every story to its fullest. The best thing about the book is that you go from one emotion of life to the other with every story and this makes it a whole package of meaningful, time saving reads.
Life in different colours is collection of short stories on different phases of life with mind blowing endings. If question comes to your mind why short stories then author have given justifying answer in start of the book. The author have drafted twist and turns with wonderful skills. Each and every story gives unpredictable ending and a wonderful message. My favorite story is " Angel of death".language is easy to understand and connecting. Being Short stories it can be read at different intervals but once story is started it gives rise to undying curiosity. If your looking for different or a change in reading cycle then give this book a chance. Cover of the story is totally justifying as representing people outlay and shading of colours on top completes it. Special line from the book "The genius of the human mind lies in the fact that it cannot rest until it finds answers for almost anything in this world that intrigues it"
Rating on scale of 5 Stories - 5 Language-4 Cover-3.5 Character building-5 Recommend-5 Overall- 5
Life In Different Colours by Pratik P Sharda is an interesting book which I picked up recently. The book consists of several short stories, which one can finish in 5-8 minutes, and keeps the reader hooked.
The first story- ‘In Search of Redemption’ caught my attention. When I started reading this tale, it seemed like a basic murder/accident/guilt trip kinda story, but the ending was kinda surprising and interesting. I approve the suspense and shocking thrill surprise.
Another one which I liked was- The angel of death, not gonna spoil this one. You will like it when you read it. As for the rest of the parts go- you are in for a surprise.
Stories are relatable and engaging. The book cover is simple but interesting, once you start rerading the stories you will know why the author chose this illustration.
Collection of short stories that are relatable, meaningful and twist at the end. On the whole, it was a quick and easy read with simple language and familiar premise.
#1 In search of redemption The start of the story was intriguing. Very well written. #2 The angel of death The premise of four men talking amidst terrorist attack was very interesting. #3 Honey, I love you Story of married couple on their fifth anniversary after all love has exhausted. Story that has been told and re-told by many in many ways. #4 A perfect day This one, I liked the way it was written. Though it might have sounded like a rant to some, I really enjoy reading such relatable stuff. Good one. #5 Without you It’s about relationship between a dad and son. There could have been more emotional connect. #6 On Valentine’s Day Interesting tale with a good twist. #7 The stranger on Bed- 406 Two patients in a hospital get talking. Had a good message. #8 Something just like this Optimism of a little kid. Yes, that’s what we need. #9 The ransom As name suggests, it’s about kidnapping. The ending twist was hilarious. #10 Love at first sight Senior citizens in love. Such a heart warming subject. #11 It is arranged Marriage arranged out of love and also takes dig at dowry. Kudos. #12 Ten things, ninety days The wishes of a dying patient being fulfilled. Not only relatable wishes but also meaningful. Feel good twist at the end.
Apart from comments on stories, I would like to appreciate the author for title of the book and also each individual story. Some are quirky and all are very apt.
The book cover could have been more attractive.
Kudos for well presented writing for a debut book. If I can give one suggestion to the author, then it would be that dialogues can be used less and narration can take front seat. This way story will be more impactful.
